Captain America: Civil War |OT| Does Whatever A Snyder Can't
I'm joking, but I just couldn't resist posting it.
Causing visions of the past/future. She gives Thor a preview of the vision he has when he goes into the cave with Selvig. That's not telepathy. She could have no idea about these things.I don't rememebr her doing anything that couldn't be explained by TK and telepathy

I also remember her throwing some kind of energy balls.
Hill mentions "neuro-electric interfacing" as another power.
I'd rather they explained that magic pool than to attempt to explain Scarlet Witch's power (where no explanation would be for the best).Infinity stone, bro. Aint gotta explain shit.
Thor does see the future in his vision (he sees Vision's eyes) but he actually doesn't see anything new about his vision with Heimdall when he's in the pool, just the infinity stones.

She also reads Ultron's mind, despite him not having a brain.Obviouslly no one can predict how her powers would work on alien minds, and TK balls are thing. She was taking apart ultrons on a molecular level, that is high level stuff.
I WANT to understand the logistics behind that magic pool. Nay, I NEED to understand why it had the power to make Thor's decisions for him.please no. why would you want more of that scene.
The original concept for the pool was better (Thor is possessed by clairvoyant spirits) but the actual deleted scene depicting that felt uneven. I dunno, there was probably a better scene overall lost in editing.I'd rather they explained that magic pool than to attempt to explain Scarlet Witch's power (where no explanation would be for the best).

"The original scene was that he went to speak to the Norns," Whedon said, referring to female beings in Norse mythology who control destiny. Basically, Norns are analogous to The Fates in Greek Mythology. "How it would work was, he goes into the pool, and the Norns possess him, basically. And Erik Selvig asks all the questions, and the Norns, speaking through Thor, give the answers."
The scene, as originally written and shot, didn't play well for test audiences, Whedon said. He has a couple theories about that. First, the test audiences saw an effects-sparse early cut. And it's also the kind of scene that would work well in a Thor movie steeped in Norse mythology, but not so well in an Avengers movie. Thus, almost all of that was lost in the theatrical cut.
The problem I have with unexplained powers is it allows new powers to emerge for convenience's sake. She can do whatever she needs to do in the moment, because it looks cool or the plot demands it, and we have no grasp of her stakes or limitations. In Ultron, all she had to lose was her brother. She lost him. She freaks out and lets one of the Ultronnettes flip the switch. We know she has trouble protecting other people, other things, but she never feels at risk herself. With Quicksilver dead there is nothing to anchor her emotionally. Without clarity there is little reason to invest in her character.

Man, test audiences were sooooo completely off the ball with that one and I wish they had stuck to their guns for this scene.stuff got cut

That doesn't make it any clearer. His consciousness comes from the "Mind" gem, source of unlimited psychic energy

No, they make a point to say she can't do that. She's only able to read him while he was connected to Vision. She also reads Ultron's mind, despite him not having a brain.

Vision's abilities were also poorly explained but seemed a more direct translation from the comics. It was easier to grasp what he could do, whereas SW had this nebulous goop that she could throw or put in people's heads or splash around when she was angry.
That doesn't make it any clearer.
Please don't do this or anything related to BvS. It will just lead to fanboy talk for the first few pages and likely end with a mod changing the title.Captain America: Civil War |OT| The Greatest Gladiator Match in the History of the World
A big appeal of scarlet witch in the comics is how her powers are weird and unpredictable. Casting a hex has the effect of "bad luck" happening; chaos magic is exactly as it sounds, as unclear as it sounds, the same with "reality altering".
Movie witch has a long way to go before her powers are nearly as bonkers and unexplainable as comic book witch.
I do maintain that is part of the character. She's not meant to be a heavy hitting magic missile, but rather a chaotic force of nature.

Agreed. I also don't want to be forced to think about BvS every time I see the thread. I rather go for the simple titles like the "Hey Everyone" or "United We Stand", "Divided We Fall", etc.
I have no problem with SW in the comics. In the MCU she feels incongruous. We'll see if Civil War sets parameters for her.
I think manipulating probabilities (is that what she's still doing?) is a cool, creative power. MCU Scarlet Witch does not seem to follow that mold.
