I'd say that there's enough character development. Batman's is really compressed, mind. But... I think that it's clear that, by the end, Superman's actions, his sacrifice (against Doomsday and, curiously, against Batman) have turned him around, at least a little. His speech, his not branding Lex. You can see it.

He was pretty much the only side character who had a pulse. I actually thought he was more fluid in this film than MoS.

I bet he secretly likes that Clark is dead. Guy wouldn't write the fucking underdog story!

I think they did what they did at the end to kinda reset things a bit...maybe.

It wasn't a horrible movie by any means. I've seen worse. A LOT worse. Some piss poor editing here and there. I don't understand when Luthor knew about Darkseid I suppose. I guess the asian woman who was Lex's secretary or something that got killed in the explosion was a Darkseid minion...or something.

I get that Lex knows about Wonder Woman because his dad was in Germany and she was in Belgium, so that's why he went looking for Superheroes, but they didn't explain that shit at all. Like...why was that shit there? Cut it out, save it for the next film.

The Flash scene as well. I didn't get that AT.ALL.

Also this whole idea of Superman questioning whether or not he should give a shit about the human race...really feels like they could've used that more instead of focusing on him and Batman having mothers of the same name.

Baffleck = Best part of the movie
Wonder Woman = Being this Amazonian Woman who clearly loves to fight is awesome, and reminds me of the Saiyans in DBZ.
Superman = Feels like another missed opportunity

Luthor = Maybe if it was the Riddler, I'd get it, but no. Total miscast/portrayal

lol Dude was the only one who got the laughs he was supposed to when they landed.

I agree, he was a lot more fun to watch here than MOS. A lot more exuberant and I appreciated it.
 
I'm curious, with the possible exception of Burton's films, what renowned version of Batman hasn't had a "no-kill" rule? The last 30 years has established not killing as one of his biggest traits, even if in practice it comes off as ridiculous. The most well-regarded piece of Batman media ever (The Dark Knight) has a massive amount of plot built around this. It's absurd to bring up him casually murdering people in the earliest days of his comic career as some basis for this film's interpretation of him.

If you're going to have Batman be a killer, establish why he is in the film, as others have mentioned, and give a damn good reason for it. Hell, I'd honestly be fine with it if the only person he killed was that flamethrower wielding dude, since that ultimately did feel like a him or Martha moment (similar to him letting Dent fall to his death in TDK to save that kid). But him blowing up cars full of thugs comes as brutal as hell, as does t-boning a car and then dragging it all over the street.
 
Man that ending almost ruined the whole fucking thing for me. Don't waste my time for 20 minutes making me mourn this dude's death and then not actually have the balls to kill him. Hate when they do this shit in superhero movies.

I don't share the same opinion as Affleck.

Wonder Woman was my favorite character in the film by far. They used her for just the right amount of time and didn't do too much in the ways of messing with her story.

She wanted a fucking picture and she helped. Done. Simple.

Batman was ruined a bit for me because they had him as a primary character without a ton of substance. I have little comprehension of what he is honestly about.

To me Catwoman/Selina is like Gordon or Alfred and should always be around Gotham even if its one little scene in the first movie as Selina with zero reference to Catwoman.

Even the cartoons struggle with this and "Perchance to Dream" was like the only time Selina felt existent outside her episodes.

(Look, if I keep my expectations low, I'll enjoy it more and won't be so disappointed.)

Justice league stuff was awful, the flash/Bruce scene in particular.

His second death should have been handled like his first - very briefly (or even better not at all) - since we know he's not actually dead. They're not going to kill Superman before Justice League. There was no need to drag it out so long since the only tension in the sequence was waiting for the film to clarify that no, he's not actually dead.

But ok.

In The Dark Knight Returns Batman is also charged with criminal offences by a Gotham City Commissioner who wants to see him put away, and murder is not one of those charges.

I can't really disagree about Batman in terms of where he was at his life cuz I didn't know, but I think Affleck did a good job as him. He's scared of Superman eventually growing into this Unstoppable God and didn't really care about what anyone else thought about him. He didn't give Superman or anyone else a chance to tell him different or make him believe that, which led to his death.
 
No idea what movie the reviewers watched because this was brilliant.

Ben Affleck was amazing as Batman. Setup for the justice league movie was great and the music was fantastic.
 
Does anyone think Mercy Graves will come back in a later movie? I felt she was very underused, we didn't even get a fight scene. The movie doesn't make a point of her being Lex's bodyguard, just seems like this woman who's always around him. I know in the comics Mercy is revealed to be an Amazon, which if brought into this universe, means she could survive the explosion. Hell even do a Young Justice and give her a robot arm.
 
I liked it.

Movie was a bit too long though, my eyes started to hurt a bit.

One thing I didn't get is...what's the motivation behind Lex???? That character needed a lot more subtarance behind him

Also who was that character that warned Bruce about Superman in one of the dream sequence ??

Nolan's use of Catwoman I will forgive since her and Bruce get a happy ending which never happens in any medium.

But hopefully now with DC seeing the reaction to Wonder Woman(and how carefully and respectfully they handled her imo at least) they might consider doing the same for the #2 female in comics.
Especially as she has 3 roles she can provide in 1 iteration(villain, love interest, sidekick)

That is to.

Batman killing is nothing new in cinema. Batman being rebooted yet again, left a lot of us hoping for an even closer interpretation to the character, since they almost nailed it with Nolan's version. Hearing that they were making a standalone film had us hoping for the True Detective version of the character.


Batman killing and totally missing the Luther setup/trap is just another fumble on Synder.

Us "harping" on Batman's no kill is because someone suggested he was a nonchalant murderer outside of the movies.

Lex does call her Mercy, yeah. Then she seems to die in the explosion because Lex wanted her to warm his seat, or something. Why he wanted her dead makes no sense.

Lex's dad beat him. That led Lex to believe that God is cannot be both all-powerful and all-good. If he were, God would have stopped beatings. Enter Superman. Enough messianic imagery to drown a Catholic, with the power to destroy the world if he wanted to. Since a God cannot be all-powerful and all-good, he reasons Supes cannot be all-good (since he's already all-powerful). Ergo, he must be stopped.

Dream-sequence dude was actually the Flash from a future/alternate universe.

I think she was full on robot in Young Justice. I was surprised when they killed her in the movie. Though I kept thinking that she didn't die, or that they made her a robot again.
 
Seems there's a big difference between the critics and audiences on this one:

Even better news for Warner Bros. after those reviews: 60% of the audience said they would definitely recommend BvS to their friends while 33% said they’ll probably tell them about it. Older males were out in force (no surprise) at 69% guys, 57% over 25. Fifty-one percent saw it in 3D. Twenty-five percent said BvS exceeded their expectations while 60% said the film met their expectations.

Nolan's Catwoman was one of the few things I liked. I'm actually surprised he used her and didn't completely fuck it up.

I'll be surprised if it happens again. But it'd be really nice.

Jesus I can't imagine watching this in 3D, literally none of it is meant for it and it's graded SO DARK

Also, that pissed me off. The projector at my theater was FUCKED. Hazy and really poor blacks. The movie did not look as good as it should have.

Saw it in true IMAX and thought it looked great besides the intro which felt like its was zoomed in 10x+.
Honestly thought about walking out and getting my money back for a regular showing.

I saw it in 3D and it was fine. There was never any moment where the action got lost or anything was incomprehensible (insert a joke about the plot here).

Same. And mine was in 3D. Very dark. That uncut Blu Ray can't come soon enough.
 
This little kid sitting behind me was hilariously excited to see CYBORG!! when his teaser showed up
