They did have that long-running pie gag (and some other dark humor), but I contend Ostrander's run was darker on the whole than many of the recent runs. They're more overt with the violence at times, but Ostrander hit that combination of DC super villany, real world politics, grey morality, and brutality better than most. It's why his run was amazing.

But that kind of feels like what I'm seeing here. There's a lot of funny, but it's mostly playing on how dysfunctional these people are. A twisted sense of camaraderie, general psychosis. At the same time it's dealing with the larger implications of the US government trying to process how it deals with a world filled with metahumans.

I dunno, I'm seeing a lot of Ostrander here.

Sill not a lick of an accent for Harley. Regardless if it's her version that's a hall mark of the character for over a decade and more. You can't just change that.

I'm really glad he's not shirtless since that's what I hated the most from when he was first shown off. His jackets and whatnot make the rest work.

I'm thinking they're the first group that got sent in to try and figure out whatever the hell was going on, then the Squad got called in when they were... turned, or something.
