So it seems that the general consensus is that DS>DS2>DS3
DS1 can't be topped but I'm curious if people will end up liking DS3 more over DS2 in the long run. DS2 was an extremely polarizing game
Wut.

I think there's exactly one person here who thinks DS2>DS3. The consensus seems to be either DS1>DS3>>DS2 or DS1=DS3>>DS2 depending on who you ask.So it seems that the general consensus is that DS>DS2>DS3

Bloodborne was brilliant, so that's a great sign for Dark Souls III. I'm super psyched for it. Does anyone know if Easy Allies are doing a review for it?
I don't agree. What in DS2 is better than 3?
Going by review scores maybe but amongst most players it seems to be 3 is favored over 2.

Isn't that a bit too early though? Most people here were praising DSII when it came out, calling it a perfect sequel, then started talking shit about it when the hype died down
Nah, DS3 >= DS > DS2
calling it a perfect sequel
I've only seen on review say anything bad about level design, and one say that the late game bosses are bad. Both are strange complaints.I'm on a media blackout on the game and only read a few verdicts from the reviews. There seem to be a lot of mixed opinions on level design, late game encounters and PvP, which were also an issue in the 2nd game

Why are you talking about any sort of consensus, then?
.
It's a bit good.
Dark Souls (warts and all) = Demon's Souls = Dark Souls 3 >>> Bloodborne >>>>>>> lolDS2

Why is polygon always an outlier? Looking for clicks I assume?
Was talking about the early impressions and review scores, should've specified

The game's chief issues right now are build balance and the fact that it's largely a linear game. More like a 3D Castlevania 4 than a 3D Symphony of the Night![]()

And I mean that's not necessarily an inherently bad thing either I guess, if anything it helps differentiate the game from DS1 I suppose.Maybe more like Rondo of Blood, it isn't that linear. I have missed plenty and have had to backtrack a few times already, and I am only 1/4 of the way through this game.

Actually the review reads like it fits perfectly with the score, and the complaints they raised were valid. Comparing it with other reviews and I'm not sure how much truth is in it, but it seems like a fairly balanced score based on their opinion. Worth a read if you can go in with an open mind about Souls games.
DLC doesn't magically fix all the fundamental design flaws in DkS2. DsK1 was nearly the perfect adventureThe DLC is tooooooooo good.
Again, performance doesn't change design. It's still the same game whether you play it on PC or not. He's right from a PC standpoint. Then again anything is better than Dark Souls on PC.
I think DkS2s score compared to DkS1s shows how very little reviewers understand games and game design. The problem was very well put by MrBtongue; there's no academia for games journalismDidn't you know? Players opinions are passé, it's paid reviewers what matters so yeah Dark Souls II is much better than the first and GTA IV is better than V.
Honestly, I feel like they're overstating the lack of exploration available, especially when they're also comparing it to Bloodborne.

People complained the difficulty of the first game bacause they went directly in the cemetery and petite londo. Limiting their possibility dont make this happen anymore

Since everyone's ranking the SoulBorne Games
Bloodborne > Dark Souls >> Dark Souls 3 > Demon's Souls >>>> Dark Souls 2
Bloodborne and Dark Souls are both very close to me, and among the finest games of their generations. I prefer Bloodborne's atmosphere, lore and gameplay though.
Aw man, that's not true at all. The storytelling for example is clearly better in DS1 just looking at the existence of Oscar alone, and that's not counting how much better the lore and world building is.Nah I'm sorry but ds1 is FAR from a perfect adventure. Heck most of the complaints that go against ds2 (outside of level design complaints) are either completely subjective or applicable to ds1 as well, both are fantastic games though.

Right, of courseJust not the best Demon's Souls game, right. ;p

Bloodborne > Demon's Souls = Dark Souls 1 > Dark Souls 3 >>>>> Lords of the Fallen > Dark Souls 2
As far as I can tell the pc version is decent, a gtx 960 will run 60-30 fps on ultra, with one specific area tanking frame rates, so if you value 60fps and have a card better than the 960 pc seems like the way to go.So do we k ow how the ps4 version runs versus PC? I waffling between the two, was gonna go PC but I had a few friends getting it on ps4 (their first souls game)
We should all just forget about DS2.
I like that you count lore/world building/ story as three separate things when for the most part they're pretty much the same in these games![]()
Unless you mean character stories which I still prefers ds2 which has a more extended look at a characters fall jock fits it's overall theme of gently losing an unsinkable battle and slipping away.
