In a few weeks when Civil War doesn't break BvS worldwide opening, we will see a lot of gloating about how BvS was a bigger hit. Of course those that will gloat will ignore that CW didn't open in every territory at once.

People were saying "FUCK THE CRITICS" based just on thursday preview numbers so of course that will happen

Damn Cloverfield not gonna hit $100m BO is it. Feels bad.

I dont think a single person ever thought that was even remotely a possibility. It's at 58 mil. That was never in the cards at all. Film got some buzz for a day or two when the trailer dropped, thats really about it.

True but unless for some crazy reason it ends up bad, it should crush BvS Global by the end of its run. BvS is doing way worse than I thought it would.

Hopefully Civil War doesn't disappoint.

Quoting because I'm pretty sure this will happen and I will want to go back to this post.

I like setting impossible benchmarks and seeing how close to reality they come.

BE THE CHANGE YOU WISH TO SEE

Who gives a shit

Between Star Wars and BvS, I want to chuck a spear through my phone

Why are you even checking your phone? Aren't you doing the whole Wrestlemania thing right now Elf? You should be using it to instagram drunken adventures and hotel room rasslin sessions, and that's it.

It was an interesting situation. I think they experimented with a surprise release of a film, versus hyping it up for several months, to see if it would have a "Beyonce" effect, which it didn't.

That being said, I loved the film and I hope more people watch it.

Just to say that I called it? Civil War isn't opening in the US at the same time as other territories. It's first international weekend will still be high, but won't have the domestic bump that BvS had.
Of course, if CW beats BvS without domestic opening, then we will have a harsh thread.

I'm still pretty curious as to whether this movie actually increases Friday to Saturday. It will likely at the least hold steady, but maaaaaaaaannnnn...

The Hulk might get some rest, but Harry Potter needs a nap as well. Will Superman provide? Will he take their burden?

I also think if we get that 70% this weekend, it's a lot safer to say that Deadpool will end up beating it domestically.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE earned an estimated $15.35M on Friday. Domestic total is now $224.4M. #BatmanVSuperman #DawnOfJustice

Ultimately the fallout from the reviews are going to hurt this movie. It's not just the reviews, though, there was a massive pile on, the whole thing turned into a major internet meme. All the internet critics and opinion makers hated it too. No film can overcome that.

I don't know if people should be cheering for it to do badly though. Even if you didn't like it, you should realize that if Warners gets panicky, it's doubtful that's going to lead to anything good. It will probably only make things worse.

Its massive opening weekend means the film will still end up being profitable though. I also think the extended cut dvd is going to do very well.

O'kay some of you are gonna be REALLY excited!

#BatmanvSuperman 2nd FRI hit harder than expected at $15.35M, -81%. Wknd heading to about $53M, 68% tumble over 3days.

Where did I say it was a bomb? The numbers are showing that it's going to be a massive disappointment for WB, but I think it's pretty much impossible for a movie starring Batman and Superman to be a bomb, especially after Nolan's trilogy.

And spending "tens of millions"(I would like to see receipts for that stat btw) to delay production and replace the director with a competent one is worth it for the potential hundreds of millions they would make on the box office for a film that's good instead of one that's shit.

After seven movies, we know what Zack Snyder is and what kind of movies he makes. It's not as if he's an upstart who's had a rocky start but is about to come into his own. Keeping him after MoS was a massive mistake by WB, and keeping him on after BvS would be an even bigger mistake IMO, to the point where it would damage the franchises involved for years.

Yup.

But most likely, they'll keep Snyder anyway, because of the sunk cost fallacy, the ridiculously close production start date for JL, and WB's lack of any real vision for the DCCU on an executive level.

The most they'll probably do is shift their slate around so it's less focused on Justice League spinoffs.

Everything Warner does regarding DC movies already seems panicky.

Welp. WEELLP.

Burn it
Burn it all

Are you really in Dallas for 'Mania? At least get a picture with Sasha before you kill your phone.

Ultimately the fallout from the reviews are going to hurt this movie.

The fact it became a meme didn't help, but the added fact that viewers ended up freely participating in it as opposed to refuting it once they saw the movie is what's killing it."The Critics" didn't take a scalpel to this film's achilles like Gage in Pet Sematary. This film went down like Herman Munster because a large number of people watching did not like it, and told others not to bother. So they're not bothering.

Granted, as I've been saying - film criticism has become so democratized online over the past 15 years that the minute you tweet something and a couple people favorite/retweet it, guess what: You're a critic too! And all word of mouth is, is a whole bunch of little reviews from people to their own personal audiences of one or two people, in person. So I guess on that level, you could blame "the critics."

But I think it's just a matter of this movie being really disappointing to a very large group of people, and them making sure anyone nearby understands that.

If BvS actually gets the same weekend multiplier as Hulk did (3.32), it breaks the record by 50k lol.
