I think that premise is good. Starting the League out without its heavy hitter (Superman), meaning that you can focus more on the character's individual strengths.
BvS was a mess in part so they could get to Justice League, so I hope it's worth it.
I don't think he'll direct JL. I'm starting to think that there's a reason George Miller is a producer on JL out of nowhere.
There's just no way the studio didn't know this film would be received this way. It's a mess and the execs who gave it a standing ovation should be fired.
But it says a lot about these movies that their principal hero is too inconveniently powerful for his own universe. If these weren't pre-existing and known characters, no one would make a movie like this. Because it's stupid.
To be fair aside from batman/Alfred that was easily the best aspect of this film
No other superhero movies aside from X2 perhaps deal with a superpower character that realistically
And none have ever depicted city destruction like this did with that Bruce scene. It makes superheroes and their generic city battles actually look terrifying for once.
At the very least we wouldn't have to go through more "but she doesn't have the physique of X character in the comics! How is she going to fight with those skinny arms!"
Wonder Woman using the lasso was so damn DOPE. Did not expect them to showcase that. She was great against Doomsday and overall, even being in the movie so briefly.
- Flawless opening. Excellent second scene (metropolis).
- The party scene is so good.
-
I liked that they got Jenny back again!
- The second time it becomes more apparent that the scenes, so far at least, are good, just very out of order, or super cut, specially
the whole Africa part, and the sudden, and brief, Senate hearing.
-
That ten seconds scenr with Scott and the senator? Cut. Why was it there?
- This movie really lacks stablishing shots. Things just.. happen.
I'm talking about the Bruce/Diana meeting at the museum. Nice scene, btw.
- The fucking knightmare, man, wtf. Cut that shit out. Dat cgi.
- Man, this movie really needs a 5 hours cut or something. I love all that's happening, but it makes no sense in itself.
-
"Judge, jury, executioner."
Brutal, Lex.
- Lois parts scream "cut"
-
KGBeast is a nice touch
- I'm not crazy abuot the batmobile part, feels a bit like a Nolan rethread, but uncanny valley kicks in. Also, Burton Batman is best batman.
- "Do you bleed" is pure cheese. Dialogue is good so far, but.. just no.
- The batcave entrance is badass
- "People hate what they don't understand".. against, wtf is with the cuts, jesus Christ, expecting the scenes make them worse, not better.
- I think this movie suffers from a bit of Phantom Menace Syndrome. There is no main character.
- Wait. there are two oldest lies? I feel it's a recap to the joker scars thing but here.. it doesn't work.
- The courtroom scene was nuts. It tries hard, but it lacks.. gravitas. The immediate shot o Superman screams MoS level criticism for years to come, and it's the only part I can confidently say Cavill's acting SUCKED
- Of course a likely badass Batman scene was cut and we only got an out of context reaction
- I have no complaints about tone. It's on point. The cinematography is amazing and there are very few unpleasant shots.
- I can't with the editing.
- Loved when
Bruce discovers Diana is immortal. You can feel the surprise.
- Luthor
being the one baptizing JL members was weird.
¨, but I think it's not worse than it being Cisco on the Flash show.
-
I don't get what the Pa kent scene is supposed to mean, or how did it happen. but it's funny seeing him fatter in dead lol. If it was a remembrance, which I think it was, him saying "I miss you son" was a bit like Clark wishing? I dunno
- The Batman setting up traps part SHOULD HAVE BEEN, no doubt about it, just after
the Bruce/Alred speech, not after Martha was kidnapped.
That made no sense. The
Lois
part too. Man, this movie has the most baffling editing ever made. Seriously. It pains because what's happening is soo good.
- Luthor is very fun, but underdeveloped. I like everything he does but.. why does he does it?
- Superman flying always looked great.
- Rooftop lex scene = boss
- Just when things get exciting.. emails. Yeah. Don't do that again Zack. Should have been post credits. For real. And I hate post-credits.
- batman is a damn cheater bastard
- You know, I kinda hate Batman in the fight. Shit is visceral.
- Once is enough for seeing
Wayne's death.
The message was obvious
- From all the
Bat-killings,
the only one that I still don't like is the stabbing. Omg. Cold blooded
- Hey, Superman saved
Lex from Doomsday
. That's gotta count right?
- Superman money shots! Love them!
- I Think she's kinda hot
- This movie does channel Watchmen
- Yep. Screams again. This movie is a 3 hours trailer for Woder Woman.
- B-man be like, yeah, I'm fine from here.
- Can we have a movie where Superman doesn¿t come off as a creep to Lois. He's kinda beta here. Still cute though.
- This is my world = GOAT song of the OST.
- You know, I disagree with most people here. This movie saved the lois-Clark relationship. I do feel for them.
- Jesse has a low standard for "best scene of my carreer" lol
- I think there was a little homage to
Superman Returns
with Perry here.
- OMG I didn't notice they MEGA SPOILER
They Did kill Clark! It's on the planet!. Fuck. I bet Perry knows.
- The feels, they still hit.
- I almost forgot it was you until the cannon Zack. Thanks for reminding me!
- OK the
candle crowd
is pretty good.
- I really like batman's arc. It should be clearer, but I love it, really. Very emotional.
- Fuck, that lex' final scene. When this movie hits, it hits it hard. Great stuff, and kinda unsettling.
- Inception!
Welp, there goes my second viewing. I can't, I really can't dislike this movie. I try hard, it's flawed, he, it's downright the worst made commercial movie I've ever seen, but it has a soul, it brings some great messages, it's a labour of love from a crazy lover.
In conclusion, the first hour + sucks because nothing is ever explained, but everything post-fight is good to great. Editing is the worst ever done, but if you can fill in the blanks, you realize it's a story worth telling. Snider started the hype again with the lastest JL teases and explanations for this movie's ending. Well, while I kinda hate him (professionally) for butchering one of the smartest screenplays I've ever felt in a CBM.. I'm hearing, at the distance, the whistle of the hype train, coming, again.
I don't even think it's eisenbergs fault lol. If they wanted him to play it more straight he would have been able to.
I blame snyder and terrio. They asked for that neurotic thing
And seeing as how balls out this universe has already become I think a flashpoint paradox flash movie is inevitable at this point. That is obviously gonna happen in at least a flash sequel.
People hire Eisenberg for that. He was a bit more over the top in this, but the underlying character is basically the same one he played in the Social Network, Zombieland, Now you See Me, etc.
Yes, neurotic! This is why I interpreted him as the son always living in his father's shadow--his father being classic Lex we all know from the comic. All his neuroses was to me borne from insecurity and a need to overcompensate. He even loses his hair in a basic ass way, can't even do it properly as part of a scheme. I liked his portrayal seen through that lens even if he annoyed me in some scenes.

Without it's heavy hitter? Aquaman is on par with Superman in body strength, he lives in the deep sea in high pressure and Wonder Woman is arguably not far from or on the same level. And while Flash doesn't have the same physical strength, he can certainly wreck havoc with his speed.
You don't waste the death of Superman with this shit. Have him busy with some alien threat or surveying parts of space on behalf of NASA or something, if you want him out of the way.

There was another, more practical reason that Snyder decided to go this route, as well. He felt Justice League, which begins shooting April 11, would be a stronger story if it didnt have Superman assembling the team.
I wanted Bruce Wayne to build the Justice League, Snyder tells EW.

I think the floating dirt was a mandate by the studio. I just don't see them agreeing to kill off Superman without showing a sign that he's coming back even if people would assume he'd come back.
CW Flash knows that there's alternative universes and can travel between them but he probably won't ever go to the film or fox universe cause of business reasons. Hes crossing over to the Supergirl universe this Monday on Supergirl (same production company behind CW Flash is in charge of Supergirl).
I'm pretty sure there's only one oldest lie. The Senator interrupts him the first time, and this Lex pretty much has OCD so it eats him up inside that he never got to finish his line.

Yikes, this movie was a complete mess. Poor script made even worse by the awful editing.
I'm really curious to see if there'll be a fan edit that attempts to salvage it. Let the scenes play out without jumping around so much and also remove like an entire hour from the film. There might possibly be a somewhat decent 90 minute movie buried in there somewhere.
Also, my theater was packed and there was barely any reaction at all for The Flash/Aquaman/Cyborg teasers. I was kinda surprised by that. Only moment that really got an applause was Wonder Woman showing up near the end.
He still needs solo films. If you cycle between solo Batman and Batman League films, you can have twice as much Batman without people complaining that you are making too many Batman sequels.
