So I would ignore everything in the OP. LCGeek is the only one we should be listening to at this point.
LCGeek said:Cause most of gaf and net who understand speculation or theory would like more proof. One detail doesn't make up for what I had last time or what others in better positions than me would have. Look how off people were the last 2 gens. This reddit rumor is legit but not context which is why I put up that red flag in a topic that basically is skyrocketing much quicker than other nintendo pre launch spec wars.
LCGeek said this earlier in the thread.
Haha the subreddit mods have now banned 'insider'/'leak' posts. party's over guys.
"But not context," whatever that means.
The latest leak from that redditor.
6GB - 8GB. That sounds about right. Not sure about the DDR4 though. I expect DDR3.
Did a search, he did actually.
Oh well, it was an interesting thread at least. I guess we'll find out soon enough what's what.
I consider this a sound decision.Haha the subreddit mods have now banned 'insider'/'leak' posts. party's over guys.
No, they just have to acceptAm I wrong here or aren't you required to input both IDs when adding friends when using the Friendlist? I've always used Miiverse but I remember something about it?
EDIT: Seems I'm not mistaken
Well whatever comes of the Reddit guy, LCGeek has potentially given us the most NX info we've had so far.
Well, I mean the info boils down to being better than the PS4/XB1 and that's about it.
No, they just have to accept
The earlier What we know so far about the Nintendo NX with sources was locked due to topic derailment. I've got nothing against a more general thread, but it could be something to keep in mind.Better LCGeek creates a new thread with a list of real info. That way we're almost sure we are discussing the correct information about the NX.
And that's a whole lot more than we knew before![]()

NX is launching next year though.![]()
Havn't seen Thraktor's post indeed (timezones sucks), but if tech-GAF or Thraktor himself can give expanded advice on this:
I remember the AMD winning every video game related markets but, it can apply to just CPU for what we know, iirc?
If they reveal the console, you still don't know the specs. Nintendo never reveals that.

Maybe for all verified neogaf members. They even can confirm if new information is true or not.

Seeing as the REDDIT rumors are likely BS, maybe it's better to make a new topic with the LCGeek "leak" concerning the NX>>>>>XBO>>PS4 CPU, added with Thraktor's CPU "guide" for NX.
I think that kind of information is a lot more helpful.
PS: to those discussing the Nintendo game using UE... i think the original Metroid Prime had some UE2 code somewhere, but it was not really used in game. I remember people thinking it was running on a highly modded UE2, but later that was debunked i believe.
Which Reddit rumor is he referring to as legit? There seems to be several.

Nothing in the OP was confirmed fake bro
I see, that's valid points (except for the 3rd party one, who cares about that when designing a hardware in Kyoto), thanks for the answer. Just in case, humor me NeoGAF keeps an eye open on Nvidia. There are numerous reasons why AMD would be strongly assumed to provide the GPU (and hence SoC) for the NX home console:
STUFF
Must've changed it then. Miiverse was add and accept but I remember the Friendlist being different and you both had to add each other :S?
What did this person say? Sorry, I'm a little late to the party. So I would ignore everything in the OP. LCGeek is the only one we should be listening to at this point.

At no point did you enter in friend codes on the Wii U...and both Miiverse and the Friendslist allowed you to send invitations and accept them. You're confusing it for the 3DS or something
You type in their Nintendo Network name. They then have to type in yours at some point. After that... voila! You're friends in the system.

Is there a link? The CPU is noticeably better than the x bone CPU
Is there a link?
Wasn't talking about friendcodes but NNID.
From the Kotaku link:
As I was trying to say if you added via the friendlist no invitation popped up on your friends side but rather (s)he had to add you too. This was when it released don't know about today.
We'll have to agree to disagree on that one.
There are numerous reasons why AMD would be strongly assumed to provide the GPU (and hence SoC) for the NX home console:
Including both the GPU and CPU on the same die (i.e. in a SoC) is by far the most sensible for Nintendo. Not only does it allow for a high-bandwidth low-latency connection between the CPU and GPU, but it's actually quite a bit cheaper than using two separate dies*. That being the case, if AMD is providing the GPU, the CPU would have to be one which AMD could include on-die with it, which limits things to either AMD's in-house cores or ARM reference designs.
- Nintendo have followed the same GPU team since the N64 (the Silicon Graphics team which created the N64 GPU left to found ArtX, who designed the GPU used in Gamecube and Wii, who were purchased by ATI, who were purchased by AMD, who designed the GPU used in Wii U)
- AMD winning Sony and MS's business suggests they're willing to offer a better deal than Nvidia
- Using a similar GCN GPU architecture to PS4 and XBO would simplify things for third parties
- AMD announced in December 2014 that they'd won two semi-custom designs, at least one of which is gaming, and which are due to ship in late 2016. In January 2016, AMD re-confirmed that one of their semi-custom wins is due to ship late 2016. It's now in theory possible that this is PS4K, but the timing aligns almost exactly with what we'd expect for NX.
*In general. In theory if both the CPU and GPU were large dies on an immature, low-yield node it might end up cheaper to keep them separate, but that won't be the case here.
Is there a link?
I've stated before and since any specs were revealed this gen most would have shitty cpus this turned out to be true, so to be fair my own perspective is skewed.
amd 8350 stock >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> NX>>>>> X1 >> PS4>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Wii U. All 3 of big 3 manufacturers got this issue wrong, yet I know next gen 2 of them won't cause they tend to do a decent job. Nintendo isn't impressing anyone.
PS4 already uses less power in its newer models compared to D1, i think it's around 115W now.I always love your posts, but I think it will have to be 14nm for a couple reasons.
1. If NX is more powerful than a PS4, it can't be the same manufacturing node, Nintendo simply doesn't have the desire to create a console so big and power hungry, it just goes against everything they have done in the past 3 generations.
2. Nintendo would have to use Polaris to achieve a faster clock or better performance per clock, which can only be produced at 14nm afaik.
NX is looking to be an (A72) 8 core ARM based console with 2ghz+ clock (if LCgeek's arrows mean anything?) and at least (polaris) 12 CUs @ 1GHz for 1.536 TFLOPs with each flop out performing GCN.
It is either this, or Nintendo is creating a console as big, loud and power hungry as PS4, which just doesn't sound realistic.

Read thread...head explodes.
Why the hell have i been a junior member for like 3 years now? Someone leak that to me?
