SFV: Alex Release Trailer

That looked scarily similar to Hawke's trailer, lol
-_-

Broly you are trolling but this is still low even for you. I know you are harsh on Capcom and rightfully so. But you are in the OT threads and have seen Garret editing files from the PC version since release. It even says in the description to his video this is a trailer made in the style of SFV reveals. He is using the frame work of Capcom's previous trailers and cutting his own trailers. It's great work, it all benefits the community, can we please have an ounce of reasonable discussion for once.

What a silly argument , that was how people where unlocking colors/extra in fightings games before dlc existed.

You gave it shit because you want to

But did you realize that we didn't really unlock any colors via survival mode in Street Fighter franchise? I really like SF4's method to unlock colors for characters by using them in the battles which is pretty reasonable and fair to go with.

Playing the game to unlock things within has been in fighting games since decades.i wasn't talking about street fighter in general.
Don't like the current méthod ? the alternative is to pay ... but let's not act as if the unlock is that much of a challenge for any player ?

It's much easier than , play arcade mode in expert , to unlock a fight againt gouken , then beat the guy to unlock the character.

Anyway , my main point is : Playing to unlock stuff has been in fighting games since ages and should ALWAYS be there in some shape or form and SFV did well on that aspect.

May I ask why you defend your crack dealers so religiously? I mean there isn't even anything to defend here.

Just give it up man, people are never going to be reasonable when it comes to Capcom/SFV anymore. I'm just gonna stick to the OT.
Lol I guess. I mean I haven't been bashful about liking the game and definitely want as many people to try it. But that's a weird post to quote me on, I'm addressing something specific about the trailer. but you're right, this might be wasted effort, but I have to say something when I see FUD lol!

I mean folks are really posting like Capcom copied Garret's work or something?! My man is using the game itself and its files to mod! Do we not know what modding means? Modification of the original source folks.

I means just Wow...

And no disrespect to my good buddy Garret, I know how much effort you put in man, keep it up!

But still Wow...

Your words man, you are the one that said that SF5 was like crack to you and you OVERLY defend every little thing about the game whenever even a hint of criticism comes along.

The gameplay is freaking amazing, but they majorly fucked up just about everything else with this game majorly. At this point they need to get more people interested and maintain their current playerbase but trolling and being slow with fixes specially for online doesn't do the game any favors.

People are gonna be critical or poke fun at it from this point on because yes they fucked up really badly. Look how long PS3 was made fun of for messing up it's launch, and just about everything in general.

Me personally, I'm glad I can finally play one of my mains from 3s again finally.

and this is exactly what I mean by being overly defensive about the game.

This whole launch period just seems like this was super rushed.

  • Decrepit Prologue Story Mode
  • No Arcade Mode
  • No Versus CPU in 2/3
  • Still no DLC store
  • Finally fixed Chun P2 boob physics, but the fix was pretty halfassed
  • 3 betas and matchmaking still takes too long. Pokken, in comparison takes seconds.
  • Still no daily challenges
  • Horrible Survival Mode as the only way to earn colors without paying
I love the game, which I why I give it shit. Capcom did a massive disservice to it.

I think instead of rushing i would say Capcom put them aside for later, those feautures didn't seem to be on their mind when they were busy launching the minimum for a competetive fighter.

Hmm...first couple comments are adding some fuel to the fire of "people are going to complain about everything no matter what" argument.

How is this trailer too late when Alex officially came out today? Doesn't make any sense to me.

Shh. Let people whine like usual.

Only when discussing Street Fighter 5.

Badass trailer. Didn't expect to get Alex, but I'm gonna give him a shot later today.

*Edit*

Amazing, many are bitching that it's not using his in game music when just a day or two ago there were oodles of people bitching that the music was shit.

Granted, these are obviously different groups, it just highlights how Capcom can do no right by this board as a whole.

I don't remember any fighter that was as obnoxious as SFV when it comes to unlocking COLORS.

And survival mode in this game is STRAIGHT TRASH.

And if you get a new costume, you have to unlock COLORS for it all over again.

It's poorly designed garbage.

or you buy one of the 5 new colors launching today with FM, 5 colors per character that is. We've even datamined the colors and they look pretty damn solid.

A nice little trailer, I don't understand why it couldn't have been shown at the NorCal tourney, but hey it's here. Alex is out, and I can't wait to see what people can do with him.

No, Garrett's is not better. Yes, it was a great replication of the template laid out in the other trailers, it is not better (opinion).

Also, people saying they are late, maybe this is the plan for the DLC character, releasing the trailer when they are released for purchase/use. Maybe that was the plan all along. Maybe we all expected something they never planned on doing in releasing a pre-release trailer (I think they should as well as many of you, but still). Just maybe.

WTF dd they do to his hair, and those pants and boots are horrible... Crappy artists at capcom IMO. This new look is horrible.

There's the possibility that Jett likes one of the colors 3-10 for multiple characters and doesn't want to have to play survival on normal and hard for five different characters all while a disconnect will ruin his progress.

I understand that unlocking things have been things for fighting games and I'm fine with that. I always enjoys to unlock almost everything, especially Street Fighter and Smash Bros franchises. Heck, I'm defender of unlocking features in fighting games, at long, the method to unlock features aren't terrible.

your point is pointless because we can't even purchase original colors right now if we would like to. It's not much challenges but it's too tedious and time-consuming. I meant we have to do 50 rounds per character to unlock last 4 colors along with the facts, we have 17 characters today, and we have to do it all over again for alternative costumes.

What made it even worse, disconnecting from servers would boot you out of survival mode, and doing it offline wouldn't earn you the fight money that you deserved to get.

I'm surprised that someone here actually defend a terrible design for unlocking feature here. In fact, I found it more enjoyable to unlock Gouken than doing survival challenges for colors. So I don't really think Capcom did good job with unlockable feature this time.

I see your point, but i don't play a lot of multi-player games, I love gravity rush just as much,I post a few times about how awesome it is, then that's it...SFV is something I'm constantly playing, so it's a little easier to have active discussions about it. I'm sure there are Destiny defenders all over GAF lol,I like it, I'm going to point out inaccuracies. If VF6 comes out and I see a bunch of FUD, I'll do the same thing. I dunno, warranted or not, that bothers me when I see shit posting for no good reason. You handle it a different way, I'll handle it mines. A bad launch doesn't mean it's acceptable to shit post a product, even if it's constantly improving. Maybe trivial, but it's something I enjoy doing.

Call me white knight Ken baby! Lol

Mind you I do this at work when I'm not busy, it occupies my time, and I really do enjoy the game.

definitely agree with this. I disconnected on hard survival at stage 42!!! I was like "Motha F@$%*" Capcom...lol

Should definitely add more ways to earn the colors. Dunno why they didn't put it so you get them with the amount of matches you play or something.

This, I can do normal, but no way am I doing hard mode for the remaining colors. Server disconnects and input reading A.I. don't add up to fun.

@ QisTopTierno wonder we don't see eye to eye. You play ibuki? -_-

You an your kunai tricks can go jump off a bridge! Stupid mixup characters, you probably main Ibuki and alt el fute or something. Pshhh...u ain't bout that footsie life.

I think it is official that Capcom hates ken...he is always getting the beat down in these videos...and his face and that new outfit...Capcom please.

I think that after years of playing SF4, I only had a few colors on the default outfit for the character I played and almost none for the characters I didn't play since you had to use them and all unlocks were tied to P1 side so that local vs. didn't unlock anything.

I think there should definitely be other ways to unlock colors in SF5, but I don't think SF4 was better.

For defaults, anyway. You definitely should get all colors when you pay real money for an outfit.

I think anything is better than Survival including paying FM.

But yeah, you should be able to buy 3-10 for FM. Better yet, 3-10 should be tied to Character Level where every 5 levels gives you a new color for any costume.

All this salt over a trailer. We talking about a trailer...

we got a brand new character... and we talkin bout a trailer?

....we talkin about a trailer....

Definitely think character level should be key. It's so easy to get the first few character levels that it would encourage people to play others just for the unlocks and fight money.

In SSF4 and beyond you unlocked colors and taunts by playing that character online.

I dont play ibuki.

I play Oro, Q, Alex, Tweleve in SF3

and Rose, Seth, Poison in SF4

Hey, at least they remembered to make and release a trailer.

It's unfortunate the information leaked early, but the plan has always been to launch the trailer alongside the actual content release. This is a launch trailer after all.

The trailer probably doesn't mean a whole lot for most gaffers here and core fighting fans who have been keeping track with the latest SFV news. But for those who don't follow news regularly will see the trailer and expect the content is now available.

Think of it as a launch day trailer/advertisement for any given game where publishers will want to maximize buzz and make the announcement actionable ("NOW AVAILABLE!! GO BUY NOW11!!!!!11"). That's your typical go-to-market strategy in a nutshell. ;-)

Anyhoo, ALEX is out now so please enjoy! (^^)

Now that the precedent has been set for post-launch characters it shouldn't be an issue in the future, people just had expectations based on character reveals before at events
