No and doesn't look like he will going by the last couple of posts he made.

Has OP talked about the new information yet?
What a relieve. If course it does. People are misinterpreting the Spencer thread en mass.
So can I go straight from PS3 to PS4K? Will I miss out on the PS4's current library or will Mr. 4K still play current library titles but just not at the res in its name unless developers release a patch? Paid? Free? Re-remasters?
While I'm still generally against this, I have suddenly thought of something that would potentially bring me around to the idea:
Has anything been rumoured about the boost in power allowing PS3 backwards compatibility?
Because being able to consolidate two consoles into one, that is an upgrade I'd be willing to part with cash for.

Actually, has Verendus or GopherD chimed in yet?
Seems strange that they've gone quiet.
Oh we're here. We've got popcorn, beers and we're playing GAF bingo.
If we take it as a certainty that the PS4K will have a new AMD APU (which we should because anything else doesn't make sense), then there is little chance that it will be a Zen-based APU as these are not coming from AMD until 2017. Just to clarify, while Zen APUs are not coming this year, Zen CPUs will be arriving Q4 2016. But these are an irrelevance when it comes to discussing PS4K's internals as they are desktop PC CPUs.
So don't get your hopes up for a Zen APU with Polaris graphics cores. That would offer serious performance but is likely too far off for the new Playstation console.
No, nothing in a row yet.Did I win something yet?
That imo should be reason enough to wait a year to release this PS4K. Maybe that's Microsoft plan though.
I find it weird as well. In a world where Digital Foundry threads are full of outrage when framerates aren't locked to 30, people scanning every single piece of media of a game looking for downgrades to be up in arms about, the idea that we're getting a mid generation hardware refresh (which was going to happen anyway), along with a little extra juice to help games perform better is met with vitriol.
I get the concerns but I think they're misplaced. I don't think this will end up being as disruptive as many here are worried it will be. Time will tell though. It's exciting, either way.
Are they the same people complaining though? You can find outrage in most places online, but it'd be a mistake to assume it's evidence of hypocrisy rather than a multitude of different voices.
Even if they were some of the same voices, perhaps their complaints are rooted in what they perceive to be a lack of optimisation to bring games up to the standards they expected of this generation already. A new, more capable box being out in the market doesn't help them, unless they plan to double-dip, it emphasises those shortcomings and the fear would be it could even mean less time for optimisation on their earlier machines.
It's a risky move, as one way or another it's likely to annoy someone. Some times, more choice isn't met well, particularly when a market's built on strict cycles for new products.
Is not possible to update the first post or title because I missed these updates even though I'm trying to keep up.
Something better will always be on the way. I don't think Microsoft is waiting either.
both consoles can play all games. see it as a owning a pc and playing a game on a high and mid resolution. you can do what everybody else can, except on ps4 it will look slightly less awesome than the 4.5

You don't know this . Stop speculating on something that might not even see the light of day.
Of course. But usually tech develops and evolves in bell curves during ~3-4 years and PS4 and Xbox One were released at the latter half of their innards tech curve and to have a mid generational soft upgrade and don't refresh it seems a wasted opportunity.

The question would be where are all the people from the NX threads who want annual updates and revisions because muh unified platform talk.

The same can be said for anyone thinking that both consoles won't be able to play all games. Let's just close this whole thread down then, the entire thing is based on speculation. You don't know this . Stop speculating on something that might not even see the light of day.
this chart is for events like death, PS4K coming out is more like a birth and should be celebrated as such![]()
Kübler-Ross stages for whiners
So this is really happening? Not an elaborate April fools joke?
Uh why? No one said a new ps4 not incoming but another thing it's to bet a guaranted major upgrade. Could be just a new model with some humble improvement. The word I would use right now is surreal.

Ah no no. I misunderstood. Yup I agree with you. Not has sense for them release an upgraded model now. Maybe when sales start to drop but now could be really a useless risk.I absolutely believe a new version of the PS4 is coming. It is the order and way the info is coming out that is surreal to me.
Probably just me?
Not just you.Probably just me?
I really don't mind that consoles might be heading into this direction, but why now already? And for God's sake why Sony? They absolutely don't need it at all. Look at games like Uncharted 4,Horizon and games that are already out, PS4 hasn't nearly reached its limit and look at the sales. I don't like this new very unexpected development and like everyone, thought that it would only be Nintendo with new hardware.
I was actually planning on buying a PS4 soon right in time for Uncharted 4, but now I am going to wait. I can get a used PS4 for like 245 euros but with these new developments I'm going to wait.
any pre-order links for eurozone?
Console are underpowered but there is no limit to optimisation if developers want. The only reasons why sony should try something like this are 2, imo:It might just be future-proofing.
The following is complete speculation from someone who doesn't have a deep well of technical knowledge on game development: perhaps the ease of development on the PS4 means that we're seeing close to max potential in games like UC4. Whereas the Cell showed games getting better over time as developers got the most out of it, the familiarity of x86 and the tool set means UC4-quality is close to the peak, and perhaps Sony want to ensure they have a platform where games continue to look even better for the next 3 or 4 years.

I don't mind this. I won't be among the first diving into it since I don't have a 4k TV. But once i uppgrade the PS4,5 will be next on my list.
There is no reason devs would be happy about this, because it's just more extra work. They still have to focus on PS4 and XB1, so they can't do anything, that isn't possible on them. Only if they don't care that the standard PS4/XB1 versions run worse than they would've without PS4K, but that wouldn't be a good move for anyone.

Not just you. Kotaku and WSJ articles were already odd, in terms of such info is usually held very close to the chest until a formal announcement. Now this flood of insiders corroborating and adding more tidbits makes this even more unheard of. Not complaining though, just observing.

Jumping in extremely late here, mainly because I'm not that hot on a PS4 - BUT are we expecting a 4K or UHD BD player here? 4K = no buy, UHD under $500 = day 1. I don't think everyone is aware of the huge difference between those two yet.
I really don't want to be rude to the OP as he is verified and I do believe it is happening. I just can't correlate very vague whispers at GDC to SKU/price/launch date 7+ months in advance.
I think the NX fake has had a major affect on me.......... Apologies to the OP and insiders in advance.
