Batman v. Superman RT Thread: like standing ovations in rain

I'd like to add:
-Read All-Star Superman: It's one of Superman's best stories and for many a codifier as to what and who "jesus" Superman is. It also deals with (spoilers for BvS)
the death of Superman only in an interesting manner
.
Shit man, add Birthright up there, even Alan Moore's Whatever happened to the Man of tomorrow.
If WB want to shock people, they should film a live action adaptation to Alan Moore's rejected Twilight of Superheroes script.., it's kingdom come meets Game of thrones... Who wouldn't eat that up nowadays

The average MCU film is a Renoir. Pretty good craftsmanship, not really doing anything all that interesting, but inoffensive. You don't stand there wondering how that made it into the gallery.

BvS is like a Picasso. Lots of people aren't going to like it, but it's trying things Renoir couldn't begin to attempt.
Now I know the movie is that bad when people say crazy/dumb shit like this.

That's only because Marvel puts enough little quips in the movie to gloss over all their dumb shit. Man of Steel is just being completely serious when it's stupidness is shown.

Nah. MoS was a better movie then the garbage that's BvS. And Marvel's quips wouldn't be able to remotely cover the sheer stupidity of BvS.

If you want a ranking it's something like...

1. Guardians
2. Winter Soldier
3. Iron Man 3
4. Cap1
5. Iron Man
6. Ant-Man
7. Avengers
8. Age of Ultron
9. Hulk
10. Thor
11. Iron Man 2
12. Thor 2

You mean generic as fuck. What we got was so much better.

not a bad list, though I'd rank Thor 1 and 2 below pounding nails through my dick.

My only real problem with Ultron was that it couldn't really decide what it really wanted to be about. Lots of things going on, not all of them important to the plot. I view it more as a collection of good character moments barely strung together by a thin plot. Could do with some more editing to focus the narrative, flesh out the villain a little more. But other than that it's enjoyable viewing. A mid-tier MCU movie.

Honestly, any comparisons you read to AoU are way off the mark. That movie had PLENTY of problems but it at least had some stuff that worked. And it had characters you gave a shit about. Things that happened felt earned, mostly.

This is ABSOLUTELY Amazing Spider-Man 2. But not as good.

Damn near every comic book character who wasn't a straight white man needed to be reimagined at some point to be something other than a racist or sexist caricature. Acting like nothing of value was lost by white washing the Mandarin today is complete bullshit.

Kalentan's post validated I guess

Oh the good old "It's not the movie, its the fans" response. What a fucking week.

Iron Man 1 is a vastly better movie than Iron Man 3.

Better soundtrack. A perfect blend of Starc and Iron Man himself. Great acting all around, most importantly it was grounded and not as over the top as Iron Man 3 was.

BvS is disappointing.

So Age of Ultron>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>BvsS.

The actual Batman vs Superman fight wasn't even that good.

Forget about the MCU, how does the world building compare to Amazing Spider-Man 2?

It's atrocious. There's a scene where the film stops dead in its tracks for
Wonder Woman to literally click through e-mail attachments that are just teasers for Aquaman (which is awkwardly shot), Cyborg (which is absolutely the most painful of these to watch) one of the Flash (might be Wally West since it looks like they used the Speed Force and, if I recall, Wally was the one who first used the Speed Force in the DC comics universe), and, presumably, where her movie takes place.
The only moment that feels organic in the entire movie is when Bruce Wayne mentions how "Gotham City has a bad history of clowns"
which is an obvious reference to the Joker who again, presumably, killed Jason Todd or at least a Robin in this universe.
that at least doesn't slow things down like the
dream sequence where we see the Flash warn Batman about Superman snapping should Lois Lane die or the Darkseid dream sequence that makes no sense when you stop and think about why Bruce is having this dream take place on Apokolips aside from foreshadowing who's the villain in the inevitable Justice League movie and the Parademons being connected to Lex's reference to devils coming from above being taken literally because this movie wields unsubtle like a sledgehammer and leaves no scene without one swing from it
.

Just got back from the theater; legitimately one of the worst films I've ever seen. I found myself borderline angry about the way the characters were treated.

I think I'm done with superhero films for a while. A while being a solid decade if the DCU is going to be like this.

though AoU coming off Avengers 1 and BvS coming off Man of Steel might have something to do with that... VASTLY different expectations going into each one.

Come on now, we all know this means 6 weeks.

"It's not a Superman movie, it's not a Batman movie, it's not even a DC Comics movie."

Damn.

It's true tho

These people don't feel like heroes a majority of the film, save for Superman in a few scenes, but damn man, why does it seem so bleak to see the Man of Steel rescue people?

What the fuck is going on here that people think Iron Man 3 was

a. a bad film
or
b. better than 2?

I get it, opinions and all, but some of this shit is warped.

I gotta admit The fact that Snyder Doesn't give a shit and does his own thing is kind of admirable in a way.

Can't wait to see it on Tuesday!

I loved Iron Man 3, and it was way better than 2. IM2 was just disjointed and weird and sloppy, even though there were individual scenes that I thought were great.

You know a script has problems when the main bad guy has to literally call the good guy on the phone out of nowhere, for no reason, to tell him that it's time for the last fight in the movie to happen.

No joke: from most of the reviews and most of the impressions here, it must SUCK being a Superman and/or Batman comic fan right now. I felt similar pain with the X-Men movies but even those felt more true to the characters than this does (again, from impressions, im not a DC guy). As a comic book fan, and as funny as these title changes are, this bums me out even if im not a DC guy.

Video titled SPOILERS at the end not appropriate enough?

Title of the video is Briefly Regarding Justice - SPOILERS

Some of us just trust that it's an impressions video if it's posted as such in here and immediately switch tabs. All I'm saying is label things as they are when you're linking shit. This is the RT thread ffs, take that shit to the spoiler thread.

My favourite superheroes are:

1. Spider-Man
2. Batman
3. Superman

and their most recent movies are now Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Batman v Superman

fuck me

I dont think its fair to dismiss other superhero films just because Batman v Superman is a clusterfuck

Least Batman fans were given a decent trilogy to enjoy from, Superman can't catch a break, and after this hes not going to get another for a long time.
