How is Guardians of the Galaxy an easier movie to pull off than something with Cyclop's dad and I do believe a cat woman?
Shi'ar and Starjammers are easy for live action but they ain't doing it ever. I wasn't really clear in what I meant, which is that there's a shitload of comic book stuff that starts to push the boundaries of what can be done in live action without coming off as weird/dumb.

Edit: Well, weirder/dumber than usual.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I don't want change.

I like the brutal Batman. I like the flawed Superman. I like the serious tone. I like the raw fight scenes. I like the look of Snyder's films.

I'm going to be sad when WB throws all that out the window.

I'm right there with you. I want this movie to do good. It had good opening weekend so a drop in the low to high 60% range is what I expect.

Live and in technicolor

Red Hulk and Anti-Venom hitting around the same time took me back to the '90s.

Like accurate sized Puck in an Alpha Flight movie?

I am calling my shot, not only will Civil War do more than Ultron, but it will be the biggest film of the year

Just like you called this shot?

I think Deadpool will make money, but not enough to brag about or lineup a sequel

Granted, you said it would make money, so you were right on that. But still...

Honestly, I was on your side for that. I thought it would make a fair amount of money, but not the monster that it became.

Im whatever about the movie but I like what it tried to do. So I honestly hope WB doesn't mess around too much with justice league 1. I'm curious how that plays out. Going by BvS it's definitely not gonna be the avengers rip I thought it would be

Hopefully snyder chills with the unnecessary ass scenes and actually cuts it properly this time

I think WB should go to Peter Jackson for part 2. I think that would be fun

I let my dislike for Deadpool cause me to underestimate it, I admit it.

But at least you admit it. That is a big step above many others.

Now what will you do if Captain Marvel is a monster hit?

Nobody in the world predicted Deadpool, not too fair to bash Slayen for that

All in good fun. I don't think anyone really thought it would bomb with that low budget, but I don't think anyone expected it to explode like it did.

I still need to see it. At this point I am just waiting for the blu ray.

This is exactly the type of answer I expected out of you lol...so she stinks?
latest

Well her race has pheromone powers. as a matter of fact a crazy Shi'ar warlord literally juiced a bunch of them and shot the stuff into himself so he can inspire mindless devotion in his warriors.

I'm not saying they aren't. I just can't look at a person championing comics as a holy grail while bashing anime or manga with straight face. They're both absurd.
I'd even argue that comics are more absurd because they try to apply real world logic in real life settings or at least mimic real life settings in the case of DC.

Stuff like One Piece is less absurd because the world the series is based on has different rules from ours. So you take it all at face value.

And I'm big comic book fan.

I can't wait for a DC movie that explains it's lore and mechanics in the fashion of JRPG tutorial like Naruto.

Interrupting the comics thread for a box office update.

A few hours later and they've already dropped the floor down:

Rth over at the box office forums is saying $18-19m for BvS today.

Rth's estimate is was from 6+ hours ago. I wonder if he will update again tonight.

Iron Man 3 is the ceiling for civil war.

That had special Chinese ingredients as well as the iron man name to it.

Civil War is going to demolish Iron Man 3 in China

I don't think there's any China exclusive scenes in Civil War though.

That doesn't matter.

Ant-Man grossed 88% of what Iron Man 3 did. Age of Ultron almost doubled Iron Man 3, despite the fact that Iron Man 3 was up like 50% over the first Avengers.

That brand is super strong in China.

Meanwhile, BvS probably won't beat Ant-Man in China.

Thats crazy, mcu is huge in China huh. Found both movies on par in mediocrity tbh (for different reasons)

Hopefully batman brand comes out of this untarnished worldwide tho. The batman stuff in the movie was one of the few legit positives about the film and an affleck solo can potentially be best of the decade if the script is right. They really did good with the casting of Bruce and Alfred. The rapport is already working so well.

Civil War will join the two billion club I think. It won't break the domestic record, but the Marvel movies are way bigger overseas then Star Wars. Its an Avengers movie with Spiderman that looks to have the potential to be the best film ever made my Marvel. If its that good be prepared for an insane gross.

Ouch at that B v S number. I'll do my part and see it again this weekend. I really like it, like a lot.

I think people need to cool their jets on CW. I think it's ceiling is AoU numbers. It would have to be a huge critical hit to get to that number. I can't imagine there were THAT many SpiderMan fans not already watching the Marvel stuff.

Civil War out-grossing Star Wars? Lol

It's very possible that the #1 film domestically for 2016 makes barely over half what Force Awakens did.

Hell, Rogue One could end up with a take north of 460mil domestic (which would put it at #3 in the series, over every other mainline film BUT Phantom Menace & TFA) and it would still be less than half what Force Awakens made.
