Did they actually show WW lasso Doomsday? Seemed like it cut straight to her with him all tied up, but I don't recall her actually taking it out and using it.

The most hated casting decisions turned out to be good if not great in the end

She wasn't in the movie long enough to get ruined. Give Snyder 200 minutes with her and he'll set back female protagonists 50 years.

And all those Man of Steel apologists who said "He's not Superman yet!" - guess what? He's still not Superman AND he died for nothing.

I think your correct. The lasso was awesome tho.

I agree, I liked basically everything to do with WW, even if the ending fight was sloppy. The mention of the lasso just reminded me I'd left wondering if I blacked out for a moment or something; her using it for the first time coulda been a good moment.

I wish someone had yelled at Lois for chucking the damn spear in the water, then somehow getting stuck trying to get it back, so then the least qualified person in the world has to go get it instead

Just got back from it. You don't see her take the lasso out, but you do see a shot of the lasso being thrown over him, granted you don't see her throw it.

I cringed hard during the "Do you bleed?" part of the movie.

Superman looked at Bats with an expression which said "dude do you hear yourself talk", flies away and you hear Batman mutter "You will". Yeah tough guy, threaten the guy when he's flying away!

This movie is NOT TDRK though. They just swiped some visual stuff for the fight.

Uh, that has nothing to do with that I'm saying

The guy is saying that because they already got to batman vs superman, they are done letting Zach Snyder molest that story.

I'm saying NOT SO FAST because Batman still is going after the joker. You bet your ass if they let Snyder handle that, he's going to be pissing all over TDKR again.

I just got back from it.

There's some (very few) decent elements in there, but they're completely trampled over by an incoherent, bloated mess of a story. I can't see what difference the Ultimate Cut will, or can make to it, the problems are so fundamental.

On a side note, I never want to see this Lex Luthor again.

Speaking of that line, does he bleed? He gets cut, and there's red underneath, but blood doesn't seem to actually come out. Same when doomsday stabbed him.

Just watched it. It was...interesting to say the least. Probably the weirdest superhero movie experience I have ever had. Would give it a 6/10 if I had to rate... maybe even a 5/10, but I will have to see.

And Batman totally killed people, right? He was just mowing down in that chase scene. Goddamnit, Zack Snyder! Keep Snyder away from DC, or better yet keep him away from movies in general. He is better suited to direct music videos.

Haha this is awesome. I have always been fans of bats and superman but I never put the mothers names together. I had a light bulb kick on during that scene.

Same here.

I was like WTF.
That was fucking brilliant Zack...

...so brilliant that I will ignore that you executed it poorly.

Batman didn't kill anyone

...his toys did.

But yeah, Batman totally killed people.

Why did I think Synder would deliver us a closer to cannon Batman.

I give him props for the fight scene, but that's easy for Synder.
Closest so far, which was almost ruined by the grenade fumble and kill shot.

Just got back from watching it.

This just made me realized how fucking fatigued I am from Marvel movies.

Big plusses for me fresh off the showing:

The entire Zod fight scene from Bruce's perspective. Brilliant way to set up how much reason he has to hate Superman.

Wonder Woman... Love the mystery about her. Gal Gadot did a really convincing job.

*****Lex' crazy manipulative personality.

Ben Affleck is brilliant as both Bruce and Batman.

Also, Bat don't give a fuck.

Quick negs:

*****Fucking hate Jesse Eisenberg as an actor. He's completely off pitch 90 percent of the time. Bad pick.

Superman's a dum dum. He doesn't know what the fuck to do with his powers or how to use them effectively.

Movie editing is a bit all over the place. Take a break, have a cup of tea, and gimme a less frantic directors cut.

Overall I really really liked it.

THE BAT BRAND OF JUSTICE: HAS THE BATMAN GONE TOO FAR!?

REPORTS FROM GOTHAM PENITENTIARIES CLAIM THE BAT BRAND IS THE EQUIVALENT OF A DEATH SENTENCE!

Also, fighting Batman in his car or plane is not the equivalent, it is an absolute death sentence. His moral code only applies when he's on foot so be on the lookout criminals!

NEXT TIME THEY SHINE YOUR LIGHT IN THE SKY, DON'T GO TO IT. THE BAT IS DEAD! CONSIDER THIS MERCY, because you see in the original script I would have confronted you due to your vigilantism and rampant brutalization of Gotham's citizens but given you the benefit of the doubt since many of your pursuits lead to criminal convictions. Now, me telling you this here, right after you just acted as judge, jury and executioner against what looked like a peaceful shipment of a rock, doesn't make any sense, almost as if this scene and previous branding concept belong to a different script - one where Batman doesn't kill.

CONSIDER THIS MERCY FOR THOSE MURDERS YOU JUST COMMITTED! NEXT TIME, I WILL BRING YOU IN!!

I went in knowing it was bad. So I actually enjoyed it in the ironic sort of way.

Although, to be honest, I really do want to see the sequels to this. You've got my money Warner Bro$

I did a lot of cringing in the theater. It was a lot of fun.

There's a lot to say here that's probably already been said, but one thing that was just bizarre was the nuke scene. Like, we as the audience KNOW the nuke won't work. But they throw the nuke at Supes anyway (?) also why did they so easily decide to nuke them anyway, I thought they were pretty clear that Supes was taking care of business at that point.

Anyone else notice the latin version of "Who watches the Watchmen" scribbled on the wall in the building where Batman and Superman fight? Just before Bats chucks him down the stairwell.

What were the dialogues during the Batman Lex confrontation at the end? I couldn't hear shit for some reason.

I forget what Batman said...

but Lex's was like 'they know the God is dead.' Then they showed the picture, which, I guess meant he knew Darkseid was coming, but again, it makes me question what Lex knew and when he knew it.

So the movie wasn't as bad as I expected given the reviews. It was too loud, too over the top, too cheesy at times, and the trio fight at the end felt cheap and undeserved...but it was still not complete crap. Snyder, though, really needs to go. During the fight at the end I felt like I was back on the set of 300. Wonder Woman smirked her way through the entire brawl and it felt like Leonidas reborn, which wasn't a good thing.

Btw Cavill wore a perma-scowl through the entire film. It was distracting.

Also, did anyone notice Lex's prisoner number? I could have sworn it contained "TK-421" 😏

My read:

It was flawed. I didn't hate it. The reception from the critics seems harsh to me.

Batman and everything connected to him was great. Affleck is the best adaption of the character.

All connection to first film: Flashback to Metropolis, Zod, Ship, etc were neat and cool.

Felt bad for Supes and we were meant to. So that worked. The Doomsday ending was a misstep.

The vs was good. As was the build up to it.

Lex was a surprise. Not what I wanted but it worked. And Eisenberg played this version as well as it could be played.

The plot is less disjointed than I was led to believe.

Didn't need the flashbacks to things that happened earlier in the film.

Felt real bad for Supe. Did I mention?

Real world logic on demigods is a bitch but it was quite refreshing to see it handled in such real world ways. Hearings, debates, etc.

Seems very unfair that this film has been so crucified.

Felt like a sequel to the first film with Batman, Wonder Woman and Lex. *shrugs*

There is clearly two films worth of story here and League stuff was hammered in. The clips of the leaguers were stupid but the Bruce meta-human discovery up to the logos/clipart was - if not elegant - unobtrusive.

Also the Knightmare did nothing but add time on the clock and look visually different.

Bring on the next one.

I can see how SS with fit into this now. With Supes 'death' they will be desperate and made the Squad necessary. That Batman with that Joker !! My god!

Amen, preach it brother. Agree with everything you say here.

Is there a comic book story where Batman fights a mind-controlled Superman and tries to make Clark snap out of it?

When this movie was first announced, that's how I thought the movie would go down. It's what made sense to me. Batman gets to fight Superman, but not to the friggin' death, but to save him and the city from himself. You know, he would actually be like a hero and shit.

In this movie, the world's greatest detective allows himself to be manipulated and played in the most obvious and least subtle manner like a fucking retard, and Superman with all his godlike strength is unable to utter two sentences to Batman and make him aware of the situation.

Terrio and Goyer, A Tale of Two Morons.

So Batman didn't even deliver on the threat he made at Superman's back when he was safely miles away.

God, this is seriously the most piss weak batman that I've ever seen.
Lol. Thinking about it, Superman didn't even bleed while weakend by Kryptonite. Poor Bats.

What were the dialogues during the Batman Lex confrontation at the end? I couldn't hear shit for some reason.
Mostly about Batman keeping an eye him and Lex being all crazy, "they're coming"

I feel like a lot of people really don't remember what they saw. I'm watching Collider's spoiler review and Ellis just brought up Wonder Woman's entrance and how the trailers spoil it when she saves both Batman and Superman's lives. Schnepp then adds the "She with you?" line...

...but...

The specifics of that scene were never shown in the trailer. Secondly, Superman wasn't even there. He didn't pop in until after Wonder Woman hit Doomsday with the shockblast from her bracelets. Then there is some brief dialog and then the "She with you" hits.

Not a big thing I guess but that kind of thing bothers me.

Right, but he didn't bleed. Skin separated and you saw a red mark, but no blood actually seemed to come out. Ergo, he didn't bleed.

Unless I'm wrong and it did, but I don't remember it happening.

well...fuck

lol

I never even thought about that. Probably just poor CG work, tbh.

lots of things in this movie that happened ..i just can't to remember happening like apprently there was mention of lex's father? i don't remember that . weird. well ..it was almost 3 hours so =/

Nah, just two and a half. He mentioned his father in the beginning when he was giving the two senators the tour.

It was only a single sentence mentioning that his father grew up in East Germany.

You can miss it. Once in a while Lex spoke directly to the person he was talking to, instead of just spitting out quotes.

I posted this in the other threat but I just wanted to add it here that this was a good movie, in fact I would take this movie over anything MCU has does in recent years. In fact I'd take this movie over Avengers and to me it's not even close.

And I'm not some DC fanboy, I generally prefer Marvel comics to DC comics.

I dont blame you. There are too many things going on and the entire movie is pretty messy. Its hard to remember everything.

Lois Lane looked older than Clark Kent, was done on purpuse or they just pick an older actress?

Or is because Superman grows slowler than humans ?

I just don't get why Lex was so fucking manic. You can have him be young, a Zuckerberg type charismatic new CEO, but also have him be calculated and cold, and not come off as a madman. He was channeling his inner Joker way too hard. I don't get the direction on that.

Maybe make him go insane after accessing the Kryptonian Archive, but ugh.

I absolutely don't think that BvS is a 2 out of 10 movie (I know that's not how RT works). I'm bit shellacked at the critical drumming the movie is getting. Because yes, it's a flawed film in many ways but there's been shittier movies with better critical reception. Then again, I'm a big fan of Zack Snyder, and I positively loved Man of Steel, so there's that.

The highs of BvS are really goddamn HIGH imo. Ben Affleck is the Bruce Wayne/Batman that I always wanted to see onscreen. He's straight out of the comics, and the fact that this is his movie made things way better for me. I mean Batman is my favorite comic book character so to see him this...imposing, dark scary and badass...This is what I've been waiting 20 years to see. This is Batman! On the flipside, I thought it wouldn't bother me but yeah...seeing Batman KILL so many people so ruthlessly was jarring.

Also for a Superman who had to make the hard decision to kill at the end of MoS, he sure didn't give a shit about Batman being this murderous. I expected him to actually tell Batman to give up on his vigilantism because of his brutality (considering the big chase scene before) but it was like : "Lol fuck off and your batlight.

I also really hated Jesse Eisenberg's take on Lex Luthor. He never felt like a threatening mastermind, if only because his plot doesn't make sense at all. I have no idea what he wants. Apparently to kill Superman. Maybe Batman too. Because. I don't know why. It's like I should accept that he's an evil mastermind because he's named Lex Luthor. He spent a year trying to goad Batman into killing Superman (with letters Batman...didn't see). Which didn't really need to happen because Batman decides to fuck up Superman on his own. Then he set ups the big fight and makes Doomsday...A guy that might blow up the world. Because....err...Why again? I don't know. It's muddled. Then he makes a weird reference to Darkseid at the end and it just makes thing even more fucked up. Why does he hate Superman this much? Because he is afraid of his power? Then why make fucking Doomsday. Nothing made sense about him. A huge let down.

The bigger DCCU elements were a tad...hamfisted. But also necessary. I got a big kick of seeing Cyborg especially. Sure it's a bit cheesy and honestly felt slightly artificial, but at the same time my fanboy heart was happy at Wonder Woman watching trailers of Aquaman and Flash that Batman fucking linked her haha. I only found the "Flash" scene to be a bit out of the left field. Everything else was pretty cool. I mean, I'd watch that Knightmare as a full movie.

It all sounds very negative, but the parts that worked, worked very goddamn well. The Batman and Superman fight was fantastic. It was the fight I wanted to see onscreen, and it was everything that it needed to be. I don't get the comments that the movie is devoid of fun. The fight was just filled with crazy cool shots. The big Batman raid on the warehouse was an ASTOUNDING action sequence IMO. I actually felt more scared/impressed with the Russian merc as a villain than Luthor. And the big Doomsday finale was a goddamn rush too. Doomsday really felt like the big threat that needed Supes/Batman/WW to defeat. And Gal Gadot.....hhnnnng. Wonder Woman was pitch fucking perfection. I cannot wait to see her adventures. She was sexy, badass, mysterious. Everything she needed to be.

Did the action scenes top the Smallville fight from MoS? No. But they didn't really need to. I actually got invested enough in the characters, to shed a single man tear at Lois "Martha is his mother's name", at the end of the big brawl. That kind of emotional punchline makes the whole battle that much better to me. This is a big, clunky, at times messy movie with a lot of moving parts. Some that really works, some that doesn't. But I don't think it's "The worst blockbuster in a decade". There's some stuff that could have hit the cutting room floor ("Look at this fucking weird bullet subplot, and explodey angry worker"), but...I don't know. It's still far from a bad movie. It's a good movie in fact. Nobody does comic book visuals like Zack Snyder.

I mean there's a review on RT that says that this is worse than Batman and Robin. That's horseshit. Just the opening credits are better than both of Schumacher's movies together.
