Batman v Superman Spoiler Thread: Don't believe everything you read, Son

You know where Doomsday came from. Zod and Lex DNA mixed together.
No point to Wonder Woman. She just happened to be in town.
People don't ask how Superman survived cause people know Superman is Superman.

There was commentary by the government on how the nuke would kill Superman and they did it anyway. He is seemingly killed like they predicted, revived by the sun and you don't hear anything (amazement, bewilderment) from the military. In fact, you don't hear anything from the military again because they have seemingly given up on trying to fight Doomsday, which doesn't make any sense at all given how big of a threat he is.

Yeah. They treated the security of the nation in the same fashion as getting locked into the sharpshooter.

Military is just there to move the kryptonite (and Doomsday) plot forward, and to add some explosions into the mix.

I thought you were talking about the Senate explosion.

I'd posted in the wrong thread before, but the trailer for this movie really did damage my viewing experience. There were literally no surprises left.

The most interesting thing to me was Flash popping through time to warn Batman. Half dead Flashes warning of future catastrophe is Ind of a staple at this point right? Or was that just an iconic thing in CoIE?

For those that follow this stuff, is the Supergirl shows supposed to be canon with the movies? Where do the Arrow and Flash shows end up falling?

Well, if the government's biggest most powerful weapon, a nuclear bomb, doesn't stop Doomsday what else can they do?

Also, Wonder Woman was there looking for who stole her picture.

No clue as to why he had no way to control him. Seems like something that was cut.
Zod's ship was wrapped up by the government to study it, I believe.

I'm sorry, I don't think the government is going to wrap up an alien ship in tinfoil and leave in a populated city to study, especially when everyone knows what it is. That sort of thing would be transported somewhere more secure.

After nukes failed there's bot much they can do. The general(?) even mentioned their weapons only making Doomsday stronger.

Even so, the military would track such a thing to at least attempt to contain it, not just pretty much disappear completely. That's the part that bewildered me the most.

I think/hope/pray the director's cut will make for a better movie, adding more context and exposition so [especially the first half of] the movie makes more sense.

I need this explained to me. I just saw it with my kids. We found it very easy to follow. What didn't make sense?

That was weird to me too. I just sorta rolled with it, they could have at least said cleanup is taking a long time to explain why it's there.

The movie dropped the ball there.

This is the first time these two heroes been on screen together in live-action and then it had to be fucked up. It's a damn shame. I was really hoping it would be good .

There were a good bunch of people saying before when trailers and clips dropped, saying its unfair to judge it out of context when it was in the same context in the film. Future trailers from this point on have me worried.

I have to think they didnt had the means to move that from that location,

What made you think they stopped trying? The movie did stop showing Military stuff as to tell the audience, "they cant do no more", but this doesnt mean the goverment just gave up.

^^I just think Snyder could of changed some things around, added a bit more dialogue and this movie would of been better. The current product just leaves me (and I'm sure others by the reviews I've read) more questions and Nick Young puzzled looks.

Because I didn't see the military at all, not even a helicopter tracking Doomsday. I mean, a little bit of dialogue between officials or a news report telling the people the government is working on putting down the monster could of gone a long way. By not showing them at all, it just seems....off.

Seriously. Can't believe anyone would make this into an issue. They flat out say they don't know what to do. We don't the battle to then be interrupted by more scenes of guys in suits saying they dont know what to do or authorizing more useless airstrikes as Bay would do.

I saw the movie this morning, it was pretty bad.

The plot feels rushed and forced just to introduce characters without fleshing them out. Also the scene transitions were rough, not smooth at all which is really jarring to the experience. The fight between Batman and Superman was maybe 5 minutes long? It didn't live up to the hype either. Doomsday seemed too powerful, Batman was outmatched lol.
Also Lex was a dick, he was responsible for so many deaths.

I'd give it a 5/10.

My bad, I went back a few pages since it was put on the 24th, but evidently not far enough, but also searched for that particular video string and didn't get a hit either.

My younger brother has been waiting forever for this movie, he's going to be devastated.

Just because some of us here don't like it doesn't mean that you won't.
You want to see Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman working together? You're going to get that. You want a fucking badass Batman? You're going to get that.

Real talk, who in this movie wasn't directly or indirectly responsible for deaths?

Just got back. About as bad as predicted. Man the pacing was bad. Casting Eisenberg was a huge mistake. He was chewing scenery the whole movie.

It is hard to place the blame since so much shit went wrong. It often felt like 10 writers were writing for one movie at times.

Got a couple questions that I need clarification for, with heavy spoilers, obviously:

1)
Following the dream sequence Knightmare, was that a speedster speaking to Bruce via the Speedforce's timetravel mechanics? If so, which? It didn't look like Ezra Miller's Flash to me.
2)
When Bruce gets the returned checks at his Wayne Enterprises office with red fonts saying: "Your family is dead because of you" or something along those lines, who wrote it? Why?
3) I didn't understand the whole sidestory with
Lois Lane and that piece of metal fragment/bullet
.

The fight really didn't have any build up either, it just happened, like a lot of shit in this movie.

1. It was him.
2. Lex.
3. Lex is evil.

For two, it was Lex, to remind Bruce that he was powerless to stop loved ones to get killed and push him to act against Superman.

3. Useless plot than didnt served for anything but to bloat the movie more.

Spoiler thread, so no need to tag.

1. It was Ezra Miller's Flash
2. It was part of Lex's plan to get Bruce to hate Superman, because I guess Lex knows Bruce Wayne in Batman.
3. Lex Luthor hired a private-militia to shoot up locals to paint Superman in a bad light. I don't know exactly how. For some reason he decides to supply the militia with bullets that can be traced back to him.

Was it traced to him or did they just came to that conclusion?

It was the Flash in his time travel suit, basically.

So, can we assume that the "Batman steals Luthor's Kryptonite scene was cut"?

I forgot how it happened until I was reminded in this thread. Gosh, the editing in this film is poor.

But I don't think a sequence of Batman stealing the Kryptonite was cut; there's no way they'd release this with less Batman fight scenes than they filmed. It was probably written into the script as it appears; Batman breaks into LexCorp and steals the Kryptonite off-screen.

There where a lot of bodies and people hurt, it might've been a brutal scene.

For those that follow this stuff, is the Supergirl shows supposed to be canon with the movies? Where do the Arrow and Flash shows end up falling?
They're 4 separate universes.

  1. Arrow/Flash/Legends of tomorrow (CW)
  2. Supergirl (CBS)
  3. Gotham (FOX)
  4. Man of Steel/BvS (DC Cinematic Universe)

CW Flash knows that there's alternative universes and can travel between them but he probably won't ever go to the film or fox universe cause of business reasons. Hes crossing over to the Supergirl universe this Monday on Supergirl (same production company behind CW Flash is in charge of Supergirl).

Since we (mostly) all agree Zack sucks, anyone wanna start a petition to have Batffleck direct Batman and JLA?

Too late for JL, shooting starts in less than 2 weeks. The Batman movie probably will not have Snyder attached to it because he will probably be working on JL2 in the meantime.

I enjoyed Batman prepping and beating up Superman.

That his reason for doing so ended up being "He had some bad dreams and Lex sent him letters about his family dying" was some Star Wars episode 3 level bullshit.

Way too many flashbacks, dreams, alternate universe nonsense.

That opening did not have to be a dream. You could literally cut right at Bruce looking up as he's being circled by bats, and stop there. But instead, he starts floating, and my friends and I, if we weren't like "WTF?!", we were just laughing. There's a lot of that in this movie. They didn't at any point have to take it as far as they did.

Why are people calling it Zod's ship? That's the same ship Clark found in the Arctic. The usb key still in the port was the one Zod used to quarentine and delete Jor-El's A.I.

None of it was needed. Like that "knightmare" scene is completely pointless and seemingly only there to be cool, I guess?

I mean... it more or less triggers Batman's actual intent on killing Superman. And I get why it's there, I get what it's suggesting, but also because I know DC Comics stuff. If I didn't? I'd be totally confused, especially when it comes out of fucking nowhere.

But if you just have Flash show up in Bruce's lair, set that scene up by him going "this is what happens to you in the future", then it atleast makes some level of coherent sense. Instead it tries being this abstract thing to the audience who wants and needs to know what it is this is suggesting.

Just saw it today.

1) Eisenberg as Lex is the worst CBM casting in a long, long time.
2) The Lois and Supes romance was out of place in such a dark film, and really took away from the final battle.
3) Affleck's Batman is the best yet, and I can't wait to see more
4) WW was pretty one note which concerns me about her solo film
