I just can't believe they're still keeping Friend codes and also I don't think Nintendo Extra is the name. Extra what?

Dude

There is no reason to believe anything coming from reddit. Even the Verification is dubious

Honestly Im not sure we can trust any info that doesnt involve a leaker completely outing who he is and who he works for

Um, I'm not implying that it is a 100% certain leak due to reddit verification, but it was perceived as perfectly plausible right up until a ton more "insiders" popped up claiming outlandish toss.

Been watching this thread closely. But it seems these "leakers" are using the old throw shit at wall, and see what sticks technique.

As I'm sure that somebody has nailed a truth in amongst the nonsense.

Funny to watch though

The thing that would be most awesome would be a reveal next week. But I just can't see that coming.
Wouldn't they do that tactical during or after the conference end april? So that their stock doesn't drop too much because of 3DS and Wii U not selling too well?

GAF is filled with plausible information

The only thing that separates a clever and inquisitive gaffer and a leaker IS the legitimate connection to the real deal

which is frankly... something thats proving very difficult to lock down

I'll bet Oprah has a devkit already. Maybe she is the Reddit leaker!

It rolls off the tongue only barely more than Wii U. From what I understand, NES wasn't the mainstream nomenclature for that system until SNES came out.

Yeah. "Nintendo" was used back then.

We called "Nintendinho" here in Brazil, but mostly because the Super Nintendo was already selling - Never saw anybody here calling "NES" or "SNES"

It's BS. Friend Codes don't exist anymore. So there are no Friend Codes to "keep".

Oh yeah now I think about it WiiU removed that :/ my bad I was thinking about the 3DS. And sure they'll remove it for the next handheld.

Sorry.

Didn't LCGeek corroborate the x86 architecture info? I could be wrong.

Yeah he did.

From the most reliable evidence so far we know it's going to be X86. Mostly likely a AMD APU with a GPU more powerful then a PS4. That is a good start.

Genuinely interesting thread about a (seemingly) verified leak devolves into "let's quote every dipstick on reddit claiming to be an insider!"

Some folk here don't seem to know how reddit works it seems.

On the plus side, any genuine info from the first guy has now been swamped in nonsense and all that noise will possibly protect his source a bit.

To be fair, we've gotten some good discussion in here regarding the tech side of things, and a poster with a proven multi-year track record of having insider tech knowledge shared information that I think can be considered as least as reputable as the info in the OP. So I think this has been one of the more fruitful NX speculation threads. ☺

Yeah the tech prediction posts are likely going to be the most accurate info you will get

sure it doesnt lock anything specific to the NX but at least its factual

Agreed. If true, Nintendo can, at the very least, run third-party games easily and perhaps even have the best version of the game.

I know people in the other thread brushed it off, but perhaps Sony's seemingly quick PS4K release may actually be somewhat in response to what they know of the NX (along with boosting the power of the PSVR and pushing the limited 4K content).

Its not a response

It was planned well before that. I think the full story is out there somewhere. Both MS and Sony were seeing the writing on the wall after chasing VR and 4K media

They just dont want to miss the boat that other modern tech companies are already investing in

Perhaps. I don't think people expected it so quickly, though. I worry that PSVR may be underpowered and that is forcing their hand at this point.

More like that big box you have to buy with the PSVR is clunky and unattractive and they want to pack that power into the system.

Most definitely

They want to stay current with the latest push. Im sure MS and Sony would have liked to have at least one more year but the industry isnt waiting up

Nope, they couldn't care less of what Nintendo do atm.
ps4k is probably needed for VR like they told, but also in the grand scheme of things, to sell sony 4k TVs.

I don't think he did. Unless i missed a more recent post, he only said that the NX CPU is considerably better than what X1/PS4 have (but still far from higher-end AMD/Intel CPUs obviously). A72 would probably fit that description better than Puma.

I don't think that is going to deter any sizeable number of consumers, but I digress.

I'm talking about info that is plausably from a legit source. As in could be genuine.

But other than that I agree. Still not my point though :)

Long story short: this thread will get shutdown because we've devolved from discussing a verified reddit leak (however much we trusted it) which was at least partially corroborated by our own LCGeek (x86 architecture, >current gen cpu power), to squabbling over every nutjob/troll/fanboy on Reddit claiming to have the scoop.

My ideas about the rumoured/suggested by Iwata symbiosis between console and handheld have shifted a bit with the more believable 'leaks'. It's the part I've been most curious about from the start. The divisions now work together, what will it all mean?

My guess now is some ways off the initial thoughts about all software being shared. I think the pitch is that the systems will be a lot more similar than WiiU/3DS, and that the potential for cross-release is high. I think Nintendo will take charge and outside of more spectacular titles try to get as much as possible out there for both systems, with cross buy and all that follows. A 'Metroid Prime'-y game would be console only. Animal Crossing, mario and luigi rpg etc would be cross-platform. 3rd party developers will probably have the choice.

Friend codes? That means one of two things.

1) It's bullshit
2) Nintendo is doomed to have Wii U level's of sales

Friend codes seems like a red flag for bullshit.
He said that you can't just add anyone without knowing them but didn't say more before he quit the 'leaking business'. I guess what he meant was each person has to input each others id.
But I guess we won't hear more from him. The subreddit is doing some changes to policy now because of everyones a dev apparently.

Seriously, though--nothing in that OP is groundbreaking or even unexpected at this point. All generic information.
