You're just proving my point.
What's wrong with Capcom catering to the what a large group of people like?
And releasing the same characters every game because they are staples of the franchises?
just like there is nothing wrong with new characters.
The problem is, people are selfish and want new characters all the time at the expense of people who like the classic. I can pull up the threads when people thought Ken wasn't in, they were glad and happy because "no more Ken army online" Ken is one of the most popular characters in the game. A huge chuck of the fanbase would want him in, but no lets get eagle to replace him -_- that's the logic i have a a problem with.
I want the game to sell, and for it to keep growing,
If popular characters help, then put as many of them in as possible.
If everyone falls in love with Urien, he better be in the next one.
I'm not just concerned about what I want.
If Snake eyes only plays zangief, then I want zangief to be in there.
His play entertains thousands of people around the globe and the community learns from him.

.... Yeah anyway. I don't know what point you are even trying to make. Ken and Ryu and hands down the most popular characters and there are some that don't even want both of them in the game at launch lol. My point is, the larger user base likes classic characters, and it would be stupid to ignore them. Also there's a ton of people that don't play online or ranked, so having usage as a barometer to a characters popularity is probably useless. Alex Urien, guy, Sakura, I'm not just talking about sf2 cast but popular characters in general. Put em all end if it's going to help grow the userbasse.
09er syndrome. SF4 sold well therefore the roster was perfect and anybody not included is not perfect and therefore obscure. Blanka, man, what a must-have. They should have scrapped Fang for him.
I wasn't talking bout Alex, karin or R. Mika at all tho so what's your point?
You can't satisfy everybody.
but you know what they can do? satisfy me by putting deejay into this game. this game sucks until deejay is added.
I'm speaking from privelage because I want the pro players to be able to play the characters they put a lot of time in to master? You guys are making zero sense. I'm saying they effect the community to a greater extent, and it's nice when they bring out characters full potential. But yeah who gives a f about snake eyes, we anti pro here on gaf. You're speaking from the position of privilege while playing the victim. Also, you are really holding on to the no Ken at launch thing -- I remember that clearly and it wasn't so much "please no Ken" as it was "oh that's the rumor? hmmm, I'm okay with that."
How is a character gonna get a chance to be popular if he wasn't in SF4 and isn't in SFV? It's a catch 22, that's why they have to bring back characters like Birdie, Mika, Alex, etc and give them a chance to get some modern screen time. You can't keep dipping into the same well, it gets monotonous and in all honesty some of the characters have been ass or plain boring in several revisions (Dee Jay, Honda, Dan). It's okay for a character to sit out a game every once in a while, or to be a late inclusion.
As I've said before, personally I think the series distribution for the first round of DLC is good. And of course you have your staples, which are clearly defined by the base roster in SFV. But that doesn't mean they should strive to put every SF2'er in there.
Edit: yeah, who gives a shit who snakeeyez plays, as Scotia said he'd use somebody else. No way do you include a character for one human being, that's actually insane.
RAGE QUIT SYSTEM
We’re also happy to announce that we will be implementing a system to punish players who frequently disconnect during matches (aka rage quitters).
The way this will work is the system will identify players who have high disconnect rates during matches and will lock them out of matchmaking for a period of time. Players who have been identified as abusing the system will receive an in-game message notifying them they have been locked out of matchmaking. More additions and enhancements to this system will be implemented in the future.
This isn't going to fix shit lol
This is just giving ragequitters cute breaks.

It works in smash.
You think adding the same characters gets boring, I'm talking about adding characters that please the largest range of the community. Snake eyes is just an example of a character that's not hugely popular, but has become very important to the franchise and his play is shared through the community. Your logic, he can play someone else, gief is boring. But I'm the one just worried about myself? I don't play gief lol. I'm saying pro players are more crucial to the community that I am. But yeah completely selfish on my part. ?How?
Because then you ignore other people and that's the opposite of what you want to do as a company.
Also lol at 'what a large group of people want'. Go look at the Vega, Gief and Sim reveal thread. Half of those posts were 'Oh ____ is back. Bring back ____'. Face it, you're not the large majority any more.
BECAUSE IT GETS BORING! I don't want to see Gief every game. I don't want to see Guile every game. Fuck, if Alex was in every game I'd probably get bored of him too. People don't want to see the same shit again and again.
Cool, we agree on someting.
This just reeks of 'I'm the victim here.'
So do I, but it seems Capcom is doing a shit job of making it sure it does.
That's the thing, 'popular' changes every SF game. For SF4, it was the SF2 and alpha characters. Now, I'd say it's the characters that weren't in SF4.
People already love Urien. They've been waiting just as long as I have.
Yes you are.
I couldn't give a shit who Snake eyes plays. He doesn't effect me at all so why should I care. He'd fine someone else to play anway.
So Gief should be in because one guy plays him well? Great logic.
Do they also get penalized for the specific match quit too?
At this point it seems like pie in the sky, but I really wish it would allow you to choose different characters in casual mode. I would love to reserve my main character for ranked matches and just pick someone on the fly to experiment with in casual. I'm good enough with my main where non ranked matches are kinda pointless, but the whole point of casual for me is to road test different characters without affecting rank. Of all the problems with Street Fighter V, this is the only one that's actually dampened my enjoyment.

this is what I have a problem with. Just a b/s post from casuals that just want to play Cpu and pretend they are good. It doesn't matter what era the cast comes from, if they add variety in gameplay then there is nothing Same ol' about them. And SF3 didn't fail because it had an all new cast.I too have no desire to see the same ol' characters every game(looking at you classic characters, shotos especially), but we all know what happened when they tried that last. Its a shame really. Fans of the series stifle creativity by being fans.
you get locked out for 10 minutes if you rage quit, it doesn't care even if it's an accident.
It wasn't the sole reason, but it definitely played a part.this is what I have a problem with. Just a b/s post from casuals that just want to play Cpu and pretend they are good. It's actually refreshing that this argument is back in rotation for the things people bitch about with SF5.
Turd strikers have to be the biggest whiners around.
im actually perplexed we are getting this bullshit from some regulars in the OT thread. Since when has it been about aesthetics over gameplay in SF? We MK now? People quoting me like i want all classic characters in, zangief is boring, no need for sim because they have low usage? Wtf?It's actually refreshing that this argument is back in rotation for the things people bitch about with SF5.
No doubt it did. But there were many factors involved. No one of telling how big the cast issues even effective the title.『Inaba Resident』;201283426 said:It wasn't the sole reason, but it definitely played a part.
Its almost nostalgic at this point lol
Stop. Petty insults like this and "09er" are dumb.
Gief has to be in every SF.
Sorry guy, I don't make the rules.
lol, did the rule maker skip SF3?
This isn't going to fix shit lol

Snake eyes inspires more people to use a character, but screw him! I'm tired of zangief.
Lol y'all cray
I'm more interested in seeing classic characters get a shake up. They're doing a fantastic job so far. Had an incentive to try out the new Sim over all the new character, and I never liked Sim before.
What if he goes prone? :OCROUCH WALKING WTF
It's like you've had this post ready since the DLC characters were announced months ago or something.

Pretty clear they're going in order of the images here. Alex being first confirmed it for me, but Guile coming next couldn't be coincidence.

I would think anyone who "gets" SF would take that into consideration automatically but guess not.Lots of people don't take diversity of playstyles into consideration. They care only about "their" enjoyment, which is perfectly fine, but it's really a different conversation than what we're having.
