usual suspects is the only good non-xmen film from the director. it had a great ensemble and he used them effectively. it's not a classic or anything, lol hell no. but it's a fun movie no doubt. also superman returns could have been great but there were a lot of problems with that one. i think there's flashes of great stuff within it though.

disappointed he's helming 20,000 leagues instead of fincher.

Fincher has a bad habit of going way over budget, which is a pretty bad mix for a film taking place almost entirely underwater. It's crazy expensive to shoot on/in water. Waterworld and Titanic had absolutely insane budgets for their time and PotC: On Stranger Tides is still the most expensive movie ever made by a huge margin.

And Fincher is a great storyeller, but he also remade a $13mil Swedish film into a $90mil American film without adding anything to it. Studios don't love him like we do.

I can't shake the X-Men 3 vibes I am getting from this.

Not to call you out specifically, I'm just seeing a lot of this in the thread and all I can think is, really?

We're still with Bryan Singer, who is 3 for 3 on good-to-great X-Men films, and had involvement with First Class (also great). Tom Rothman doesn't have his dirty meddling paws on franchise anymore either, X3 is a special situation shit-sandwich because of that guy.

I'd have thought DOFP would have earned some more good will, but damn.

Some people just hate Singer's take on the X-Men.

Otherwise, I agree, the lack of faith in a man with a very consistent track record with this franchise is kind of weird to me. Singer has made 3 good X-Men movies. 4 of the 5 X-Men movies have been good, and 2 of the 3 related properties.

The problem is that we have now had GREAT superhero films, not just good ones. It feels like these XMen movies are as good as the early ones, but that was a long time ago and the bar was much lower back then. They aren't terrible, just really forgettable. And it doesn't help that DOFP was literally just there to undo everything the previous films did so they could get a second chance to reboot Xmen.

Of all the superhero films that felt like nothing of significance happened, DOFP is the worst. I would have preferred a hard reboot in the fashion of first class and just building from there than to have them do DOFP the way they did. There's also the casting, JLaw is just awful and shouldn't be as big a focal point in the last 2 movies as she has been.

She's phoning it in, and the writing for her character is terrible to boot. Toss in the samey ass dark colored ugly uniforms and it just feels long in the tooth. Not nearly as exciting as Deadpool/Guadians/BvS/Civil War right now.

IGN did a trailer breakdown for the film.

Similar to DOFP's Wolverine outfit they're giving certain characters their comic based colours with armour bits added on top. Quicksilver and Mystique both have their blue and white colours while Nightcrawler has red and black on his Thriller jacket.

I find that so silly tbh. Just give them their damn costumes for real. Or even better give them transformative outfits instead of a half measure. It's not like it won't still make money. I've always hated Singers perspective on the outfits.

Don't worry guys, at least this movie will be better than BvS.

it will be the best this year (comic book shit i mean).

damn shame about the mansion though. i hope we get a nice chunk of the school up and running before these fools blow it up.

and i loved how they played up the 70s fashion and some of the pop culture in dofp. they better do that for the 80s in this. the hair and nightcrawler's thriller jacket is a good start tho.

Still think this will be the best comic book movie of the year. I just hope people remember that it's actually coming out soon. BvS and Civil War have definitely taken most of the attention away.

DOFP wasn't just there to undo everything shitty X3 did, though that in itself goes far and above "something of significance" happening. The reasons why the timeline changed are significant, namely the emotional and philosophical center of the movie being Eric v Charles in morality, with Mystique in the middle. Ultimately, Charles' morality won through Mystique choosing another path, which allowed the timeline to change. How is this not significant considering what the X-Men movies are about?

After all this obfuscation, and the debates around whether certain leaked images were legitimate, the X-Men's final costumes have been debuted in Empire:

Scott's visor looks a bit off to me, but otherwise they look good. Nightcrawler's, especially, is a pretty literal comics translation.

I know Mystique is a complex villain / sometimes anti-hero? But wouldn't it just be easier if she was a good guy in this series?

Damn not sure what's worse Beast and Quicksilver outfit or the creepy amount of Sophie Turner images in that photobucket album

At least there's finally some colour, even if it is just a shade of grey...

And what a way to spoil Storm joining the good guys. I know, I know, we all know she's good and will turn, but come on..at least don't spoil it in promo material.

Just watched the trailer, most anticipated movie of the year.
Psylocke look dope in this.
Not fan of the backgrounds being mostly ruins in this.
But Apocalypse look really good in this.
I'm liking what I see.

Looks like bad cosplay. I wish they incorporated some GCI into Beast's look. He doesn't look big enough. :(

Logan's shirt is good for the canadian lumberjack vibes ... but the actor they choose needs more facial hair and a mean look
