Dark Souls III [Import OT] Kindle the fire, one last time

Any idea yet how prevalent Ember consumables are? My friend and I were hoping to play through the whole game in co-op, but I know you need to use a consumbale to be able to summon.

So in the Undead Settlement, where do I find
the Warriors of Sunlight talisman? All I know is that it is in a secret room, but I have no clue where...I have beaten the tree boss already.

The environments are amazing, indeed. I also love how the game makes use of its environments to tell its story. I think the first and second area (after the Firelink Shrine) clearly demonstrate this, and I often find myself just wandering around looking with visual hints. It's just bloody amazing.

...Not exactly sure whether it was wise to start as a Mercenary, though. I thought the Knight build I most recently played Dark Souls II with made the game a total push-over, so going back to dual-wielding scimitars was quite a change of pace.

From the second bonfire, walk past the bridge and follow that path. There, you can drop through the floor and you'll be facing a dude with a whip. Move in the opposite direction (back to the settlement) and you'll see a door next door the staircase. It's behind that door. If you can't access the door from that side, take the stairs and drop through an opening in the floor. There is the Talisman.

Is there not a way to play the digital version with non japanese accounts (ps4)? Never had this problem with stuff I bought on the US store.

Anyway, finally ready to dive in. My japanese is very rusty, I used to know 500-600 kanji but I didn't do any practise the last year because I've been focusing on learning mandarin, so we'll see how this goes...

I always buy from the JP PSN and play with my EU account, same with this, no problem.

Totally feels like DeS+DaS+a little bit of Bloodborne for the visual part.

a LITTLE BIT?

the game feels like bloodborne reskinned into dark souls basically

and I know dark souls came first but...

it just "screams" bloodborne, the further in you get the more you see it.

Interesting. I'm playing the Jap version. Where are the Deacons?

Maybe I got it from them?
Boss at the place where you raise the two bridges, after defeating crystal sage. Is the doll required to cross the bridge with the big ice alligator thing?

I have the
small doll
but I have no idea where I got it, I think I got it in
Cathedral of the Deep from the Deacons
?

You mean
the covenant not the talisman

I don't remember which room it is, but you can access the room from above, roll through jars or what ever it is that covers the hole you want to jump in it..

In the
Cathedral of the Deep
. Also I'm pretty sure the
small doll just dropped off them when I killed them.
. I didn't have it in my inventory before the fight but I do now. Any hints on where I should be heading after killing them?

If it looks AS good as Bloodborne, that's enough for me. So does it? :|

From what I've seen in varies depending on the area...I like the chunky Souls style a little bit more than Bloodborne's so I'd say yes. It has a much more consistent look to it than the DS2, which – while sometimes beautiful – was all over the place.

Smooth PC version for the win!

Love it.

Loving the Firelink Shrine because DeS one is my favourite hub.

Loving exploration.

I will never get tired of these games.

Thanks for you input Mendrox.
Trying to keep down the excitment and hype-level under the roof here :)

I'm playing the EU Xbox version, and don't recall getting anything like that.

Ahh, may have been a bug then. Looked really weird.

Is it safe to assume that drawing out your true strength with
Joel of Londor
will result in short term benefits but some kind of negative consequence in the long run?

So I'm fighting the boss that has
multiple enemies and then has a second phase.
and losing constantly. Did I miss something, last boss I fought was the T
ree

boss name? i fought the
crystal sage
after the tree but it seems entirely optional

The discrepancy in presentation was absolutely pathetic in DS2. I hope to God it isn't the case with DS3 because I don't think I could tolerate something like that with this game, even if level design and gameplay is top notch.

The A
byss
W
atchers
. Been fighting that for an hour without much progress.

I think I'm heading to that next but i'm kinda lost atm, point me in the right direction?

I got to the second bonfire in the swamp and also cleared out the area above the farron covenant bonfire

Do you mean the bridge that has enemies nearby that throw fire bombs? Or did I already go to far? I'm really shit at following directions LOL.

I got lost for the most part in the swamp so I couldn't say. I will say you should look out for
towers that are lit with a flame
since they're important.

From what I've seen in streams it's more like BB which has that certain look through the whole game. BB feels like one huge area and the same definitely applies for DS3. It might be a bit more varied, being Souls and all..but that's a good thing in my book.

That bossfight is tough, I just beat it an hour ago.
Force yourself to dodge towards the boss during the second phase, it's way safer than dodging in any other direction.
After I made the switch I beat it on my first try. I must have died 10 times at least before that learning the moves and stuff. I wasn't really getting anywhere in the second phase until I made the switch though.

Yeah, I just need to get better at
Having enough estus/hp after phase 1

Found the
Aldritch Faithful Covenant with the help of someone's message. It's hidden behind an illusionary wall in the snow town. After Pontiff, run through the courtyard with the sleeping Giants and up the stairs guarded by the purple weapon guys. Once inside the first room, go to the left hand side of the room.

I have joined the 0.1% haha.

what + upgraded weapon are you guys fighting the
abyss watchers
with? i've kinda been hoarding my materials not willing to upgrade since i haven't found a weapon i love yet but tbh they're throwing so many upgrade materials at you it seems that it's probably worth just splurging everything i have atm

A quick fuck you note to Bamco : FROM made a great game ,but Bamco forced us to wait an extra or month or buy an incomprehensible version of the game.

Still a fan ,but FU :P

Thanks, that's what I want to hear. I'm trying to avoid streams as much as possible as I wanna go into the game fresh.

I still remember the horror of that DS2 zone in the woods, which looked like something straight out of early PS2 era....

Eh? I feel different. Begining was more like Bloodborne and after the tutorial bosses (the first two + the optional boss) it starts to feel like it's own thing.

So is the game a 10/10 or what?

It's really, really good. The combat system is a straight up improvement compared to the other Souls games (and I actually prefer it to BB's), the level design is very good and very consistent so far from what I've seen (10 hours of gameplay), and the bosses and enemies still manage to surprise me even though it's the 5th game in the same style. The enemies and bosses also have more complex and fleshed out movesets than in any other game in the series.
A few old bosses make a come-back as mini-bosses and the changes in moveset are very apparent.

The way I handled the first phase was to hit the boss as fast as possible until the second guy joins in. After that I ran around until the hostile guy woke up. I then used the opportunity to kill the boss' ally before wailing on the boss while he's busy with the hostile guy.

I'm actually quite surprised how well I'm fairing with the JP version. I'm not even using the translation resources and I'm making good progress. But yeah it's a weird decision, especially in this day and age.

I wanna be able to read and know the names of bosses ,places, items and such.

Its not that I am in depth lore geek or anything ,but I like to feel like I am part of the game.

So far I feel ever so annoyingly dissonant because of the language barrier.Yeah its playable but I feel like I am missing out on some aspects that I like about Souls.

Sounds good thanks for the reply.
