Once he gets promoted to the main roster and Creative fucks him over by having him do something lame repeatedly, we'll turn on him too.

Of course this reflects badly on Creative... not the talent. Ditto for anyone else with talent that WrassleGAF has turned on over the years. That said, if we're turning on Bálor before Vince has an opportunity to ruin him, there's something deeper there that should be scrutinized.

I mean...his character is 1. stale, and 2. seemingly directionless other than being the NXT champion.

Just catching up with this PPV. Holy shit, that Zyan v. Nakamura match. Matches like this are why I will never quit watching wrestling. Amazing.

When do you guys expect Nakamura to head over to the main roster? Almost wish it was the end of the year because I could just image the pop he would get at the Rumble once those violins hit.

Watching Takeover right now. Oh my god that Nakamura entrance is so much better than the potato-cam we saw last night. I can't wait to see that theme up on youtube. It suits him so well.

Nakamura has a bad ass entrance.

Bayley v. Asuka was my favorite match of the night. Zayn and Nakamura was awesome as well.

Very good show. Opener was awesome, but I'm a Jordan & Gable mark. I don't know why Nakamura vs. Zayn wasn't the main event. It was Zayns last NXT match and the debut of one of the biggest stars in Japan. If there was a title change in the ME I would've understood, but not like this. Could be the fact that I still don't see anything special in Balor.

I still have hope for a legit Bullet Club style stable for Balor but his whole persona/character is confusing.

One minute he's building lego and doing Dirty Dancing with Bayley and the next he's wielding a chainsaw.

It needs consistency.

Well Rollins was a face NXT champion when he debuted on the main roster in a heel stable, so something like this has been done before..

balor sorely needs to go heel. he's a real dope wrestler (but there's so many of these in nxt right now) but such a boring personality right now.

balor and the bullet club RAW debut.....fuuuck they would explode it. it's needed now. was hoping samoa joe would win to facilitate this smh.

incredible takeover. that tag team match puts WWE's division to shame. fantastic cheat teamwork from the revival and american alpha is the most fun to watch (wrestle) tag team in ages.

bayley vs. asuka was great. lmao at them repeating the same ending as the holly holm/meisha tate fight. straight down to the chokeout and belt switch. so...is bayley going up? it's been 3/4 horsewomen for a while now. and it's suspect timing with then finally naming it the women's championship starting monday as well...

but god damn...shinsuke nakamura. what a match to retire from NXT for sami zayn. shinsuke's new entrance theme was better than I expected, and man his walkout was so good. excellent match. favorite of the night easy.

That was the first Swagsuke match I've ever watched.

That intro.
That crowd pop during his signature pose.
The Match of the YEAR.

I can't even............. the hype was real?!?!?

zayn vs nakamura was the greatest match of all time

fight forever

That "Fight forever," chant...

It really is emblematic of just how great that match was. I've never heard a crowd so into a match that they beg for the match to go on forever in chant form. That was something special.

Hype was off the charts for Takeover. Absolutely destroyed my expectations. Top to bottom I loved every match. Even Corbin was fantastic, come a long way. Holy shit what a great way to spend 2 hours.

It's a shame what happened in the Balor/Joe match because it was shaping up to be excellent. It's a credit to the skill of both workers that they still managed to have a very good match despite the ref stoppages.

Nakamura/Zayn is the best match in a wwe ring I've seen in years. I really want that Balor/Nakamura feud. Forget the paint stuff and just have them go out there and kick the shit out of each other. Also, it would be a crying shame if Joe is to leave NXT just as Nakamura arrives.

Now you know what you've been missing.
Namely the best wrestler in the world today.

If NXT has a Takeover in Tokyo the main event must be Balor v Nakamura for the title.

Then have KENTA v Ibushi in the undercard.

Too smarky?

Takeover was so good. Really awesome 2 hours of wrestling.

I felt the tag opener was a little sloppy at times but American Alpha are so fun to watch in the ring and The Revival played the heel role to perfection. Enjoyed it from start to finish even if the guys did seem a little overwhelmed at times.

Corbin vs Aries was probably the weakest match but they are probably just building the feud up. I'm hoping it will get better since Aries is capable of much more and Corbin has really improved in recent months.

Sami vs Nakamura was just perfect. From start to finish they put on an amazing match. You have two of the best wrestlers in the world going at it and even with practically no build they delivered big time. Best match of the night and probably of this whole weekend.

Baley vs Asuka was good but not great. I wanted Asuka to just kill Bayley but Bayley dominated a little too much of the match. I'm very happy with Asuka as champion since she is one of the best wrestlers in the roster (and man, THAT ENTRANCE) but I just wanted to see a little more dominance and less trading submission moves.

Balor vs Joe was also a great match. Joe looked like a monster. Phenomenal work from Joe and the only knock I have against the match is that he just didn't win it. He would be great as NXT champion and totally deserves it. He has carved his spot on the show very quickly and it's super entertaining to watch. Regarding Balor, I love his entrances and the Demon but I can agree that his character isn't great (and he can't cut a good promo) and his in ring work is solid but it doesn't stand out.

I saw his intro posted a little further up on this page and... what the hell?

He has all sorts of weird mannerisms, walks like a drunk person, does a crazy Matrix style pose in the middle of the ring... and somehow makes it all work and makes me want to watch more? Who is this man??

Any matches of his on youtube or dailymotion that I should see to bring me up to speed on why you are calling this guy the best in the world?

Please edumacate me oh gods of wrasslegaf.

Sami really fucked up one of his moves on naka and landed him on his neck looked very nasty. Glad he isnt hurt but dam

Cross-posting from WrassleGAF

My brothers, I've seen the light. NXT TakeOver Dallas is the first NXT show I've ever seen in my life and I can't believe how much I enjoyed this. I basically didn't know 90% of the wrestlers and yet I was on the edge of my seat the whole time (well almost).

-American Alpha vs The Revival
THIS IS HOW YOU DO TAG TEAM MATCHES WWE. So many little moments, diversions, tag moves that made the match a ton of fun. It genuinely felt like a 2 vs 2 match all the time and not just separate 1 vs 1 matches. Great opener.

-Austin Aries vs. Baron Corbin
Honestly? Didn't really care for it. Only match where I was mostly checking my phone.

-Bayley vs Asuka
The minute I saw Asuka I became a fan. She's the total package : damn good entrance, sexy as hell, charisma, she looks cool af and literally murdered Bayley. I LOVE ASUKA. Hope she'll be champion for a long time.

-Nakamura vs Zayn
Well, that was really different. Nakamura is unique in the ring and with Zayn they definitely managed to do a match you don't see in WWE. It was exhausting to watch in a good way, you could feel the pain. Both men looked strong, losing didn't make Zayn seem weak at all. Can't wait to see what Nakamura will do and RIP Zayn in the main roster.

-Finn Bálor vs. Samoa Joe
Samoa Joe looked like a million bucks. The bleeding turned him into a real beast and I kinda wished he win cause it was like watching a killing machine. Finn has a good style and I'm not that upset that he won cause it still felt like he went through hell. Next match between the two (if there's one) should end with Joe winning.

So yeah, shit was glorious. I am now going to watch NXT religiously.

American Alphas are going to rock the tag team division when they're called up. Loved their match, love the team, and I especially love JJ since he represents my alma mater. Great stuff.

Damn that was a great way to start my day, really solid show throughout.

The opening tag match might actually be my favourite of the night, crowd were super into it and I tend to forget who fun tag team wrestling is when done right. I really dug how The Revival came off like a well coordinated crafty team, their isolation of Gable was stellar and made the usual face in peril aspect of the match a lot more interesting.
Jordan has one hell of a hot tag and one hell of a dropkick and in general aside from the double team botch the match just flew by, great stuff.

Aries got dealt a pretty bad hand to make his NXT in ring debut, now I actually think Corbin has got better as of late, the dickhole heel persona unsurprisingly fits him like a glove and he's emoting more during the matches effectively making him 100% less bland than he was last year. But the match didn't really offer much for Aries to showcase his skills so it was underwhelming in that respect. Also Corbin loses so much that I actually felt he could've used a win here, moreso since Aries didn't come off looking too great even with the win.

Stepping aside from the actual match itself for a moment when it comes to Nakamura and Zayn I want to highlight just how much a good entrance can strengthen things. Zayn's theme is the god damn ear worm to end all ear worms and while his entrance was the usual the way the crowd sang along just elevated the pre fight feel.
Then of course there's everything about Nakamura's entrance, as expected though.
NXT has pumped out some stellar themes over the last few years, WWE entrance themes turned to mostly generic pap at some point around like 2006 where wrestlers had some sort of cookie cutter vocal theme with a few wailing guitars thrown in so I'm glad that now we're back to having themes that feel much more unique and memorable for each wrestler.
As for the match, well there ain't much to add that hasn't already been mentioned here, I didn't expect Zayn to deliver a strike heavy style of match but the man pleasantly surprised me.

Tears friends, tears for the defeat of my girl Bayley, I didn't want to believe it could happen, poor Izzy! This is one of those matches where I felt it could go either way, Asuka continues her tear through the woman's division or Bayley calls upon those Cena like powers of overcoming the odds as the fighting champ. Alas she got choked out but hey at least she didn't tap. The match took a bit to get up to speed but it was pretty fun and feels a touch underrated on account of what it had to follow.
But maybe that's just my Bayley bias.

Finn/Joe has been a feud that constantly made me thought they could do a bit better, once again this was close but not quite. Really beginning to dig Joe's style in ring, at first the blood added to the match unfortunately though they slowed down the pace trying to tend to Joe's cut one too many times. Should've called an audible where they went in for one more wipe session where Joe just explodes and sends them scattering across the ring in rage.
Finn Balor is okay, I actually like the whole demon thing (of course, my favourite wrestler is this one guy called Kane, you may have heard of him) but never found that Finn really embodied the idea. This time around there were glimmers of a more unhinged and aggressive style due to the demon persona but he still needs to differentiate things further from his standard style. Otherwise it was more of the reliable if predictable stuff from ol' stompy Balor. Well if nothing else he's accustomed already to that simple WWE style so....yay?
Liked the ending, not too surprised to see Finn retain as he's kind of marketed as the face of NXT so him sticking around a bit longer makes sense, if anything I'd send Joe up to the main roster.

So yeah, that was fun stuff, the run up to the takeover was lacking but as usual NXT pays off.

Just watched it this morning (because like hell am I staying up until 3am), and even for someone who's only been watching NXT for little over a month it was goddamn magnificent. Not a dull match to be found, and good lawd that Zayn/Nakamura match (dat theme too). Excited to see where NXT goes from here.

And Wrestlemania is happening too, I guess.

Disappointed that Samoa Joe didn't win TBH, I don't really know where they go with him now; main roster debut on Monday maybe? And I'm still not feeling Finn Balor, he's a pretty good wrestler sure but his promo's are awful and his Demon persona makes no sense. Still a good match though.

And that Nakamura/Zayn match. Holy shit that was incredible, great sendoff for Sami Zayn.

Bayley v Asuka is really damn good.

No big risk spots for cheep pops, just amazing back and forth wrasslin.

And it ends with a sleeper. Amazing. Crowd is shook. Bayley is broken. Asuka bah gawd.

Love that Sami set the tone of the Takeovers with his first match against Cesaro and his last match (for this run at least) is one that may never be topped in NXT. Also glad that Sami looked back to his best, the matches with Joe were good, but he either needed to shake off the rust or Nakamura's knee in his face to wake him up.

I remember HHH being pretty bad when he first came back from the first quad tear. I put it down to putting on too much muscle and slowing him down, but if it was rust, looks like Sami went through the same thing.
