My favourite superheroes are:

1. Spider-Man
2. Batman
3. Superman

and their most recent movies are now Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Batman v Superman

fuck me

lol yup, this is me too (Just my order is Batman, Superman and Spiderman)

Luckily though my 3 favorite superhero movies of all time are also about (2 of) these 3...TDK, BB and SM2. We'll always have those :/

What the fuck is going on here that people think Iron Man 3 was

a. a bad film
or
b. better than 2?

I get it, opinions and all, but some of this shit is warped.
IM3 was more entertaining than IM2 IMO, plus it didn't feel like advertisement for another movie.

Personally - and I promise this is NOT just due to Batman v. Superman - I've never been one to trust the reviews put on Rotten Tomatoes.

If you even take just a SECOND to read the reviews that RT pulls from the web (they don't get submitted to RT, they're selected) you'll see that whoever writes a lot of them is severely under qualified - most of the negative reviews compare BvS to Marvel films (and the two are VERY different) whereas a lot of the positive ones seem to be written by critics who are unbiased (surprisingly they're not only "DC Lovers"). The only time RT tends to be accurate is when the movie(s) are either received as ONLY positive (i.e. Zootopia) or ONLY negative (i.e. Fan4stic), but ANY movie received as controversial due to it being so game changing (i.e. Man of Steel) you'll see a disparity between both audience and critic reviews - and this is largely in part due to the fact that (as I said) RT pulls it's reviews from around the web.

It's also worth noting that the film has yet to be released to the general public, and therefore the RT reviews should be even LESS trustworthy as most "critics" that RT pulls from haven't even written reviews yet (for perspective Age of Ultron has 300 "critic" reviews).

Just figured I would post this in the hopes that everyone shares it so no ones hopes for a spectacular movie drop.

I don't know how anyone could seriously call MoS a gamechanger but you do you, facebook guy. I bet he wouldn't be talking about how you can't trust Rotten Tomatoes if the consensus went the other way though.

Yeah. I actually am one of those people who doesn't hate TDKR and it's the only one of the Nolan series I haven't seen like 4 times. I think I'll watch that and Superman The Movie tomorrow to wash this taste out.

Those are the characters I love. Not whatever I got tonight.

Could be worse.

You could be a huge Fantastic Four fan. Those dudes have never had a non-garbage movie, in multiple tries.

Some of us just trust that it's an impressions video if it's posted as such in here and immediately switch tabs. All I'm saying is label things as they are when you're linking shit. This is the RT thread ffs, take that shit to the spoiler thread.

I agree that people are too loose with spoilers but why would anyone be in this thread or looking at any impression videos if your dead set to see this film spoiler free, setting yourself up for failure. Especially alt tabbing out of a video immediately without seeing the video title, whos it from, the channel, ect.

There are a lot of fake/paid reviews on IMDB. Whoever posted that must be a shill.

Fake or Purchased IMDB accounts are rating Batman Vs Superman 10/10
https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/com..._accounts_are_rating_batman/?ref=search_posts

Bloody hell, the year hasn't even finished yet! Taking a look strictly at the 10/10 and 9/10 accounts, you can clearly see they are tons that are only a few days old with only the one movie review under their belts. I won't spam you with all the user account links, but here's an example of what I mean: http://www.imdb.com/user/ur65929724/[6]

tfw you have to go all the way back to the 70s to get a great Superman movie.

Honestly, any comparisons you read to AoU are way off the mark. That movie had PLENTY of problems but it at least had some stuff that worked. And it had characters you gave a shit about. Things that happened felt earned, mostly.

This is ABSOLUTELY Amazing Spider-Man 2. But not as good.

Ultron was completely pointless without a single redeeming factor.

This at least had some soul and a reason for existing.

Yeah I thought Batman Begins was the gamechanger. MoS was just trying to be that, but for Superman.

I dont think its fair to dismiss other superhero films just because Batman v Superman is a clusterfuck

I'm just burnt out; I feel like I need a break from the genre and any interest I had in Suicide Squad/a continuation of the current DC cinematic universe is entirely gone after this.

Irom Man 3 is a bad Iron Man film but great Tony Stark film. Maybe they are all though.

Only Marvel could make an All-Star Superman movie. But then again the animated adaptation, IIRC correct correctly, was ass.

Haha it is funny that the world's most popular superheroes have gotten such crappy movies. C'mon, Spidey '17...

No hope for Superman though. As long as they try to make him gritty or philosophical or realistic. The latter especially.

I also forgot to add this on my list of "things to do instead of seeing this movie":
-Watch Iron Giant: Because a robot designed to destroy humanity with advanced alien weaponry in a time full of paranoia with its Cold War setting and ends with the launch of a nuclear bomb is more uplifting, more heartfelt and more inspiring than a film about Superman.

When Marvel changes the Mandarin to add a surprising twist to a tired trope it is a cardinal sin.

When DC murders their 2 best heroes and makes psychopaths out of them it is because they have something to say. They are soulful.

Edit: okay maybe hyperbolic but it will be divisive. People either love it or hate it.

Batman vs Superman |OT| The Crows are coming

Lots of positive reviews of the film starting to come out now. Fans love it especially some die hard Marvel fans too.

My phones has been going crazy all night. All my friends love this film.

Critics have severely misjudged this film.

Okay, Kevin Tsujihara

I just got back. Um.

Just got back from the theater; legitimately one of the worst films I've ever seen.

This is how I feel as well.

So, a few weeks ago I went to see Gods of Egypt, because while it looked astoundingly awful, I thought it would head into so bad it's, well, if not good then at least entertaining territory. And that it was - my daughter and I had a hoot at it.

These are the ways Gods of Egypt was a better film than Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice:

  • It had a semi-coherent narrative through line
  • Characters were allowed to feel a range of emotions, most notably, joy
  • Characters were allowed to look like they were having fun
  • It knew not to take itself too seriously
  • It had better romantic tension between the main couple. Mind you, the romance was awful.
  • The action was shot and edited in a way that you could tell what was going on, and where characters were in relation to one another.
  • The bad guy had clear motivation and goals
Gods of Egypt was the worst big budget movie I'd ever seen at the time, but it was entertaining in spite of itself, or perhaps because of itself. It's now the second worst.

More than anything, BvS: DoJ is utterly joyless. Everything progresses with funereal solemness, even when it's being silly. Everything is just so heavy handed. There's an early shot of Lex Luthor walking down a hallway from behind. It's brightly lit (which is rare), shot from a low angle, in slow motion, his lab coat flowing majestically behind him while loud, deep pounding music portends something Significant happening, though the film has had no time to build up to anything at this point. Nothing about that moment warranted the music, the slow motion, the elevation of a character walking somewhere to a major event. I burst out laughing at this scene - it was just so randomly awful. But it was one of the only times the film was so bad it was actually funny. For the most part, it's simply bad. And that's how most of the movie goes. I squirmed a lot.

Gal Gadot is the only actor allowed to look like she was enjoying herself, a bit, and her character is allowed to elevate her scenes simply with how she carries herself. She's got a deft touch, especially when Wonder Woman is doing her thing. She's the best thing about the movie, IMO. Affleck was good as Batman, and his rage and motivation was really the heart of the film. I'd love to see a stand alone Batman film with him, though with a different director. (Though of course, his Bruce Wayne was not allowed a smidgen of fun. At least Bale looked like he was enjoying himself.)

Two hours in, just when the movie has gotten its first lift of narrative momentum and we're heading into the climax, everything is literally put on hold to run a series of commercials for the future Justice League movie. Just right smack in the middle of things. At least Marvel knew to put their most overt hooks after the credits! It totally kills the forward momentum the movie had going.

The audience I watched it with didn't laugh, cheer or really react once through the film. Credits rolled and people got up and left in silence. The whole movie is a giant, joyless mess.

I've been looking all night.

Still haven't found many, if any, reviews that are actually serious instead of either trolling/drive-by/pushing the remark that the critics are insane.

I will self ban myself if this is worse than TASM2.

What the fuck are critics exactly but moviegoers who have seen lots of movies and share their opinion on the internet

"This one isn't for the critics"

Ugh

My exact same thoughts, right down to theatre reaction. I've never seen an opening night crowd for a movie this big that dead.

Look at what this thread has done.

Look at what they take from us. They take and take until there's nothing left, and we're slamming Iron Man 3 and praising Gods of Egypt.

This photo makes more sense now. I used to hate how people would point to this pic as evidence that BvS might suck, but goddamn I keep coming back to it.

Look at Gal. She's having fun and wants to lean back into the Suicide Squad who are also having fun. Everyone else is like "goddamn I wish I had as much fun as they did."

I mean there was a story to be told, characters to be developed, themes to be explored.

Ultron was perfunctory masturbation with no climax.

There's about 30 seconds of dialogue from The Vision at the end of AoU that has more to say about what it means to be Superman than the entirety of Man of Steel, or from the sounds of it, BvS.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhGPvE43aAM

Age of Ultron was an underwhelming anticlimax by virtue of it coming on the heels of the universally lauded Winter Soldier, but it was a story driven by real personalities with real motivations and not just a disjointed array of plot machinations.

Damn. I forgot about this scene. Vision was the best thing to come out of that movie.
