Why didn't the Russian guy just torch Martha? He was under orders that if Superman tried to save her, she dies. Why didn't he just assume Superman was out there fucking people up? It's not like you kidnap Ma Kent and expect to get away unscathed. What does he think will happen when Superman hears his mother screaming in agony as she burns to death? That he's just gonna get away?

Do we really need him to twirl his (imaginary) mustache and go "I want to take over the world! Mwahahah!".
He's evil. He has no regard for life. He's immensely powerful. He has pull with the US government. He works with terrorists in other countries and orchestrated something that leads to slaughter of a village.
It's obvious that a man like him will always want more and more power and Superman stands in his way, there is no reason for them to add yet another plot point and give him another immediate specific purpose other than "just" killing the most powerful man on earth who can stop him and who he thinks doesn't belong on the planet. It also doesn't hurt that in the process he gains access to alien knowledge that could give him even more power.

...yeah. Again, it would be nice.

I absolutely loved this film. I get people's point with the start, but it works. I loved every character, Lois was a bit annoying but everything else just had so much character and sets up...everything, while most of it pays off too.

Also, Batman kills like, 5 people tops, TOPS. Wonder Woman always loves a fight, Superman is still...yes, still early Superman. He will shine big time in Justice League. I barely caught most of what Flash said but that was amazing. About the only part that felt like fan service was the length of the scene with WW watching the other meta.

I was also ecstatic to see Bruce/Bats investigating something. Loved it!

I also feel like most peoples negative opinions...aren't their own. Everyone I know who didn't get poisoned by "critics" loves the film. Loves. Everyone I know that's seen these mostly idiotic reviews...is unsure. They're unsure because they want to like it but think they're wrong since "everyone" says it sucks.

I want Snyders vision for Justice League, it'll be beautiful.

You can ask the same type of question for basically any movie ever made, there are plot points in movie that have easy solutions for the audience, yet the movie goes on a different direction.

I really believe this movie is getting nitpicked over the smallest details, when it is just a dumb movie popcorn flick that cant be sccrutinized to that degree.

It did bother me how Batman just killed some people in this.

The movie was oddly paced. I'm not sure if it was editing or the script, but that shit didn't flow well. On top of Jessie's performance as Lex, Lex's plans didn't seem coherent and the lack of depth just brought it down further. Also, why would you introduce Mercy Graves just to kill her off like that?

I've been giving you explanations and my reasoning, you are just going "no, I don't want this", so yeah you're right, it will just go in circles.

You are suggesting that linking Luthor's character to further reasoning on why he is trying to kill Superman leaves him as a twirling mustache villain.

...in opposition to the version we have where he just wants to kill Superman. Yup, no mustache twirling there!

I wonder how much they paid Michael Shannon to be a dead body that gets his fingerprints cut off and blood dripped on his face.

So, is this the last time people here are going to look upon early impressions with hope? Also, how hilarious that people were gloating and promising big things during all those screenings.

I like how Bruce's dad's last words were "Martha" even though his son was looking down the barrel of a gun. Give the kid some words of hope, Tom!

Good analisis.

I agree with this, is this meant to be intentional?
Snyder himself said he was going for the Watchmen tone and similar themes

btw

"Must there really be a Superman?"

"...Well there is one"

is probably one of the best lines in the movie

That whole scene is very reminiscent of the Watchmen film in how it was cut and executed.

It's not a nitpick. Lex Luthor makes a point of saying "If you try to save Martha, she dies." And the movie goes back on that.

You could still have the bad guys stick to their word. I'm not saying the plan is stupid, I'm saying that they don't follow their own plan. It's something that could easily be avoided if batman maybe targeted the room Martha was held in first. These aren't nitpicks because it's something that they could have easily written around, but for some reason decided not to.

lol. that's about 5 too many for some.

Haha. "Ok, he sucks in this one again. Just wait til the next movie though!"
This is Superman now. With Snyder making Justice League, it's probably gonna be Superman for a while.

And only 1 of those were really Bats doing it...the others were by proxy.

Also...Man of Steel was what it was. Superman is clearly shown to have his faults in this film too...and it was the point of this film. It's literally the point.

Batman has been active for some 20+ years and as someone said before, this was a redeeming time for Batman. They'll form the league, Superman will be All-star.

Lastly, of course we can have films that lead to plot points in others...isn't that the point? I say this about Superman and the wait for his greatness. He killed, lead to the destruction of so much, is now obsessed with Lois, he finally gets the point at the end and died for it. When he returns, he will be great.

The movie is structurally a mess (the editing is horrible) but despite that I really enjoyed it. The beginning and ending are the strongest parts.

I think one of the stronger points is the brief moments that hint of Batman's past 20 years and why he is what he is now. I didn't mind this version of Batman at all.

This Batman is the most literal interpretation of the Caped Crusader I've seen on the silver screen so far. He's on a crusade against Superman, and the only thing he has at this point is his conviction that he can leave a legacy for the world. His means are medieval, the branding of foes, how he's standing there as a dark knight in shining armour.

Everything he does in this film up until the fight is to make this crusade a success. He knows from the beginning the White Portuguese is delivering a weapon that can kill his enemy, that is revealed when Alfred starts calling him out on his lies.

It's no coincidence that the weapon he forges is a spear. A weapon that is extremely similar to the Holy Lance, the lance of Longinus, the spear of Destiny, the weapon that pierced the side of Jesus as he hung on the cross. And in this film Superman is helpless the moment Batman wants to stab him.

In this universe this character makes sense.

I'm coming to think that one's enjoyment of this movie lives or dies on whether you can get behind this version of Batman (and Superman to a lesser extent).

In one car maybe. He flipped a car that landed in another car that had 3 dudes in it. I am thinking the kill count might be a bit higher. Not to mention apparently whoever he brands dies in jail. Which i didnt understand. Does Batman have supporters on the inside?

I wonder how much they paid Michael Shannon to be a dead body that gets his fingerprints cut off and blood dripped on his face.

Awhile back I wanted to write a story where some villains breed Kryptonians on a space station in orbit around a red sun, and when they get to a certain age, flay off all their skin and attach it Terminator-style to a power armor frame so that you have what's essentially invincible armor if you're in a yellow star system.

Could lead to some unsettling imagery where JL members are fighting a Kryptonian Leatherface.

The Batman brands the worst of the worst

Like if they are branded in jail they are likely to be things like pedos, etc, people who never have a good time in Jail, thus the branding makes them stick out

I think it's kinda like how child molesters don't survive in prison. They see the brand, they know they did something very wrong that even criminals see as awful.

Ahhh i see. Thanks.for that

I saw the movie. Holy randomness Batman.

  1. Where the hell did Doomsday come from?
  2. Why would Lex create Doomsday, citing he wanted to kill a 'god', but not find a way to control such a thing?
  3. Why did they wrap up Zod's ship in tinfoil, leave it in the middle of Metropolis, and call it a day?
  4. What was the point of Wonder Woman in the movie? She was literally thrown in 20 minutes towards the end of the movie
  5. Why did Batman not do further research into the effects of Kryptonite on Superman before challenging him?
  6. Speaking of Kryptonite, how the hell did anyone even know it was and where it was from?
  7. Why didn't anyone ask how Superman survived the explosion?
  8. Why didn't the miltiary seemingly give up on pursing Doomsday after their weapons failed? They just left the superheroes to fight alone just because.
  9. If Clark is buried in Kansas, who or what is in the casket in Metropolis?

I mean, where is the direction in this movie?

Pedophiles are instant targets in jail..it's kind of a big thing. When the prisoners see the brand, they know what the person did, so they go after them.

Edit-

Beaten like Supes..

Saw it today finally. Movie wasn't as terrible as critics say but it's not as good as the defenders say either. There were some good moments and there were mostly bad moments. It's hard to get my thoughts together on it but my conclusion is that the studio wants Justice League out so fast and this movie suffered for it.

You know where Doomsday came from. Zod and Lex DNA mixed together.
No point to Wonder Woman. She just happened to be in town.
People don't ask how Superman survived cause people know Superman is Superman.

So can someone explain wtf is the Knightmare after all? It is a dream? but why the fuck would Batman dream about Parademons?

I think/hope/pray the director's cut will make for a better movie, adding more context and exposition so [especially the first half of] the movie makes more sense.

Our very own Betty made that..shit is going global lol.

My bad, I went back a few pages since it was put on the 24th, but evidently not far enough, but also searched for that particular video string and didn't get a hit either.

My younger brother has been waiting forever for this movie, he's going to be devastated.

Where the hell did Doomsday come from?

Lex made him with the ship. Mixed his dna with Zod's.

Why would Lex create Doomsday, citing he wanted to kill a 'god', but not find a way to control such a thing?
]Why did they wrap up Zod's ship in tinfoil, leave it in the middle of Metropolis, and call it a day?
No clue as to why he had no way to control him. Seems like something that was cut.
Zod's ship was wrapped up by the government to study it, I believe.

[*]What was the point of Wonder Woman in the movie? She was literally thrown in 20 minutes towards the end of the movie
No real point.

]Why did Batman not do further research into the effects of Kryptonite on Superman before challenging him?
]Speaking of Kryptonite, how the hell did anyone even know it was and where it was from?
For the first one, he was just using the data he stole from Lex. Didn't have a Kryptonian to test anything on.
The government, or was it Lexcorp, were the ones who found Kryptonite. It was toward the start of the movie, mentioned it was radioactive and broke down Krptonian cells.

[*]Why didn't anyone ask how Superman survived the explosion?
Why didn't the miltiary seemingly give up on pursing Doomsday after their weapons failed? They just left the superheroes to fight alone just because.
No one seemed to have time to ask.
After nukes failed there's bot much they can do. The general(?) even mentioned their weapons only making Doomsday stronger.
[]If Clark is buried in Kansas, who or what is in the casket in Metropolis?

I mean, where is the direction in this movie?
Bricks and the costume maybe.

The direction of the movie? No clue.
