Yeah, there have been quite a few BF5 fakes. There are also fake logos floating around. Right now the only credible rumors about it center around the concept of an alternate take on WW1.

I listed what I wanted before, but I'd like to revise it slightly:

1) Alternate timeline set in the 1980s with the USA and USSR entering global war.

2) Korean War

3) BF: 1944

4) BF: 3000 (or some future thing)

5) BF: 2057 - Set a few years after WWIII with there still being fairly advanced personal weaponry, but with the major military infrastructure being destroyed (so no drones, satellite stuff, etc). A mix of post-apocalyptic and military.

I'm 100% confident that it's going to be 2143 or some variation of that. The amount of 2142 easter eggs in BF3, BF4, and the Last Stand DLC for BF4 all hint towards it. I can't see them making that Last Stand DLC and then going into a WW2 setting for a mainline BF5, it just doesn't make any sense.

Also more bullshit doesn't equal depth. There's lots of depth to be had in ww1/2.

I find all this clamouring for a WW2 shooter to be pretty silly. I loved WW2 shooters back when they were popular, and I've repeatedly called for people to stop doing modern shooters and do some WW2 stuff again, but BF5 in WW2 would be a total mistake. It'd lack depth above all else.

Please no future, space or alternate history shit, the reason I love Battlefield is that it's somewhat grounded in reality (excluding 2142, but then I never played that, just doesn't appeal to me). Maybe the 80's or early 90's is a nice change, I'm sure there are plenty of global conflicts the game could be based around...

Alternate history just doesn't make any sense for a mainline Battlefield. Does 2142 count as mainline? I mean alternate history would work great for a Bad Company 3 though.

It's not just the easter eggs, pretty much the entire final DLC for BF4 was a prequel to 2142.
