Where's my new Gran Turismo, or God of War, or Uncharted, The Last Guardian, Quantic Dream game etc.
Still it's not like they did not try before with the add ons and if the system fail they just cut it short and jump right into other gen .
And this has been happening with handhelds for ever .
900p is current Gen gaming my friendlol
Sad but true. Ps4k is an attempt to fix that methinks.
I absolutely disagree with this. I bought the console at launch, and a second just under a year later. Not only am I not bored, I feel Sony hasn't released enough of their own content for the console yet, and instead been quite slow with releases. Where's my new Gran Turismo, or God of War, or Uncharted, The Last Guardian, Quantic Dream game etc. Sony's output with the PS4 has been slower this generation, so there's even less reason to release new upgraded hardware. I honestly don't feel I've gotten enough value out of my consoles yet, and instead feel like I'm still waiting for some of the more important releases.
To be honest I didn't understand the statement myself. Ps4 will always be the lead platform no matter what. The install base is to huge in such little time.
I think the wording is a bit wrong. No way in hell devs will target Ps4k as a lead. Instead they will target pc as lead then down port.
Not really all that tough IMO. Look at the reactions on this thread for an example. A lot of people who bought their product are saying they're not buying the new one or feeling a little shafted. Even if a few give in and do buy it, you lost a good part of your audience and it's not exactly likely you're getting enough new people to join in and offset that. Besides, something like this really helped fucking Sega over so there's even a history.
I don't get it as a business decision. As someone who really likes videogames, I get it even less. That is however my opinion and I respect anyone who thinks otherwise and I'm glad they get to be hyped for something like this, just to be clear. I do really think it's a very bad idea.
Wow, shit O_O
So why isn't this a PS5 exactly?
This CANNOT be real, can it?
nintendo's been doing it with handhelds successfully. i think it's okay that they do this and that sony does it with dedicated hardware too. i just think it isn't right that customers should expect that sony was going to do this when it's something they haven't done before.
going forward now? sure, you should be expecting something like a ps5, ps5.5, ps6, ps6.5, etc.
I certainly agree. They have been utterly rubbish this gen. Last gen they started out slow and picked it up around 2009. We're in 2016 now, let's hope history will repeat itself. At least, now I know to wait a minimum of 3 years before buying a ps5.Sony's first party output has been a mess so far, utterly useless. The PS4 exclusives reminds me of what the Vita had, almost everything was pure trash. Unlike the Vita though, the PS4 is saved by amazing third party games.
Games being slowly less and less optimised for PS4 and running well only on PS4K is a legitimate concern. Also, buying fixed specs hardware which the manufacturer and game developers would keep on optimising for in the span of 5+ years is something the average console gamer was actually buying a console for. Having new and faster hardware released every few years would bring a much different model and something possibly harmful to the console idea in and of itself.
You have a source or are you an insider? My gut feeling is saying that NX will have much more Japanese suppport than Western.Lmfao!!!
I'll leave this here, two major pubs are not supporting nx in NA. In fact one major pub/dev having no kits at all.
Hope it bombs and nobody ever tries this again.
Anyone not believing the standard PS4 will end up with gimped or unoptimised versions of games is kidding themselves, there is a good history of weaker hardware getting shafted.
Not why I buy consoles.
You'll still get those games though.
There's just a good probability they will run and look like fud on the old machine seeing as devs can't focus on that one alone.
Simple math and basic business theories can tell you it can't be real. If Sony fired Andrew House and hired a monkey then yes, it could be real.
To make matters worse, I expect to see devs trying to brute force everything. Innovative end of gen titles will be a thing of the past. This new model will push the focus on graphics over good air and good gameplay. Considering that the improvements gameplay this gen has been terrible so far, this is not a good thing. This is exactly the point many are missing. Unless the ps4k is a flop, the original ps4 will get more and more cross-gen games with a consistent drop in quality and performance as the gen goes on.
I'm nearly at the point of bailing on any PS4K related threads because of those kinds of posts.
I was a day 1 purchaser. I've had 00s if not 000s of hours entertainment out of my PS4, and Sony choosing to release an iterative version doesn't change that, nor does it change the fact many more good games will be released for the platform over he next 2-3 years, even with PS4K in the picture.
Same goes for PSVR.
I have clear choices in this -
Continue to play games on the platform devs & Sony will still be supporting strongly, and that will continue to give me great gaming experiences on TV and VR, and not be bothered about PS4K.
Buy a PS4K for those experiences, plus some extra shiny, and better VR performance.
Throw a tantrum like my 5 year old daughter & declare that all of the above is completely nullified by the new console & make some crazy declaration about being fucked over by Sony.
What history are you talking about, cause it doesn't exist.
Why only pay £400 every 5-8 years when you can pay it every 2 years instead?
And people call Nintendo anti-consumer...
more like 4thepayers.#4theplayers seems so long ago!
i've been predicting this for a while now actually. at least a year or so that the new form of dedicated hardware will be incremental upgrades. i had expected it to start in the 9th gen though, and not in this one.
the problem is there wasn't any notice that this was going to happen with ps4 and supposedly xbox one. so people are upset that it's happening after dropping several hundred dollars on the ps4 when they thought they were getting the best 8th gen dedicated hardware.
there's also this weird overlap with ps vr in what looks like to me two competing ideologies. one is pushing sony's tv/living room division while the other is far more rooted in games and applications. however, it seems they're reaching for the same consumers - enthusiasts with lots of money to spend. i don't think there's a big enough time gap between the two that it helps them out though. i'd have separated them by a year, and probably put ps4k out this holiday and pushed ps vr to november 2017.
You should know better, ninjablade. It is from that company that you love to hate, Nintendo.
When this goes mainstream, I do expect a lot of flak from a lot more consumers who have very recently purchased a machine, maybe in America/EU the concept of trading in or selling off consoles is rather easy and simple but other markets this is not the case at all.
Most consumers across a lot of regions across the globe are already playing more than $499 for a PS4, case point India which pays $600 for the base model, therefore it is a significant investment for them. No way is someone buying another machine so quickly.
I don't see why Sony feels the need to attempt this stupid idea. It's not always about the power. We're happy with what the PS4.0 can do.
You have a source or are you an insider? My gut feeling is saying that NX will have much more Japanese suppport than Western.
Edit: I just saw one of your posts and if you're right than Nintendo still did not learn![]()
The fact that there will be Sony 1st party efforts mainly for PS4K (i.e. lame ports for OG PS4) and the OP outright says games will just run worse on the old PS4 is pushing me to go for the PS4K.
It'll still be the same quality we would get without PS4K but obviously a 2x more powerful machine will make it look fud in comparison.
So I have to sell my PS4 already?
I don't see why Sony feels the need to attempt this stupid idea. It's not always about the power. We're happy with what the PS4.0 can do.
I don't think we have anything comparable except for ps2 vs,Xbox, Nintendo hardware is a generation behind.
It's basically because the PS4 is not powerful enough to properly handle VR games, not at the kind of graphical fidelity many people have come to expect or are now accustom to anyway, not at the increased frame rates required of VR anyway.
So if Sony announce PS4K at E3, how would the crowd react?
What history are you talking about, cause it doesn't exist.
Isn't that a huge red flag for people looking to buy PSVR at release? Even people willing to upgrade would be better served by waiting for the new PS4.It's basically because the PS4 is not powerful enough to properly handle VR games, not at the kind of graphical fidelity many people have come to expect or are now accustom to anyway, not at the increased frame rates required of VR anyway.
Have you heard anything new?No, it's still great.
