Uncharted 4 - A Thief's |Reviews Thread| Nateness Awaits

games which win a lot of GOTY tend to be those games that have a very traditional story telling device palatable to the western press. I cannot last remember a Japanese game that last received a lot of GOTY awards inspite of receiving universal acclaim. I bet FF15, Persona 5 etc will not get a bunch of GOTY awards even if they review extremely well.

the last time a Japanese game won the majority of GOTY awards from the media was...shit, Resident Evil 4 back in '05.

And lets be real, UC4 is exactly that Western narrative-driven accessible critically acclaimed game that sweeps GOTYs in consensus votes. Especially cuz its biggest competition Mass Effect aint even coming out this year.

Oh damn yeah forgot about RE4. That is a rare instance of a game that is soo fking good the western press decided to say screw the story and give it the GOTY

Also regarding the bolded I agree one hundred percet. UC4 perfectly fits that criteria. The good thing though unlike the Witcher 3, UC4's mechanics are sublime.

Still I wish the western press start diversifying their taste in AAA content more and similarly I hope the Japanse press start to diversify their tastes as well.

I wonder if TLG has a shot at winning GOTY from any of these big sites if it turns out to be a 90+ game considering the story telling will be very very different from a traditional western AAA game.

If P5 or TLG comes out this year, I say UC4 might have a competition. What other big games are coming out this year, beside the typical BF, COD...?

Looking back at a list of 2005 games, I'm not seeing many games that had their stories praised much. There was KOTOR2, but that was never going to win GOTY in the state that it shipped in.

RE4 had 2005 on lock.

I have a feeling that Deus Ex is going to be a GOTY challenger to Uncharted. There's just something about it that gives me a very, very good feeling that it's going to be phenomenal.

It seems with last generation Storytelling has taken more of a front seat than before

Deus Ex HR was one of the best games of last gen IMO and criminally underlooked. I hope Mankind Divided turns out to be an even bigger hit. It is my most anticipated game after TLG.

Anyone have a copy from Amazon that hasn't shipped yet? Mine always ship two days before (or on Saturday if it's a Tuesday release). My last two games didn't ship on time and got here days late.

So I asked why it hasn't shipped yet, and they're telling me that game pre orders don't ship until the day the game comes out. At what point did Amazon Prime stop doing guaranteed day one shipping?

I pre-ordered it in January of 2015 and my copy still hasn't shipped yet. :p

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck that

Yeah, seriously. Games are the entire reason I have Prime. The discount and guaranteed release date delivery. My last two games didn't arrive on release date, and they're trying to tell me that isn't how it works.

Did they stop doing this, or am I getting a shitty service rep?

The last few games me and my brother have gotten from Amazon shipped the day before release and got here on time, but we live close to an amazon warehouse im pretty sure so idk if its because of that or not... still, hope it ships soon so I don't have to worry about it

I would lol if this happens for me because they just gave me some credit to compensate for not shipping on time.

Generic name, I have a feeling you and I would be friends

Here's what support told me:
Titus: I've confirmed that the estimated delivery dates in your order confirmation e-mail and Your Account were incorrect. I'm sorry about that. You should expect your order to be delivered by May 10.
I hope he's not wrong here.

I've had games not ship(track at all) till the day before and still arrive on time. It would be interesting though if this somehow was a stock issue though. #delayingwasright #colinwaswrong #manufacturing

Just popping in to see if anyone had preloading going, am in the UK, any word from anyone?

Finland here

Started pre-loading the full 50 gigs first, I assume the 13gig thing is what you'd need to launch the game. Gotta wait another 47 hours though, obviously.

Sweet, still waiting here but will hopefully start soon :) They have charged me though :P

Game is very good so far. Looks fantastic, banter is amazing and it plays well. But I am using auto-aim, which is basically the same as in GTA V.

Story is more interesting than ever, and that easter egg everyone is talking about is pretty fucking cool. I definetely liked the slow pace at the beginning.

Anyone have links to actual ending spoilers? I ask cause I'm interested in just knowing what happens since I'm not actually planning on playing the game anytime remotely soon.

I've actively searched on google and youtube and can't find anything. =|

Anyone have issues preloading? I hit Download in the store on the PS4 and get "this product cannot be purchased at this time".

All this Amazon stuff sounds awful. Sorry bros.

I must admit I love being able to play Monday night, digital all the way.

Most the people here will get it here on launch day and have the superior benefit of actually owning a physical copy that won't disappear into oblivion in the future.

Well I noticed that Amazon was offering a free 30 day prime trial, so I took advantage of that and ordered the special edition with free 2 day shipping (they said order within 33 hours and select 2 day shipping to get it on day 1).

So I saved 10 dollars off the special edition as the base price was 80 dollars and I'm paying about 70 dollars.
