Asuka for WWE WHC - first Woman to main event Mania - first inter-gender main event - first Mania in Japan - first Mania at Tokyo Dome. Book it.

Man did Aries look laughable or what? He did what he could but that match was absolutely terrible for both of them, didn't do a thing for either party. Corbin looked like a weenie and Aries looked like a baby. Fuck.

Felt worse for Corbin. Felt like he was working harder just to get the crowd into it but to no avail.

Was just watching this. Was Linda McMahon ringside for Balor v. Joe? Can see her when Balor goes over the rail into the security guard and the spot where Joe dives out of the ring onto Balor into the barricade.

Yes she was. Jason Solomon is saying in his podcast how Linda and Steph didn't look happy when Joe was bleeding like a pig, and when the 'Fuck PG' chants broke out, Shane's kids were chanting along and Linda was smirking

For the likes of Stephanie, X-Pac, Scott Hall, etc... assume they were just there for the camera shot and subtitle and then cleared off right after?

Hall and Pac still love wrestling and you can tell when they talk about it. They probably watched it, but may have moseyed on backstage.

You could see Scott Hall and X-Pac in the crowd when Sami went to do his through the turnbuckle DDT spot. I assume all the people shown watched the one match when they were introduced, and then moved on.

Cross-post from the April thread. Asuka has already shot angles at the NXT tapings today and they don't involve Bayley. Take from that what you will.

I mean, Nakamura is in NXT for a reason. He's going to learn the WWE style. You can't very well have him kicking dudes in the back of the head repeatedly every week on TV, especially dudes not used to handling it. Sami did a great job wrestling strong style, but would you feel terribly comfortable watching Nakamura do that to, say, Cena? WWE has enough issues with injuries and concussions these days.

Not only would I be comfortable I'd be cheering it on.
A toned down Nakamura will stifle his entire character but it's gonna happen sadly I know.

I don't watch NJPW or anything so I can't really speak to it, but I do like Asuka's style as well and was a fan from the get-go. Independent of his actual wrasslin' style, his character/in-ring persona was so ridiculous it was impossible not to like him. Seconds into the match when he just rests his head on Zayn's stomach...genius.

Last night was my first exposure to Nakamura, and I really didn't understand or like his persona much. The wrestling was some of the best I've ever seen, but his mannerisms, facial expressions and general demeanor just confused me. My wife asked me why he looked like a drunk who appeared to be shitting his pants based on his facial expressions.

I'll have to watch more of his stuff to get a feel for his character.

swag·ger / ˈswagər/
• v. [intr.] walk or behave in a very confident and typically arrogant or aggressive way: he swaggered along the corridor | [as adj.] (swaggering) a swaggering gait.
• n. [in sing.] a very confident and typically arrogant or aggressive gait or manner: they strolled around the camp with an exaggerated swagger.
• adj. denoting a coat or jacket cut with a loose flare from the shoulders.

He's a Japanese man who wears a mouthguard. There's only so many ways he can emote to a global audience while not speaking their language.

I'll be honest, you either get Nakamura or you don't. You either get his lazy, flamboyant, metrosexual, laid-back charisma or you don't. That's not a knock against people but it's just...hard to put into words why exactly his swagger and mannerisms just exude cool.

It strikes me as something Vince will try his best to shit on for not understanding.

With regards to Joe/Finn - I do wonder if they're going to have an angle where Finn turns when he debuts with Balor Club and then a returning Itami will challenge him to a title match at Takeover Tokyo. Finn drops the belt to Itami, having won it in Japan months ago.

What a fantastic show. Joe should be champ but other than that I was quite entertained. I also had never seen Nakamura and that match brought out the best in Zayn, can't wait to see what Nakamura can do given even more time.

Why can't this be Wrestlemania? Tomorrow is gonna suck...

I want Nakamura on Raw. Let him do both shows. He doesnt have to wrestle often on Raw until after his NXT stint. Just set up a match for the future or something. I really want to see him in front of a crowd that deserves it

With WWE money and production values, this guy could have a Wrestlemania entrance that rivals the Undertaker.

People were marking out like crazy to him coming out in a small as stadium in front of 9000 people. That wasn't even 1/10th as epic as his Wrestle Kingdom entrances.

Yeah, I do think its a shame that we'll be deprived of a epic Nakamura WrestleMania entrance.

He'll just be another guy who'll get squashed by Big Show (in 2016) or have a 50/50 feud with Rayback

There was a moment in that Nakamura - Zayn match where I just forgot I was watching a wrestling match, and just became totally engrossed.

Absolutely masterful from start to finish. The vignette beforehand highlighting Zayn's return and Nakamura's previous work, to the handshake and farewell upon conclusion.

That overall segment of Takeover had more story to it than a lot of built up feuds.

I want him to stay on NXT because he'll have better matches there, but I also want to see him on Raw just for the fact of holy fucking shit it's nakamura on monday night raw. It'd be so interesting I think if they do it right.

You really want him in the 50-50 Club?

Get him on the Brock Lesnar schedule. Set up a match with like Undertaker or Cena or Cesaro for Summerslam. Cut promos here and there.

Just wrestle at the PPVs. I dont think I want to see him every week on Raw. I'd throw up from the booking. I'm also kind of wanting him to have a manager. Not sure how good his English is, but I'd love for him to maintain a Lesnar-like quality where his entrance and in-ring work are a spectacle to see, and he keeps his talking and appearances to a minimum

Just imagine how forced he'd be if he showed up on a random Raw. "Is it? Can it be? IT IS!"

By the way, is the WWE stage even capable of having the cinematography of NXT? There's like nowhere for Nakamura to stand in front of his name like they did last night.

There were people reporting that Steph was marking out in the crowd during the Nakamura/Zayn. Like jumping up with excitement.

Where are these reports? Not heard of them.

Also, just thoughts on the show from me. Overrated as fuck. Great, great debut for Shinsuke though. As expected!

He speaks English very well.
Okay? I disagree on your definition of very well, and English is far from a universal language among wrestling fans in many countries (Mexico, Japan, India).
I guess he should stop swagging, and grab a mic and go New Age Outlaws on his way to the ring, right? You know the essence of my post, but latched on to the last few words for some reason.

I also found myself loving Dash and Dawson during that tag match.

Absolutely hilarious heel tactics at times - very clever match overall.

Don't remember the specific one, just something I remember reading while going through the live reports this morning.

Also there are people refuting the Solomon claim that Steph was freaking out about the blood in the main event.

He's totally fluent in English and can understand it 100%. He was talking freely to people at RPW last time he was here, with no issues at all.

Nakamura is fluent in English. It's not just that he knows spots. He can and has had full conversations with guys in English.

Shinsuke/Zayn was easily the greatest thing.

Got to admit:

-tag match was lopsided in terms of storyline ("Which one's Dash/Dawson" tells you enough of the champions, regardless of how good they play their heel role). Everybody loves A.A, but it would have been even better if they had opponents to care about.

-Aries/Corbin was a real dud. Aries should be a heel. They were just a big mismatch

-Joe/Balor definitely was stopped too often and took the air out of the match. Joe really looked deadly for the brief time he was drenched in his blood. Still feel he should have won, and I will never understand Balor hype

-Women's match was good, but I think Asuka should have had a more dominating part to play. Finish felt off, mostly because the crowd didn't seem to understand that it was the finish, so the Asuka Lock felt anti-climatic. Good match, but felt like it suffered from coming off of Zayn/Nakamura.

Moving forward, my hope is for NXT to build up some good heel tag teams and more women wrestlers. Asuka needs people of her caliber, and the tag team division needs to feel competitive.

Also, I think people like Tomasso Ciampa should be getting big pushes to make the mid-card more interesting.

I wonder why HHH posted a photo posing with Asuka + the title and then deleted it.

Never said anything to the contrary. Can you tell I'm not from an English speaking country? I consider myself as someone who speaks English very well. I consider Nakamura fluent enough that he's understandable/passable.

Still don't know what this has to do with me justifying Nakamura's expressions when the person said it looked like he wanted to shit himself. But sure, if you want to tell someone who's been watching Nakamura for years and knows he's resided in the states that he knows English, go ahead. I don't post in WrassleGAF so I don't know if this level of misinterpreting posts or splitting hairs is common.

Love all your opinions and agree 100%, not so much on the tag title match though. Dash and Dawson are great, just the result was obvious! Asuka should of just killed Bayley if she's gonna choke her out. More room for Bayley to have the babyface comback.

I wonder why HHH posted a photo posing with Asuka + the title and then deleted it.

He does it with all champions from NXT, it'll be back up.

I'm not addressing your original point. I'm just saying your statement about Nakamura's English isn't true (the idea of him speaking it "very well" being a matter of opinion or agreement/disagreement). Nor is it a situation of interpretation. Nakamura can speak English 100% and can be understood 100%. That's not a difference of opinion. It's not that he's "understandable" or "passable". He speaks it as well as any given foreigner who learns a second language. That's just a fact.
