this movie was way better than Age of Ultron. I felt like that wasnt a complete movie, whereas with this one they gave us 2.5 movies in one.


there was a lot going on, but at least i didn't feel like i was being treated like an idiot. there's some stupid stuff, though.
 
I found BvS far more interesting and engaging than AoU. Both are flawed but at least BvS tries to be original. AoU is generic as fuck which makes it boring and forgettable.

I'm so torn on Snyder. To use the comic book analogy again, I think he is a great artist. Just put an image of Cavill in the suit next to one of Brandon Routh in the suit. There's no comparison. Snyder's approach is a quantum leap forward. Look at his Batman suit versus the awful TDK suit. It makes such a difference when the director knows how to translate these characters to celluloid.

But as great a visual stylist as Snyder is, he needs to take a backseat when it comes to storytelling. Instead, Warner appear to be treating him like an auteur, letting him do whatever he wants. The problem is Snyder thinks he can do it all and he can't.

I made this comment I think earlier in this thread but it was like WB saw the issues with MoS and thought the solution was to give him more to work with.
 
Age of Ultron has better chemistry between the cast, a villain whose motivations made sense, gets the characters and The Vision. Even with all the flaws of that movie it still remains more consistently entertaining than BvS whose more concerned with attempting to have thematic depth that goes nowhere and abandons those ideals by the third act.
 
The movie exists so that Vision and Scarlet Witch can exist in the MCU. There is absolutely no other reason for it to exist. Nothing about it stands on its own.

Also, the plot is fundamentally nonsensical when you really break it down. What is Ultron actually trying to do at any point in time? So he recruits the twins to help him get some vibranium so that he can build a new vibranium body for himself with the help of some scientist in Seoul, so the whole second act is about stopping him from getting that body, only he gets a vibranium body anyway... and at that point he says fuck it and decides to drop a floating landmass on the planet. It's a big fat mess.

The only superhero I've seen with a more fundamentally broken, incoherent story was Batman Returns. (Quick, what is the actual plot of that movie?)

Movies like Age of Ultron and Tomorrowland, where absolutely nothing works at the story level, I always just wonder how they got made. Didn't anyone outline the plot structure in advance?

At least BvS contains its tie-ins to a dream scene and one inoffensive email scene. The whole goddamn movie isn't a tie-in.

It's a different discussion, and I'm thinking people who really enjoyed the movie would probably like to be spared all the jokes in here. Shit..some have come in and told people this thread is stupid multiple times. I'd leave things as they are, unless the point is to watch people fight..

I can only guess it's because the suits just don't know enough to make creative decisions and so they can't take the necessary action. And I think it's pretty well known that writers have no real power in Hollywood. So the director ends up doing what he wants.
 
Ultron could have been good if they had focused on the planet-killing plot from the beginning. Instead the entire second act exists solely to bring Vision into the film series. It's some of the clumsiest plotting I've seen in a blockbuster movie outside of the Bayformers series.

Tony tries to kill him, he tries to survive. Finds out humanity is basically garbage, wants to wipe us out.

Seemed pretty clear-cut to me. If all I had to go by to judge humanity was a war-torn history and the modern Internet, I'd logically conclude we're all monsters too.

I did not like Ultron. BvS is worse.

They're both pretty bad not sure why we're doing this.
 
What I don't understand is why Thanos still hasn't shown up.

It feels like they've been hyping him up for 10 years at this point. How many fucking movies does there have to be before he actually does something? Avengers 2 was the logical place for him and he was absent.

There also a problem with comparing the second avengers film with the supposed sequel to a superman movie that happens to star batman and also is jammed up with other heroes to get their cinematic universe off the ground.

You'd expect the avengers film to have too much shit for better or worse

Man of Steel 2, though? Not so much
