Gave me a chuckle

People are setting themselves up for a disappointment. Expecting a 94 or above is almost impossible now a days. Especially for a fourth game in a series.

I'm expecting overly generous reviews, tbh. High profile games usually get A LOT of slack from reviewers when they probably shouldn't.

What. This gen especially, reviewers have been much more critical of these triple-A games. The highest console game on meta right now is at what...93? Most games end up receiving scores around the 80s.

TLOU: R scored in the mid 90s and that was a rerelease of a PS3 game.

I don't think it's an unrealistic prediction for U4

Let's predict the criticism:

-A.I partners get in the way and break stealth immersion
-Some areas are too large for their own good and lack cohesiveness
-No massive "wow" setpiece series is known for
-Story feels too dark
-Slow beginning
-One dimensional villain

Hey...who is the villain anyway? Is it just Nadine? I don't recall the main villain at all. Hopefully he/she is less boring than the grandma in UC3.

I find it so odd when people get mad at posters for obsessing over reviews...in review threads. Go figure. It's like when people get mad about focusing on sales and not quality...in sales threads.

or complaining about focusing on frame rates and resolution in a technical thread

The AI wasn't particularly great though? It didn't live up to the AI behavior shown during TLoU's E3 presentation I believe?

The puzzles weren't great either.

The puzzles weren't amazing, but they were only a very minor part of the game. The (enemy) AI is some of the best in the business imo, though like any game they're still privy to stupidity on the rare occasion.

Now that you mention it though, Gamespot were factually wrong about DriveClub's AI too, claiming the AI above all else rigidly follows the race line, which simply is not true. I have personally experimented and tested as much, and have hundreds of hours in to the game. There's even video evidence online to the contrary.

There weren't any puzzles in TLOU. There were a few "how do I climb this/how do I get across this" sections. If the reviewer thought those were puzzles and marked the game down for being bad ones.... That's stupid.

The point is that neither one detracted from the game NEARLY enough to warrant a drop to 8/10. Puzzles weren't a focus of the game at all and for good reason. The AI was way better than most comparable games.

I dont even really consider any of the environmental object movements in that game as puzzles. So it seems like a weird complaint. Unless they just got tired of it.

Now, as far as Uncharted puzzles go, they are always super easy, time filler.

Like, you look at your little book, and just do it. It's only really there to pace the action. Which is okay I guess.

I really wish puzzles had their own difficulty level, and that they were genuine puzzles that had a logic/rule worth solving.

I would love to be stumped on a puzzle. But the "puzzles" in Uncharted were never like that.

I'm in here for the glorious meltdowns & the hilarious GIFs and Memes that ensue

The 100th time I've seen someone say this. You all are setting yourself for disappointment. I could see one person having a meltdown and then see everyone quoting that one dude saying stuff like OMG GAF HIVE MIND OVERREACTING

Guys, you're going to have plenty of reviews to nitpick over in 2 and a half hours. Let's not get caught up on an 8 from 3 years ago.

why wouldn't it be as bad as the uncharted 3 review thread?

I'm a miserable bastard.

I kind of want the game to get panned, not because I want the people looking forward to playing the game to be disappointed, but the ensuing thread would be hilarious and legendary.

I'm sure the game will be great and well reviewed.

Look at the sheer number of posts over the weeks from people who can't wait for or are genuinely anticipating or excited for meltdowns. I have no doubt what you're describing will be the case. More people quoting the rare meltdown than actual meltdowns.
