If this comes out this year in the West I'll be very surprised but extremely happy. My most hyped game by far, even more so than FF15, Zelda and Deus Ex Mankind Divided.

Because they said it was going to release world wide last year before the delay. I think most people forgot about that.
Also the in game game engine can just as good as anime if they try. Look at the new Ni no kuni
Well, I did say on the surface. I am personally bearish when it comes to the likelihood of a simultaneous launch in regions for this game. I don't think the localization situation was that simple.
They never said this. By WW, the poster is talking about a simultaneous launch, not the fact that the game will eventually be available in all regions.

That assumes Atlus USA and Atlus Japan are equal partners in this relationship.
I for one, would not be surprised if Atlus USA isn't even allowed to touch any code of Persona 5 until only this year.
I can see people assume this though since they were reinforcing the 2015 year release until September, so the assumption was that they'd be capable of it getting localized quickly if needed. Unfortunately, it turns out that it seems was just a case of maintaining the release date year even when you know you couldn't get it out in that time.
Yeah... the hopefuls should brace themselves. This tease has lead to a lot of excitement, but we'll be seeing a whole bunch of "What about us?" kind of comments after this event is shown to be strictly for Japan and we don't hear anything about its contents for the West for a long while.

I think atlusprime/Atlus USA probably have their hands full with the various localization jobs they've got going. I think last time he was here, atlusprime said they were only a handful or two, like maybe 20 people max? I can't remember, but i'm not sure they've got that much superhuman strength. Which kinda sucks lemons on the prospect for even a USA release this year, unless it was some stealth project they were working on last year.
It does seem that Atlus (as in the parent company) seem to forget about Atlus USA as much as Europe actually existing. I'd take a japanese audio, english subtitles release tho....

A NEO release would have no real benefit to a cross gen game.
The PS4 version should have no problem hitting milestones like 1080 and 60fps I would imagine.

Most people don't have a problem with the delay itself but AtlusUSA convincing people it was coming last year.
I seriously hope they don't try to pull a last quarter of September release date influenced by the deluded comments on how Persona 5 can match or surpass FFXV's success. It's only going to hurt both games, specially this one, which is smaller and just doesn't have the same marketing pool. I know there's no way it's happening overseas, but there's a chance it could happen in Japan.

Let's be honest with ourselves. P5 didn't have to come out on PS4.
Persona isn't a series that rides the bleeding edge of technology, its graphical charm is portrayed by the vivid art-style. NEO would be overkill at this point. The PS4 doesn't really offer a Persona game anything other than a higher resolution, maybe they can use the share button and touchpad in some interesting ways, but I highly doubt that.
The PS4 version is just a sign of how late P5 was being released on the PS3~ which is pretty much dead in the west.

Not that worried about the EU date since the PS4 is region free, you can just import from the US anyway.
If I'll import depends on the release date in the US/EU and on other games coming out around those dates.

Arena's was a special circumstance, and they didn't have region lock for ultimax, so I'm pretty sure they wont region lock games from now on.
Yeah, Atlus USA doesn't have game programmers, so it's Atlus Japan staff doing text insertion, and going by how small even the Japan side is compared to other companies, I don't know if they'd have people free until the game went gold. I'd imagine that at some point, a worldwide release would actually mean a delay for Japan.
Pretty sure the only small localization company who has a game programmer is Xseed, and even then, she's freelance.
I like it when Atlus use their style in the anime cutscenes:
That looks good, but that is from the opening most likely, where as the actual game anime cut-scenes are washed out, generally much less fluid in animation, details, lighting ect.
Maybe if they had the Persona 3 movie team doing the cutscenes it would be better, but these lower quality scenes just stand out too much as it is now.

I'm with you there. If the PS4 wasn't region free, I wouldn't let myself care about persona 5 until it came out.

And it was pretty smart IMO, as good as Persona 5 is (I think it will be better than FFXV) they should not try and clash horns with the behemoth as marketing-wise they will be crushed.
