Blaming the low energy during the asuka/bayley match on the audience and not the performers is some bizarre reality and I say that as someone who has been in riveting concerts with fans screaming for 3-4 hours.

Had that Nakamura and Zayn match gone another half hour, the crowd would have been just as insane. Come on.
Huh? Crowds needing a cool down period sometimes after a crazy match is definitely a real thing. Seen it happen tons of times at shows I've been to. But if you don't believe in that I guess that's fine too.

Love that second picture. God damn this show was great with Zayn/Nakamura being one of my top 5 matches of all time.

Loved how Asuka didn't shake Bayley's hand after the match. Gave her character a bit of it's own edge.

That being said, if she had just went up and continued beating the shit out of Bayley after the match she would become a MONSTER Heel.

But NXT has no Face girls big enough right now to face her anyway so it's not to be.

P.S.-This show really shows how London could've been booked better. Can you imagine if this match had Joe as the Champion coming in? Or if Finn hadn't went Demon at London? Just something, last night made London obsolete in their story.

Zayn/Nakamura was a special match. Perceivably 2 of the best 5(?) wrestlers in the world going at it for the first time with the latter's NXT debut in front of an audience that has only mostly heard of Nakamura is pretty damn incredible. And it delivered.

The crowd was definitely drained after it, and it makes you question the match order. Maybe they should've had a match between it and the Women's match, just as a buffer.

I think the buildup to this event was worse than the booking for London. Nobody new came into the title picture, Asuka just continued her Dana/Emma feud until the last show, Sami was going for the title that he was obviously not going to win, and Elias Samson was in every episode banging his head against the same wall with no change. Great show but the three months since the last one were just kind of there.

Agreed completely. The build was weak. I just think the finish of London's Finn/Joe match (Demon Finn beats Joe clean) hurts this match because the stakes were the exact same, whereas having Joe as the champ or holding the Demon until this match signifies that Finn had to reach a higher level to win in Texas.

Strangely enough, I think what made Nakamura's intro absolutely legendary was the fact his theme song made him sound like an anime superhero. It was epic beyond belief.

Legit mark out moment.

No kidding. I was freaking out like no tomorrow when I saw Ibushi san. Then just when I thought things couldn't get any better, I saw this guy:

his leg definitely connected. they just cut to a terrible camera angle.

Fuck me... Legit as fuck.

Watching the whole show for the third time. So frigging awesome, it was too much! Topped off with the crowd giving the ultimate and highest respect I've ever heard, "FIGHT FOREVER", marked this NXT Takeover the best NXT show to date.

It feels like ever since Dusty is gone a huge chunk of creative juice went with him.

Yeah, but he kind of does that himself with or without the new music.

I was ready to jump up on my table and start chanting myself when they started that one.

Just watched Zayn vs Nakamura again. God damn this match is so incredible. As someone who doesn't watch much Japanese wrestling, I'm now a believer in the king of strong style

I told you Nakamura put on amazing shows! You should look up his Kota Ibushi, Okada, Tanahashi and AJ Styles matches sometime. Absolutely as good as the Zayn one. Some were way better.

NXT TakeOvers actually tell a consistent chronological story unlike the main WWE show. So watching them in order is the way to go.
Look at how they built Owen and Zayn up.

Then last week on Raw Zayn pins Owens in a shorty justify pay match to fill time on a 3 hour show.

Almost a year of build gone.

These dudes seem so genuinely happy.

I didn't think Zayn had a match of that caliber in him, to be honest. I wonder if Nakamura just pulls the best out of people.
A year ago jordan was getting booed out of the fucking building.

Now he is one of the most over men in the company.

Yesterday was also my first real exposure to NXT.

I would have loved to have seen a young Bret Hart in NXT.

Has he voiced his support for the league?

I don't think Bret Hart has voiced support for anything in his life.

He's actually been at a few Takeover shows, the very first one he was in the crowd I think and another one where he accompanied Natalya to the ring against Charlotte with Ric in her corner.

For a Charlotte vs Natalya NXT match a couple years ago, both Bret and Ric Flair were outside the ring supporting their family members.

This.

I like how in the background of both the Roode and Ibushi gifs is a non robotic version of Eva Marie, I think it's time to pull the trigger on an Eva Marie vs Fake Eva Marie Storyline.

Why is the quality like 200 times better than what I got on the Network

Probably recorded from television overseas in full HD bitrates, not choked-down streaming-quality bitrates. Just because it says "1080p", that doesn't really mean shit when the bitrate is so small.

Loved the close pinfall in the nakamura match. Dude worked that shit to milliseconds

It's so infuriating how little effort is made on RAW to pay close attention to stuff like, you know, character building and stories. Because fuck any previous work done to build storylines when our writers are too god damn lazy and too fucking afraid of Vince to do anything but to just randomly fill up 3 hours of TV every week with completely dead end booking.

I'd love for RAW to not be not completely awful so I can actually start watching it again.

I couldn't finish this before work this morning so I'm stealth-posting (i.e. I haven't read anything) but ogawd the Nakamura v Zayn match was gud. That was my first time ever seeing Nakamura wrassle and I'm now a convert to the Church of Strong Style. I really really really hope he's at the NXT event in Lowell in a few weeks.

The camera angle for Nakamura's finish was unfortunate.

Anyways, rumour is that Ibushi is going to sign to NXT. Add in Bobby Roo and Eric Young, in addition to Aries... it's amazing how fleshed out the NXT roster is already after losing guys like Owens, Zayn, Neville...

Women's division needs a boost though. Im guessing Bailey has a rematch. Who are the big women free agents?

Reminds me of the first time we saw the "knee that beat Cena", a legit hit.

I feel so bad for Bryan. He must really be hurting to watch NXT and see Nakamura and not wrestle him. Daniel Bryan would have been awesome in this NXT. I bet he'd willingly move down to NXT too if he could.

What we watched was a VERY RARE occasion where Japanese wrestling was played out in full in WWE. What we witness was NOT a WWE style of match in any form, what we watched was strong style Japanese wrestling. Asuka (Kanako) is known for this style too but WWE toned her down for many of the women on the roster cannot take it. Now we have to cross our fingers that there is some kind of strategy to allow Strong Style wrestling to occur on every PPV/Event if there is any kind of restriction in every day TV and roadshow showing. Crossing fingers for I DO NOT want Nakamura to be toned down and if he has to be then I do not want it to be a permanent thing, hence the PPV/event only idea. I hope you know what I mean. Frankly, I want everyone to stay as-is and Kana to showcase her REAL skills, the non-toned down level.

Man did Aries look laughable or what? He did what he could but that match was absolutely terrible for both of them, didn't do a thing for either party. Corbin looked like a weenie and Aries looked like a baby. Fuck.

I don't watch NJPW or anything so I can't really speak to it, but I do like Asuka's style as well and was a fan from the get-go. Independent of his actual wrasslin' style, his character/in-ring persona was so ridiculous it was impossible not to like him. Seconds into the match when he just rests his head on Zayn's stomach...genius.

You are correct in highlighting that it is also all about the little things too.

I mean, Nakamura is in NXT for a reason. He's going to learn the WWE style. You can't very well have him kicking dudes in the back of the head repeatedly every week on TV, especially dudes not used to handling it. Sami did a great job wrestling strong style, but would you feel terribly comfortable watching Nakamura do that to, say, Cena? WWE has enough issues with injuries and concussions these days.

Of course, the strong style is one of Nakamura's big selling points, but they're absolutely going to reign him in. Maybe like you said, he can bring it out on PPV's or special matches like Balor's demon entrance, but I could practically hear Vince cringing and grumbling with every head strike last night.

I agree with you. This is why I mentioned the PPV/Event only strategy. Can't have those multiple hits to the head every week. After all, Nakamura didn't do it at every NJPW house show (I've been to several here in japan) so it would make perfect sense to work that style at PPV/Events only. Also, now the roster is getting bigger, this is now the perfect timing (though they, WWE, should have been doing it already) to arrange resting/recovery periods for all Superstars that take part in an event and a big match. This would ensure that many wrestlers have recovered better rather than running them to the ground. Of course, all this boils down to the booking strategies as well as the execs taking the best initiatives for the wrestlers rather than making idiotic and egotistical decisions for themselves.

Also smh at Joe not getting the belt. Have no idea what's next for either him or Finn.

I really thought they would let Joe will and go for the Balor Club angle. Unfortunately, those thoughts slowly slipped away when I found out the Doc and co are going to the main roster and not to NXT. So I don't know what they will do. Anyway, Joe really should have won that match, he was a beast so its upsetting that he had to lose.

They probably won't ever call Asuka to the main roster. She'd expose the #DivasRevolution and all that marketing PR would go down the drain.

I'll be there too so fingers crossed. I'm also selfishly happy that Finn retained because that means he'll likely be there as well.

To be blunt, fuck the WWE style. They needed guys like Nakamura for a reason. Not like he doesn't have other things he can also finish matches with. Lots of dudes rock multiple endings each week in japan. Triangle choke, armbar, or whatever the hell can be a nice standby. Watering down Nakamura? Criminal. Let Nakamura bring to the table what he's there for. If Asuka can do it without murdering the roster Nakamura can.

Nakamura learning the WWE Style means toning down the stiff strikes. The same thing has happened to Asuka.
