Street Fighter V - Guile Screenshots (April 2016 DLC character)

How come Birdy is the only character that has literally aged and gone to pot, while most of the cast look like they've barely aged a day?!
Bison and Dhalsim don't look older to you?
Nash is literally rotting away!

You can't attack donuts the way Birdie does and come away unscathed sadly.

Bison's hair has turned white, while Dhalsim had grown a scraggly beard. Physically, they both look identical and haven't changed much. Aside from his frankenstein body parts, Nash looks the same, as well.

Not too mich time has passed between IV and V since the gap between 2 and 3 is only a few years. The cast is made up of charcters who train regularly, itMs not like they'd let themselves go when their main goal/career involves being in shape.

Edit: Even characters with very little changes got some agong/visual difference. Gief is showing age lines and Ryu's face looks older/less round for example.

Thats the US Air Force uniform without the coat.

Is the Air Force service dress just dress blues with a jacket?

Flight jacket alt would be cool.

I would actually chalk that up to an art style change and higher fidelity. Honestly none of the cast to me look older except Karin.

Well, outside of Karon, Birdie and Nash the characters have only aged a couple of years max since their last appearance in the series. Small things like crows feet, beatds and a new hairstyle are all that can really happen in a short amount of time.

I'm actually surprised so many people haven't seen a US air force uniform before. Not once did I think Guile was a cop or hell even a mall cop but maybe that's just me. Maybe people haven't seen any US air force members in uniform, I don't know.

People who stay in shape don't age as poorly unless they go all the way over the hill and turn into shriveled mummies.

And basically any character in SF should be in amazing shape to reasonably be surviving punch-ups with dudes like Ryu who just train 24/7. Ono's chubby-chasing aside.

"Free" ? I would hope the season pass includes everything being released for 2016. Free ain't what it used to be...

You can't buy stages with real money. And the stage wasn't originally included with the season pass. Just 6 characters and their premium costumes until they added this stage much later down the line. So yes, its free for season pass owners.

I am still hoping we get Mika's stage. That would be incredible...

Like I've been stating these past months, I'm still hoping that we'll get all the stages shown in the character art, i.e. Mika's, Necalli's, FANG's, Rashid's and possibly Ryu and Birdie's depending on whehter their art shows parts of the current Kanzuki estate and London Railway stages or not (or whether they'll open up those offscreen parts of the current stages or not with actual transitions). Getting all the currently seen stage variants - and hopefully more - also seems like a safe bet at this point.

Regarding Guile's stage: I'd never thought I'd say this as one of the biggest stage-focused people here, but while I appreciate them releasing a new stage so soon, I'm not sold on the fact that they're actually straight up lifting an old stage from SFII without at least updating it so that it reflects the newer time period used in SFV. The plane should have been replaced with a newer model for instance, as should the radio.

As it is, this stage doesn't really make any sense apart from being a nostalgic throwback, a time capsule or a museum piece, while it could have been an actually updated and used military airfield that makes sense in the current SFV world. Nitpicky? Perhaps, but that's how I feel as someone who values artistic consistency and freshness over the safety of nostalgia.

That said, if throwback stages are now a (nostalgia driven) necessity, why not bring back Balrog's Vegas stage as well now that his new outfit clearly hams up the bling and posession focused prize fighter side of his character? A new iteration of Sagat's Thailand stage would also be cool, though they probably should wait till he becomes DLC.

Just want to point out that the plane absolutely should not be a newer model. The F-16 is still in standard use by the USAF, and will be until at least the mid 2020's. There isn't really a newer model to replace it. The only other multi-role fighter used by the US is the F/A-18, which is used by the Navy, not the USAF.

I see. I'm doubtful that this was the main reason for keeping it but thanks for pointing this out. Not to veer too far off-topic but what about the F-22 Raptor then, developed by the USAF? Has it not replaced the F-16 either?

*listens to Guiles theme*

Yep SFIV was just an aberration, Ken's theme >>>>>>>>>> Guile. (I'm guessing it's the same composer as Ken's theme out of the 4 people scoring it....)

And as much shit that Fukasawa gets for SFIV, his IV theme is way better.

The USAF does use F-22s as well, but they have different roles. The F-16 is a multi-role fighter, while the F-22 is an Air Superiority Fighter. F-22s would be primarily used for air to air combat, while F-16's are used for combat/recon/electronic warfare ect. The F-22 is also much more expensive, resulting in just under 200 planes being built, compared to the 4,500+ F-16s that have been produced. The F-16 and the F-22 should both be replaced by the F-35 Lightning sometime next decade, if they ever get that thing working properly, but as of right now the F-16 will probably be the primary fighter of the USAF until the mid 2030s.
