I usually post my thoughts after every couple of episodes any way. I wonder what happens. Just what the hell is Ranka any way? Her seemingly resonating with that Vajra queen alien thing leads me to believe she's not exactly human. And what the hell is that green blob thing that follows her around? And what was the deal with Sheryl's assistant? She went all cyborg and destroyed half a planet. Are there more of her or is Sheryl going to wonder why her assistant is gone. Luca's probably going to die since he has the hots for Nanase.
 
I really liked the dog fight this episode with the Walkure members being projected on the asteroids.

High hopes for whatever Macross game is to come. Artdinkpls.
 
Ep 17. What the fuck at ma boy Ozma surviving!? I spent the entire episode waiting for him to die and he rolls through bleeding out like a fucking champ! He's even back with not Misa Hayase but totally Misa Hayase. He even got to enjoy his pineapple cake.. Can't believe they're trying to turn Ranka into an anti Vajra WMD though. What a show though. Delta really has a lot to live up to. So if I enjoy Frontier I can enjoy M7?

Ep 16 was crazy. Alto had two idols singing for his ass, probably got cranky cause of the blue balls he got. This love triangle is making me as annoyed as I was during sdf Macross. I mean just hook up with Sheryl already bruh! And what are they even doing to Sheryl? Seems like they're trying to kill her.

M7 is much, *MUCH* crazier.
Also, it's arguably longer than it needs to be, and a different style of music - I'd suggest you look for a song called Totsugeki Planet Explosion on youtube to see if you like Fire Bomber's style.

It's not the Jpop of Sheryl and Ranka-chan, but that was actually a good song. I was born in the 80's so I'm far from turned off from 80's music. So is Delta pretty much just a female led version of M7 then? Cause Frontier and Delta are two totally different shows tonally as far as what I've seen so far. Still can't believe Hayate seems like a better pilot than Mirage though.

I'd say M7 is closer to Delta, but Delta is so far slightly more sensible. Fun fact: All the "Listen to my song!" from Frontier is an M7 reference, that's the main character's catchphrase.

Wow...Delta is more toned down than M7...that's scary. I think I should be able to survive though. I had a feeling "listen to my song" was from M7. Too bad Minmay couldn't pass anything down outside of "My Boyfriend is a Pilot," but whatever I'll be fine. I'll just have to get used to Nekki Basara though. Dude sounds like a handful. Is it safe to assume Frontier has the best idols? Like flesh and blood idols to rule out Sharon Apple.

Yeah Sheryl is way way better than Minmei. I eventually found her choices immature and annoying, but Sheryl on the other hand has a much better head on her shoulders. She's strong yet emotional and has a nice playful side too. Seductive as hell too.

Ozma's just lucky Macross Frontier has better science than SDF 1 science. Frontier has that Nazi science...by comparison. Why exactly do people hate Frontier again? I'm almost done with it and it's probably the best anime I've seen this year.

On the issue of M7: Yeah it's definitely crazy but it also has alot of stuff going for it. Watch it. Stick with it.

I'm pretty sure it's just mainly me watching Frontier and don't worry I fully intend to watch M7 after this and yes I'll be listening to Basara's song.
 
OMG somebody just tried to sell Alto a fucking dress. I'm really starting to feel sorry for Sheryl. They cast her aside for Ranka like she was 3 month old yogurt.

Macross Frontier - d-Shudisuta-b box from 2014 that contains both Macross Frontier films on Blu-ray with English subtitles, two really nice artbooks, umaibo alternate cover and a PS3 disc. Only this release has English subtitles. The individual releases of both films from December 2015 do not have English subtitles.

The set goes for 5000-6000 yen second hand, so it's kinda cheap, but shipping will cost about 5000 yen because it weighs over 2 kilograms.
 
Frontier is destroying me, this love triangle. Sheryl Emma Sheen smacked Ranka. Of course Ranka's animal friend was a Vajra larvae and of course someone else dies for Ozma's sins, that was just god damn sad and brutal at the end of ep 20...ugh. if Sheryl dies I'm breaking something. It's clear somebody is going to be hurt no matter who Alto picks, if he even picks anybody that is.

Eh I've liked pretty much everything Macross but was really meh about 7. It frankly was too drawn out, could have been half as long, and the action was really really bad. Almost every battle involved more and more recycled animation, and some of the songs bordered on Robotech levels of overplayed. The plot was also extra bat shit by even Macross silly standards. Think it could have been a decent 26 ep show probably.
 
Now now we cannot automatically assume and pressure Shouta, he is a busy man.

More shit happened and better paced in 6 episodes of Delta than 17 episodes of Frontier.

Frontier Movie has better music but Delta is better overall so far and is more interesting in my opinion.

The Valkyrie vs Valkyrie fights are going to be a focus and it is closer to Macross 7 in tone but with better action, cooler fights, and a fucking break dancing Valkyrie.

I actually like Frontier a lot more than Delta. Granted I'm marathoning the shit out of Frontier cause it's actually done and I'll probably be done with it by Friday. I like the characters more, I like the animation more and I feel the music is way way better arranged.

Frontier Movie has better music but Delta is better overall so far and is more interesting in my opinion.

The Valkyrie vs Valkyrie fights are going to be a focus and it is closer to Macross 7 in tone but with better action, cooler fights, and a fucking break dancing Valkyrie.

I have to see M7 then. Pretty much Frontier is the first full on Macross series I've watched since SDF. I'm actually even fine with Delta. Just can't marathon it cause it's not finished and Frontier has the completely superior soundtrack, that's an unarguable fact compared to Delta. Delta has to work on the idol portrayal though. So far I don't exactly have a Delta waifu. There's just Freyja and that chick with purple hair. I like Mirage though, but she's not an idol.
 
Frontier is what got me into modern anime, so I'll always have a soft spot for it.

The thread title was fine for more than a month, I don't see why it had to be or should be changed. I don't think most of us had an issue with it, since the title itself was relevant to the series and topic at hand.

Anyways, does anyone have a replacement title? I would prefer that the title go back to what it was originally but that probably won't happen.

So suggest away, a new topic title that is.
