Well... Minorities overwhelmingly supported Clinton vs Bush 1 and Bob Dole, Gore aganist Bush II, Kerry against Bush II, Obama against McKane, and Romney.
Minorities have been on the right side of history for the last 30 years. It's white folks that seem to love to try and fuck things up for the rest of us.

We've also seen minorities in favor of Trump, of all people.

Thanks to the internet and Dubya's disastrous presidency, the conservative share of the white vote has been shrinking over time (along with the increasing hispanic population.) The dems are getting more of it and needing less of it at the same time.
Which gives me hope for the future.
The Republican "Southern Strategy" is collapsing. In my idealistic world, this means they have to adopt more reasonable, truly "conservative" policies and less of the horrific pro-corp, pro-war, pro-fascist, pro-racist, lip-service "populism" BS they're accustomed to. That or face a gutting of the party.
I don't know how they recover from this, because that toxic mess of a core demographic is poison.

I'll be more convinced the Southern Strategy is failing when the GOP stops getting shitheads elected into other levels of government like governorships and congress.
But yes I do agree it's nice to see it crumbling for presidential elections at the very least.
I don't know, but the next 10-20 years of American politics will definitely be interesting.

That's a valid concern. I'm worried about Balkanization of the US. We're already there in some ways, with Southern and some Middle States going even further with their anti-Union strategies.
The strength of the nation is in union. States like California and New York can carry a lot of the load, but if more and more states see antagonism to the federal government (and to Blue states) as a viable strategy to attract some types of business, it seems like a great way to fracture and weaken the nation.
I'd say that's why, partially, some countries (Russia) are so quick to compliment the Republican platform.

they set up the room so that half the tables were for 21 and half were for 22, but the turnout for 22 was much bigger than anticipated and they had to do a lot of reorganizing on the fly. There was only enough seating for about 1/4th of the room and I heard the phrase "honor system" beong thrown around a lot.

There are many minority Bernie supporters. The narrative by Hillary supporters has been to characterize Bernie supporters as being uniformly young white males, hence the frequently repeated accusations of sexism and racism.
That said, Bernie getting killed by Hillary in the South because of the African American vote doesn't help his case to support claims that he has a large minority support base.
Actually you are not, at least on GAF lol. There are a couple of Latino Bernie supporters on GAF that have said as much. And a couple of Black supporters to boot.
Well to be fair, if you spent a lot of time in the politcal subreddits you would come away with this impression too (so I'm told). But,that's just a small percentage of Bernie supporters. I have never visited one of the subreddits and never will. Don't have time or patience for that crap.

Black Sanders supporters have to be able to look past the statements of some of his white and white passing supporters to the man himself. We've had people here do more than suggest that a lack of black intelligence is responsible for him not capturing the black vote (and only some of those posters were banned); I can only imagine how bad it is in the subreddits.
Yeah those comments pissed me off. I mean seriously? "too bad they are voting against their best interest". People vote for who they want end of story. Just like the many White people I know that are voting for, of all people, Trump.

While I find it detestable to use the example previously discussed, I don't think it should be forgotten that people, in general, are persuadable. So whether or not a person has easy access to information (cable/internet) and might be ignorant of a candidate means people should want to calmly, politely tell people about other candidates they like (but do so like a dang human being obviously, not with belittling and shit).
I've converted a few family Trump votes to Sanders votes just by talking. The people who I talked to, for whatever reason, believed what I said and believed I was telling the truth. That's why they continued to open up their minds and learned more about the government outside of the right's media narrative.
So we should definitely keep sharing our opinions, but it's just unfortunate that I should have to qualify that with "in a peaceful, reasonable, human way."

Absolutely! I know this from personal experience. Within the last 8 years or so I went from pretty hardcore conservative to where I am now, pretty damn liberal. I got that way from informing myself, in particular, reading perspectives from others, much different from my own. May have never changed if people were actively trying to make me feel like shit every day.
Conversation about these things is a good thing. People explaining why they think Trump as president is bad for not only minorities but the whole country, is a good thing. And I am certainly open to different perspectives on Bernie as well, and you know what? I actually agree with some things people are saying about how unrealistic he can be at times.
