As someone who thinks the marvel films are passable to ok, that trailer made me much more excited about Civil War than I was.

Loved how the Thin Steve/Cap'N Steve "I can do this all day" part was mashed together in that fan trailer. Still surprises me how much that reference gets me in the feels.

I don't know about whatever phases come after The Infinity War part 2, but I feel like when you look at the collection starting from Iron Man 1 all the way through IW's conclusion, this whole project will be (already is) something very special...

...and I haven't even been into comics since the early '90s.

Don't disagree with most of the article.

But holy fucking shit. Picking MCU movies of all things just because they make huge amounts of money?

Marvel were the plucky underdogs of the movie world, now they are the "establishment", in so far as they can release anything and it gets huge amounts of money and praise. The same critical process happened with Pixar around the time of Cars 2 and I suspect thinkpieces are already being written about the next downfall of Disney Animation.

Yeah I made an edit when I realized what I said is an obvious thing.

The galaxy in Guardians of the Galaxy is remarkably bland: the capital on Xandar could just about be Houston.

Yeah, sorry, I can't take the rest of the article seriously when you open with this.

I wonder how they're going to fit a scene of Thanos looking imposing or saying something menacing into this?

Here's a the final cut of the fanmade trailer "The Road to Civil War". It features new footage from the new trailer.

Got really emotional watching this. It's a testament to how far we've come with the MCU. The Avengers and it's lead up kept posing the hopeful question of "will this actually work" while now with Civil War coming off of Ultron it's a question of "can this last?"

I feel like this movie is gonna be such an emotional gut punch.

The MCU will be seen as a master class in how to run a movie series and how to successfully market it across the better part of a decade. It's a pop culture phenomenon for sure.

As a Marvel nerd who geeked out the day I saw that Nick Fury at the end of Iron Man, I couldn't be happier.

How many downfalls has Disney Animation had by this point? Three or four I would imagine.

I scoff at anyone who believes Marvel is somehow part of the problem. I can still remember the Comic ghetto we used to be in before them.

According to some brief research (TVTropes), their first 'dark age' was around the 1970s, which lasted until Little Mermaid started the 'renaissance', the last film of which is taken to be Tarzan. (I'd personally stretch it out to Treasure Planet, myself). We're currently in a 'second renaissance', although no-one can really agree when it started.

So not as many as you'd think, although that's only because the 'dark age' lasted for so long.

I love Captain America, but I think I love Iron Man's team more. I mean, vision and Black Panther and Black Widow. uurgh.

Otoh, Falcon and Scarlet Witch and Ant-Man+Hawkeye combo.

Why are you fighting? :(
Please. I love you all.

This movie is hitting the feels the comics tried and failed. There I was sure I was on Cap's side. Here, tho.
Urgh.
I don't want them to fight!

My main worry is that Iron Man's justification for his side will end up to be bullshit due to the idealism of Cap. I don't expect any balance in a Captain America sequel...
