I really liked it, the action was good, the characters were pretty good, especially the new Lex, I could use more of him. Wasn't a fan of all the quick cuts but eh, I could stomach it. Affleck is great as Batman and I really want to see him in more Batman movies.

The action in this film was mind blowingly good. I rarely remember seeing better action in a comic book film to be honest.

I think it was almost the shittiest part of the movie. Weta Digital's CGI looks so plastic. Horrible. The pacing was all over, it was edited badly. It was shit, especially the Doomsday fight. Werehouse fight was cool as it had less CGI.

Honestly I wasn't impressed much by the CGI, particularly Doomsday's, the special effects were just fine for me. Though I really admired the action overall. It feels weird to love a film very much that most critics and even GAFfers despise. Even the ones that liked it on this thread didn't really love it except for a handful. I don't think I've ever loved a movie so universally panned before haha.

Eh, everyone's an individual with their own tastes and likes. There are people on GAF who enjoyed Fant4stic too, and we have a Speed Racer 2009 defense force who are adamant about how incredible it is. Different strokes for different folks.

I however can't stand the direction DC has gone with MoS and BvS, and I don't think I'll be seeing Justice League in the theaters unless they make some major changes. I just have no desire to see any more of their universe like this on the big screen, I'd rather watch anything else.

This is where I'm at. I have no interest in these movies anymore and I love these characters.

Nolan's Batman may have killed when the situation absolutely called for it, but he still followed a no-kill code as much as possible. It's a pretty pivotal element of TDK.

That code seemingly doesn't exist for Keaton's or Affleck's Batman. It would be one thing if Batman said "I don't know kill" but was forced to for some reason, but it's another when he kills and doesn't seem to have any qualms about it.

Nolan Batman refused to let the Joker die, but let Ra's die cos you know, reasons. I called bullshit on that first time I saw it.

If Bats had let Joker die, it would have been all by his hand. Ra's put himself in the situation which allowed him to die.

Batman tosses Joker off the ledge; if he had died, it would be directly because of Batman. Batman didn't put Ra's on the train... though I guess he did fuck up the controls... and had Gordon blow the supports so the train would crash...

Saw it this morning. Loved it. Roommate came with and loved it too. I'd probably give it an 9/10. Maybe an 8 if I wanted to be nitpicky.

Guys, I read all the spoilers ahead of time and have been reading the reactions that everyone has been posting in preparation of watching this today. I just got home from it.

It was even worse than you guys said it was.

I said it was the worst movie I ever seen. I don't really know what what me also loving marvel has to do with that.
So A for effort?

I'm a little jealous to be honest. I wish I lived in a world where Batman v Superman was the worst movie I've ever seen. I can't imagine how much happier as a person I would be if I had managed to skip some of the most awful shit I've seen. Did you ever see ABC's of Death 1 or 2? I wish I hadn't.

Is it advisable to watch Man Of Steel before seeing this (I'm still yet to see it)? Or is there no mention of anything from Man Of Steel in this film?

The themes of the movie are directly tied to MoS. I don't know if it will improve your experience but I would recommend you watch it for context.

ben affleck did a good job as the new batman because he is the new role and defines it just like cavil. They might be in trouble if they attempted any other types of versions given the history

You guys who didn't like the movie (and probably hated everything leading up to it) really have reached complete absurdity. I guess my question is how many movies have you actually seen, 5 or 6?

What's the problem? I've seen tons bad movies but their either inoffensive or something I can laugh at. This movie is neither.

A better written ending could have had Batman offer salvation and be rejected out of spite, rather than allow another's death by omission of action.

There really isn't a problem but calling BvS the worst movie you've ever seen reeks of a statement a preteen would say out of anger. I get you didn't like it but I can't take anyone seriously that claims it's the worst film in the history of cinema.

Good thing I didn't say that. Just the ones I've seen.

Just came back from the cinema with some friends, we didn't see why it got such bad reviews, we thought it was on par with pretty much every other super hero move save the very very few best ones. It also really wasn't as bad as some super hero films have been either, and it certainly wasn't the work of the devil that some seem to be shouting it is.

No one has seen every single film. My point still stands that if it's the worst movie you've ever seen then you either haven't seen many films or you're just getting caught up in the BvS hate train.

If you haven't seen a worse movie than this, I don't think you're qualified to make any statement on its quality at all.

I mean that's idiotic since it's my personally opinion but ok.

It's definitely one of the worst super hero movies I've seen. Granted, I haven't seen the recent FF and ASM movies but other then that, I've watched most of them.

Most superhero movies that I dislike err on the side of either being just bad or boring. This is both boring and offensively bad. And it kills one of my favorite heroes characterizations all in one.

It doesn't get that Marvel grading curve though.

Has anyone, including Snyder, actually read Dark Knight Returns?

I keep seeing that panel being conveniently posted, but what about this?

He adapted this scene almost word for word, and actually toned it down a little by having
Batman shoot the Criminal's gas-tank rather than having him outright shoot the criminal with a gun like he did in the comic.

So yeah. People need to stop acting like Synder is this menace who ruined Batman's character.

Home. Ate dinner. Time to share.

You ever meet someone who you know has tons of awesome stories to tell, but is really bad at telling them? Maybe you have a friend like that. Maybe you are the friend like that. I know I am.

Zack Snyder is that friend too.

A friend of mine put it well on facebook: "It's a movie I liked that could have been a movie I loved." The pieces are all there, and do their jobs well enough. The plot, story, and character beats are there. The actors are good to great in their roles.

However, the editing and pacing just fail to bring it together into a cohesive whole. The first half is so dense with so many things happening, and the movie does not transition well between them or give the audience much time to recover and take it all it. The results in the plot feeling muddled or hard to follow because there just isn't enough time to take it all in or understand characters' reactions/motivations.

This also means some things stick out more than they should. Namely, the cameos. They weren't nearly as overbearing as I was expecting, and even made some sense within the plot. The problem they took up time in a movie that really didn't have it to waste.

In the end, I see why opinions are so divided. It's a mess of a film. But, it's kind of a fun mess. I can't say I didn't enjoy myself, or that the people I went with didn't enjoy themselves. Can't say I'm not still looking forward to DC's films, either. What I can say is that I hope Justice League can get the smoothing over BvS really needed.

I say it's a banana/cucumber. (Scoring things is dumb)

Batman outright killing criminals is just the evolution of Nolans Batman. He's just 20 years bitter now.

Also keeping in mind that the old Batman movies he killed as well

Movie Batman kills people. Comic Batman doesn't.

I thought early comic Batman did kill people. He used to justify it by saying, "I don't like to kill but he was the most vile of criminals, he deserved it etc.."

He shoots, but there's nothing in the book that suggests he kills.

A huge chunk of the book deals with his unwillingness to kill. He uses rubber bullets in the Batmobile. He breaks the Joker's neck, but can't bring himself to kill him. He's charged by the police for every crime they can attach to him, including child endangerment, but murder or manslaughter isn't one of those crimes.

Frank Miller's Batman doesn't kill. He injures. He cripples. But he doesn't kill.

Bats saving the little kid of Wrigley group, has been my DP for the last three years or so!!

Awesome movie IMO, went in with low expectations. I think it's a solid ~70-85% flick, audience clapped at the end.

Superman could've been characterized better. This movie was def all about Bats.

Loved all the action sequences.

I'm not super familiar with the comic, but I feel like that scene specifically, might have been left a little ambiguous on purpose. I mean there is some sort of a splatter on the wall behind the criminal, perhaps blood? Maybe, maybe not. It could be the one instance where it was absolutely necessary for him to kill a criminal to save someone.

Either way in that comic panel he does fire a gun, and so it kind of contradicts all those saying that Batman never uses guns and faulting Snyder's Batman for
firing a gun (which by the way he never actually kills anyone directly by shooting them with a gun in the movie, not counting the Knightmare dream sequence.) Nearly all of the kills in the movie are more "by proxy" and not directly murder.

I just got back from seeing the movie a second time myself, and
in the warehouse scene, after paying close attention I realized that he doesn't even kill anyone aside from shooting the gas tank and letting the flamethrower do the rest of the work. I guess you could be nitpicky about the grenade bit, but really that was on the criminal for trying to grab it in time and failing. There is a bit where he grabs hold of a criminal with a gun and fires, but it misses all the other guys and doesn't actually kill anyone.

If people actually payed attention instead of getting so wrapped up in this "bastardization" of Batman's character- they'd realize he "kills" just as much as Nolan's or Burton's Batman, and in a lot of the same ways too.

This video is a good example of that and doesn't even include every scene where Batman's actions have resulted in the death of someone. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psVIG7YvdjM

That's Awesome!

Batman gets
stabbed and shot in the head
. I kind of respect that they have Bats acknowledging the fucked up scenarios he jumps into. He doesn't have to WANT to be fatal, but he escalates proportionally to the danger.

Ignoring metahumans, humans have way more crazy and deadly weapons than in the time Batman was created.

Ok just saw it and it wasn't that bad of a movie but I can understand how some fans would be upset. At least it did try to play it safe.

Loved it. The crowd enjoyed it as well. I overheard multiple group conversations taking place right after exiting and the most common topic was wondering wtf the critics were talking about. Falls in line with the word of mouth going around before as well. The general audience seems to like it, the movie will have legs.

I saw it and really enjoyed it. I don't get all the hate. It was not the greatest thing I saw, but I was entertained. It was more memorable and had more emotional impact than Age of Ultron.

I feel the same way. Age of Ultron was boring in comparison. Quicksilver dying was like whatever, he was cooler on X-men anyway.
The only things that seemed out of place in BvS were
the dream sequence, the Flash cameo, and the metahuman clips, specially Cyborg's because it was almost a mini origin story.
