the at-ats are looking kind of different, right?

They're the taller model that was initially used, see Rebels season 2. The Empire "streamlined" them by the time of ESB.

never made much sense to hire them to build an advanced superweapon, they seemed like a rather primitive people.

They were actually pretty great builders, which is part of the reason that George made them "termites" living in big spires. The line about it got cut - it's in a deleted scene from AotC where Anakin and Padme are on trial after they get captured in the droid factory.

...Berch Teller's rebel cell...

I see. I just searched and see that this is from the Tarkin novel. I need to read that. It's on my list for sure.

Hey, I wonder if the [Rebels S2 finale spoilers]
Huge laser from the Sith temple used a giant kyber crystal? Vader knows where the place is now, maybe the Empire went back and nabbed that? I'm sure after he staggered back home and told Palpatine about it, I'm sure he was keen to go see it himself.

Vader doesn't wear a hood, so no. I think it's more likely the hooded character is either
The Emperor
or just some other new character

Wow, could Ian reprise his role in this film then? I never thought about that. Wonder if that actually is the Emperor.

What are some examples?

Quinlan Vos
Adi Gallia
Asajj Ventress
Technically (spoilers if you haven't seen the Clone Wars series):
Darth Maul not being dead

not a whole lot, but they've shown that they're not completely opposed to bringing back EU characters

Endor's moon was pretty tropical. This is the first time we've seen a beach, though, yeah.

I suppose it sort of counts yeah. Anyway, I just think it's nice to see new environments.

It does! Filoni confirmed that in an interview after the season 2 finale.

Is Jyn Luke's daughter?

Assuming he didn't impregnate anyone when he was a child, no. This movie is set right before Episode 4, when Luke is barely a man.

Are we getting Kyle Katarn?

No. That Cassein Willix dude looks like a Kyle Katarn send-up, though.

There better be some Bothan spies that die in this. Other than that, HOLFY FUCK this looks amazing. So many feels during that star destroyer shot.

Bothans got the plans to the second Death Star, not the first Death Star. Kyle Katarn originally got the plans to the first Death Star in the PC game Dark Forces.

that never made sense to me but whatever...

So how are they going to square this story away with the fact that the Geonosians were already working on the Death Star at the end of RotS? Did it just take 20 years to finish? Did the project get turned over to imperial human scientists at some point?

Actually, WILL they even address this?

Yes, the Empire themselves put the finishing touches on the Death Star. They wiped out all the Geonosians ~4yrs before ANH. They glide over it on Star Wars Rebels.

I had no idea Donnie Yen was going to be in this. If they don't have him kicking some ass with a lightsaber, well then fuck everything. I can totally see him being an old Jedi that got blinded possibly when Order 66 came down. Could be something else entirely though. Movie looks really fucking cool.

I'm super excited for Ben Mendelsohn He became one of my favorite actors after Bloodline and The Place Beyond the Pines, dude is awesome AND he looks fucking awesome in Rogue One. The shot with him walking through the shallow water with his cloak floating up is gorgeous.

Seriously. The look on his face when they first intro him in the teaser...Ugh. Guy has got terrifying intensity down to a science. It's amazing how well he plays wounded vulnerable people as well considering how he can just flip the switch and turn right back to scary as shit again.

After watching the teaser a couple more times I have to say I still don't get the argument about "stilted dialogue" or YA lines. Main girl has like four lines in it and they're all clearly meant to be snarky and then we hear Forrest's voiceover and it sounds pretty much in line with the sort of thing a million mentors would say in any other Star Wars movie.

I wouldn't have thought so but they've managed to keep so much about this movie under wraps that now I won't be surprised if it's the case.

I mean, Mon Mothma is in the movie. There's no way Mon Mothma can be in this but Bail isn't, unless Jimmy Smits didn't want to come back for some reason. And yet we've heard nothing about Jimmy Smits being cast. So who knows what else they could have kept secret?

New theory: maybe this isn't a bacta tank, but what the Kyber Crystal powering the Death Star is held inside? Maybe this is right after it was installed. I don't know why he'd kneel to it, but I also don't know why he'd kneel to someone suspended in a bacta tank.

This honestly looks far more interesting than TFA. Will have to wait until I watch the movie of course, but TFA didn't do all that much for me.

Why the hell are people using spoiler tags to analyze a teaser? Unless you have inside info, I don't understand the point.

new theory: the robed character is an unimportant personal assistant to palpatine, like the ones he had as chancellor. The person in the bacta tank is palpatine, healing from his battle with yoda.

The person in the tank is likely
Vader
and the tank is probably
an earlier version of whatever life support pod Vader uses in Empire
. The Imperial Guards are there either because
Vader is kind of helpless when in the tank
or because
the hooded guy is The Emperor
