Dark Souls III [Import OT] Kindle the fire, one last time

Didn't read it here, but it appears to be 40 now for most. VIT seems to be 50.

40? Whoo boy. Do we have any idea what the level range is for coop this time around? Same as Bloodborne? Cause I'm gonna be aiming for some prettttty high levels if I'm really going to go with the dex/int/fth build.

Dude, how do you get there? I keep asking and no one tells me!

Did you kill the boss in the r
oyal
g
ardens
?

From there:
Continue until you reach an apparent dead end. Open up the hidden door. Now you are in the same old firelink shrine, but dark and filled with more difficult enemies.

wat. Where is this?? You have to be a little specific because I'm on the JP version. I don't even know if I've been to the
royal garden.

Any tips for
the abyss watchers.I've got 2 thirds of his health off. When others spawn should I be letting them fight each other?

I'm surprised you know all this considering you had no way of knowing what went on at all, to hear you tell it.

You are a disingenuous condescending asshole. I can see the giant with the design from Dark Souls 2 giants. I can see the giant tree in Firelink Shrine. I said not being able to read any of the text in the game means I get much less out of the story and you're acting like this is a crazy claim because this is Dark Souls 3 and Miyazaki worked on it and it's the best. You're going on my ignore list.

I killed the old lady in the first area (the one who gave the banner)
and then had to fight a boss that looked like the lamb woman from bloodborne.

after 8,000 tries I did it

behind her opened an area to some castle

the castle is fucking insane

it's mostly the same type of enemies as the first area, but these ones kill you in one or two hits
agghhh

This isn't really a good way to have a discussion about the lore in this game.

I have one unresolved exploration thing left in I
rithyll
, and would appreciate help finding the right way.

Going from the C
entral
I
rithyll
bonfire in this direction:
screenshot-originalaiuki.png

The first side path to the left has a gate that opens from the other side:
screenshot-original12zuz1.png

How do I get to the area behind this gate? I went through a large part of the area trying to look for hidden walls, drop down points and so on, but I have not been successful getting there.

yeah i searched and did not find a way in

Didn't read it here, but (only spoils stat soft caps):

Vigor: health breakpoints around 25 and 40
Attunement: breakpoint around 40 for FP gain, 30 for slot gain (6 levels between slots up to 30, 10 afterwards)
Endurance: stamina breakpoint around 40
Vitality: 1 equip load per level always
Strength: breakpoint at 40
Dexterity: breakpoint at 40
Intelligence: breakpoint at 40
I couldn't find any easy way from this to tell how dexterity effects spell casting speed, short of going through with the respec and taking video clips for several values of dex

ty sir!

youre slow JC!

royal garden.

I think this area is on the main path, but ok:
In the high wall area (first real area after firelink tutorial), you will fight the dancer boss in a church type building (go straight up the stairs from the Voldt boss bonfire, continue straight and enter the building). After this, examine the altar in the room to make a ladder drop down. At this point, the left path gets you to the royal garden and the right path gets you to the castle.

Right, it's referenced, but it has no place in the world. Like there should be people from Drangleic showing up, but there aren't because they knew everybody would hate that. Instead they just add in things like the little poison turtle monsters as references. DS2 has nothing to do with the story, and it actually makes the story make less sense (like remember how
Tower of Flame was supposed to be Anor Londo?
.

I guess the point is that while I'm glad Dark Souls III redeems the series, it's still a shame that Dark Souls II is still garbage that ruined the storyline.

everybody? talk for yourself man. Not everyone has that irrational hate for Dark Souls II.

The game is awesome but I think most agree: fuck swamps.

I love it when you can't move any faster than walking speed and roll like an obese seal.

Said no one ever.

This. Some people are projecting like crazy when it comes to Dark Souls 2. It's a piece of shit game, all the players hate it, Miyazaki hates it and refuses to acknowledge it, each copy sold results in the death of 5 baby seals, etc.

I am disappointed to see that they did (lore ish spoiler?)
leave behind some of Dark Souls 2's cooler concepts and moments (Aldia, The Old Chaos)

I think the performance gets worse the longer you go without turning off your PS4. I'm having slowdown in old areas that didn't have slowdown before.

Anyone know which option I should pick when running into
patches
for the first time? The character in question is in firelink and I have two options
forgive him
or
do not forgive him
.

But I mean, that's why it happened lol

Maybe just Miyazaki hates it, but still. Somebody hates it!

I don't know what happened because I didn't play the game.

Just saying that not everyone would hate DS2 references in DS3 like you said. I'm actually looking forward to the lore tho have both DS1 and DS2 stuff in it. If not, well then it's a shame IMO.

It's got giant fucking
crabs
tho

Edit: actually, now that I think about it there are like
3
swamp areas.

Farron's Keep
is what I'd say the swamp area is since there's poison BS everywhere and your movement is slowed. The other ones aren't really like that.

Skipping around a lot reading this thread because I'm getting this on PS4 when it releases in the US, does anybody want to write up some spoiler-free impressions they have of the game please? I'm struggling to enjoy Dark Souls II and I've been a fan of the series since Demons' launched in the US. Much appreciated!

Three?!
Not gonna complain too much without playing the game myself first, but man. At least
crabs
are cool.

In other news, I couldn't handle the hype and started a new Dark Souls 2 playthrough. Hope I won't burn myself out on Souls stuff before DkS3 is out.

Haven't got the game myself yet, but going by general impressions, it seems to be very close to DkS1 aside from some mediocre areas. I'm sure you'll like it!

WoG sucks, rip Faith builds.

the problem is that it takes too long to cast, even with the ring. unless high Dex makes the cast much faster (is that even confirmed?) it's just awful for pvp. the damage isn't even very high.
even if Dex makes casting faster there are too many stat points needed for it to be an actual decent build.

That's disappointing to hear. Looks like Pyro is the way to go for magic shenanigans.

I don't know why people say that the game has no DS2 references.

Pretty sure I
rithyll
is a big throwback to
Ivory King
. I mean the bridge bosses in both areas are even pretty similar >.>

I disagree, world 5, blight town and whatever it's called in this game are some of the best moments in the series.

Now lets not say things we can't take back >.>

Kidding aside, I liked the swamp in this game and wished they would have explored open ended level design like that a little more. Kind of made me think it's what an open world-ish dark souls game would feel like if they went full zelda and employed a big open plain to serve as a connection point between areas instead of warping everywhere constantly.

Okay only
Nameless King
left ..... and holy shit is he kicking my ass!

He does an insane amount of damage but he's not too hard to avoid from what I've played (I was too tired to finish the fight last night though, I'll do it today :>), the attacks are pretty telegraphed. But yeah it's really punishing.

I thought the swamp area was great, and actually fun for a change. I more or less just hopped from land to land and it saw me through without too much trouble.

Something i learned today when i was fed up of using the Broadsword the Knight starts with (Early game weapon spoilers):
The Lothric Knight sword is essentially the Balder Side Sword from DS1 and you get it from the High Wall, i think only the 1H roll attack is different. I've switched to it now and it's boss.

One thing i don't get is that not only did they not bring back the wellwhatisit gesture, they DID bring back the lame as fuck equivalent from DS2 that nobody cares about.

And
Nameless King
Is down ... had no estus left for about half of his life and was one hit away from death the whole time .... so fucking intense!
He might be my favorite boss in all of the souls games .... he is a badass!

Officially beat every boss with the starting dual sword from the mercenary ... they are pretty nice :D

Totally hit a wall with
abyss watchers 2nd phase. I'm getting totally anhilated
Just walk backwards as soon as they spawn, and when they lunge at you two of them will crash into each other and start fighting with each other. Then go waylay the main one.

Look at this jump you can make early in the game to get access to some stuff early.

early game spoil obviously

this allows access to
the crow, an estus flask upgrade shard, and the serpent ring
right at the very start of the game without buying any $20,000 key. Only took a few tries honestly though maybe I got lucky.

SlipperyLazyGadwall.gif
You're a fucking GOD.

I just created a new char (caster) and did this on my third try. EZZZZZZZ.

I can do the 1st phase now. It's just the 2nd phase.
I'm only lvl 24 so a few hits and I'm dead and I can't seem to get near him without taking damage due to the fire :(
