When will we actually know the result of who gets into government? Is that what they are counting down to in six hours? And which channel are you watching the eleksyon unfold? I'm watching it on CNN Philippines, as that's the one with the best signal where I am.

probably a few days from now, local results probably tomorrow

Really? Ugh then there's not much reason for me watching it unfold today.

I really feel like Duterte is gonna win it.

What wrong-doings have he even done? Besides supporting Roxas and Binay back in 2004, and using Death Squads to kill off criminals?

not really, unless you are keen on the local results, probably just partial results per precinct

just human rights violations

By tonight, 70% of the votes should be transmitted, so we might have an idea of who will win.

However, with the elections being tight and all, anything can still change. Another thing is that if most of the 70% votes transmitted tonight will come from Mindanao, it might appear that Duterte will win with a landslide.

According to my insiders working on the different camps, he will not. He might still win this, but by at most 2M votes.

--EDIT: Also worth mentioning that votes will probably be transmitted after 5 pm only. So it's not worth following the news now if you're waiting for results. Check back around 6-7 ish.

Seems like I can't get a set top box to bring with me back to Denmark. But this was the case and even popular to do a decade ago. So it seems I'll only be able to watch Filipino TV when episodes are uploaded to their respective websites?

Ugh, the nearest post office is 21km away from my place. If anyone can help me out with Pia Wurtzbach stamps, I'll gladly pay for it in Southmall either today or tomorrow!

Everyone I know there is voting Duterte.

Edit, surprise surprise, the voting machines are malfunctioning, no-one could have predicted that :p

Our precinct has one vcm down. Officers suggest to put the votes in the box and they'll manually place them to the machine once a replacement arrives. First time it happened here. Guess it's not a coincidence lol.

Nobody have won yet though..

Also somebody gotta create a new thread when we have a new president elected.

If Duterte wins, I can't wait to see him clean up the mess.

4 million is too big with 50% counted and the lead is still growing, if this was a US election, this already has been called

anyways Congress won't have a session until a few weeks from now and that is the time they will declare the official winner I guess

It's time to call Duterte the new president of the Philippines. Lead is too large for others to catch up at this point.

The interesting fight right now is for VP. The race is so close between Marcos and Robredo, with less than a million separating the two.

Even if I already expected it, it hurts to see Miriam at the last place even when she is the most qualified president. Ugh.

I voted for her. Her health issue really crippled her chances big time.

I think if Duterte didn't run, she would have a much better chance of winning. I still would preferred if she ran for a VP seat.

Wait I hadn't seen the latest numbers. Duterte basically have double the amount of votes from the nearest rival now. I'm really surprised at how few votes Miriam Santiago have gotten so far. Even with her sickness.

I hope Bongbong Marcos wins. He have done great with the healthcare system in Ilocos and seems to have a good head on his shoulders.

I were more surprised that a nation-wide ban of liquor is rolling out. Why is that? Seems crazy to me.

Election-related violence is most likely the reason for that. Election tend to be festive and chaotic in the past and drunk people are part of the cause of problems.

People do stupid things when influenced by alcohol and at an election time when people are already getting killed there is no need to make it worse with alcohol

Funfact: The time I got in the school (not the precinct) is 11:58 AM. I got out of the precinct at 12:08 PM. That was really fast compared to other voting related stories.

My friend is back in the Philippines and she is cheering on this DU30 guy. I have no clue about Philippines politics and don't want to make a conversation awkward by asking, but...

What is he on the political spectrum?

EDIT - lol wtf, just watched that John Oliver video.

He promised to eradicate drugs and criminals in 6 months. People like him.

With 60% counted and ~4.5 million ahead, I think you can call it

barring a huge upset

"lol wtf" indeed. Woke up a bit ago and said "Oh, I've got to see what is going on in the PI. I know they won't call it today but there should be some indication online of how things are going." What a terrible feeling...
I guess now I just have to be hopeful that BongBong doesn't get the VP spot.

Me too man. Hope Leni wins.

Wait, so it is only during election time that liquor and guns are banned? I thought it was to be permanent.

Why is it that people here don't want Bongbong? My impression is that he has done really well in Ilocos Norte.

Pacquiao at top 9, Tito Sotto in the top 3 of the senate seat.

Senator Paquiao...... Jesus fucking Christ

We are really in the darkest timeline.

All BBM needs to do, is to say sorry for martial law (he's whitewashing it btw) and return the money they stole. That's it. Only then will I support him. Btw Binay has done really well in makati also.

That's pretty fucked up to say the least. Not that I didn't know this already, but John Oliver talking about it really solidifies it for me.

And this dude's leading the polls. God damn.

It's over man. Durerte won. Too little too late. Leni still has a chance though.

Guns are banned during the new years though. And you don't want to piss off a lot of people by banning booze permanently lol.

Bongbong is the remnant of the old Marcos regime. While he was not directly involved in that as he was probably just reaching puberty by that time lol, he and his family benefited a lot from the political power and supposed to be ill-gotten wealth that the ones who suffered from martial law still can't stand it. The fact that there was no acknowledgement of the fault of former president Marcos from his family just makes people hard to forget and forgive.

On the other side though, Marcos family is no doubt well-loved by the Ilocanos still. They never felt the bad effects of martial law and I believed they got treated well there so it's understandable why they still hold a huge political power up north.

BBM only has around 50k+ lead over Robredo. Which is a surprise seeing that BBM had a huge lead a few hours ago. This is from the 2 am count.
