Dark Souls III [Import OT] Kindle the fire, one last time

and to think I was worried that Dark Souls 3 might be the game where DS fatigue/burnout starts to kick in...a yearly release schedule is never a good thing but looks like From Software has reversed this trend...I wonder if there will be another Bloodborne or Souls game in 2017?

yeah i searched and did not find a way in

Yeah, the path must be really difficult to find. I assume that there are secret walls involved, but I have no idea where. I searched for secret walls in the close surroundings of the door and some other places based on pure grief potential such as the
black knight room
, but I didn't find anything. I am hoping that the disappearance of G
reirat
is explained in this hidden area as well. Please quote my post and give the answer if you find a way.

Holy christ the Poise Monsters in this game are ridiculous. Idiots are wearing robes and somehow can attack through EVERYTHING.

But I mean, that's why it happened lol

Maybe just Miyazaki hates it, but still. Somebody hates it!
...
The game takes many gameplay elements from 2, as well as story elements (the cycle thing was introduced in 2, and is major to 3's story.)

You are completely delusional if you think he even dislikes the game.

Just walk backwards as soon as they spawn, and when they lunge at you two of them will crash into each other and start fighting with each other. Then go waylay the main one.

Wait, was that boss supposed to have multiple copies during the 2nd phase? Maybe another xbone nerf, because when the boss powers up, it was only one boss for me. The aggro thing worked in the 1st phase, though.

I think this area is on the main path, but ok:
In the high wall area (first real area after firelink tutorial), you will fight the dancer boss in a church type building (go straight up the stairs from the Voldt boss bonfire, continue straight and enter the building). After this, examine the altar in the room to make a ladder drop down. At this point, the left path gets you to the royal garden and the right path gets you to the castle.

Thanks dude, found it and did all the things! Ready for NG+ methinks.

I really disagree with that. Like I said, it's like how TFA basically ignored the prequels as much as they could get away with doing.

And I mean, I wouldn't count being able to jump with LS to be a DS2 reference.

The game references a ton of stuff from the previous games. Hello, have you even seen the opening cinematic? Where do you think the Giants come from?

Disagree with what? There are more mechanics from DS2 than not. There was no reason to include ANYTHING from DS2 if the guy wanted to. You honestly just sound like you're talking out of the side of your neck.

I used the tried and true Souls technique for dealing with d

:
grabbing a bow, 100 arrows and going to town
haha

No there's only one guy in the second phase anyway.

I might be confused, because I see the boss in three phases. 1st as alone, then the other guys show up, then his flame sword stage.

To the other guy:

In the flame sword stage I dunno, I just rolled around him and smacked him in the back in between recovery frames.

Just run by them. There's a ledge under the bridgeway that you can fall down to in order to get into the castle. Same for the next step, but I had to homeward bone back to the bonfire because once they spew flame the floor is lava >.>

Can someone give a top five tips so far. Anything you wish you knew before you started etc

faith casting items have arts, and the chimes one in particular has a regen art that can fully heal you for a tiny amount of mana and is honestly the best thing about a faith character atm since the miracles all blow (basing this opinion on my experience with about half the game done -- I've yet to find that many miracles or anything very good and lightning spear is useless)

if you have trouble early on just grab a weapon with a decent moveset and infuse it with raw, you may not want to go with this long term but it gives a nice damage boost early on and the raw stones seem common

Something useful I've been doing has been equipping the cleric staff in a slot despite being dex focused. You can still use the weapon skill which is a pretty hefty heal over time despite being a small amount of mana though you need to keep the weapon out. I've been using that when out of a fight so I could use the estus flasks while I'm battling.

I'm glad we agree lol

Only if you are being willfully obtuse, and blithely ignorant.

Those mushroom turtles from DS2 are back, cementing the lore of the previous game.

. . .and no snark wont make you any less wrong.

All catalyst have an art. Not saying you didn't say they didn't, but the phrasing makes it seem exclusive.

How easy is it to cheese the game with leveling? I'm "replaying" SotFS for the first time since I did a normal DS2 run, and I'm just tearing through everything with NPC summons and a shitload of health/strength.

Note, I like to play this way. I like the atmosphere, loot and the sense of exploration. I don't really care for the challenge.

Definitely setting in. It's fun, but I feel the sense of awe isn't quite there anymore. Maybe bring back king's field

Might've been asked before, but...

How do you get rid of the leeches that the monsters in Cathedral of the Deep induce? I've tried rolling, attacking, everything. It takes a ton of my health and then just keeps going up, never stopping.

I really hope there's a way, because otherwise, that's a really shitty mechanic...

Well, finally found a boss that's kicking my ass, the one in イルシール. This area has been amazing. Gonna explore the other area I found for now

Can someone give a top five tips so far. Anything you wish you knew before you started etc

1.
There's a hostile NPC to the left of the Firelink entrance that drops a Katana.

2.
If you want a good straight sword get the Lothric Knight Sword from the red caped knights at the High Wall of Lothric, essentially the Balder Side Sword from DS1

3.
A lot of enemies initial attacks are extremely quick and not worth risking the parry, i find it much better to block the initial attack and try and parry the 2nd or 3rd

4.
Look into or find the Mound Maker Covenant before defeating the boss in the second main area, beating the boss will lock you out of the covenant if you've not discovered it by that time.

5.
You can increase both the potency and quantity of your estus, shards given to the blacksmith increase quantity and dead remains thrown into the Firelink fire increases potency.

The reason there isn't fatigue is because FromSoft is basically the only one making this type of game. There are a couple homages out there (Salt & Sanctuary and Lords of the Fallen) but it's not like most other genres where it's done to death. Dark Souls is a unique experience. Burnout ain't gonna happen, I could play 5 games a year like this without getting burned out

What does that mean "Cheese with leveling. . ."

Ok im back in the swamp.. only extinguished one flame so far :(

Look in the sky. You can see the towers.

If you don't want to search; immediately in front of you (near the Dark Wrait) is a ramp. That I believe should be everyones "first". To the right of the bonfire, past the frogs, you will come to another ramp. You can go the long way, but have to get by a Tree person. Then, from the first flame, find your way to the second bonfire, you'll come across the last one.

The man himself has said that going back to King's Field is not gonna be a thing because those games are the legacy of the founder of FromSoft. He wants to respect that.
Besides the gameplay there are a whole lot of discussions to be had about lore of course, not everyones' thing but there is no shortage of things to talk and think about for me.
I've lost my shit several times and i am excited what other things From will make in the future.

I did the swamp no problem. Made my way around it fine and did all the fires without dying. It's just the damn boss of the area I'm troubled with. I've called it a night. I nearly had him so that's progress I guess. Patience is key.

This part took me hours and dozens of deaths and had me more raging and legitimately angry at a video game than I've ever been

good luck

Man I making my way its hella frustrating got the second one now. Them big ass things holding the trees are evil

Kinda sucks that NG+ is just NG+ and not DS2's awesome NG+.

That's what kept me playing that game over and over again.
Something the first Dark Souls nor BB managed to do.
