You're being too picky on exact species (and typing on Charizard). It's a general idea as a starting point for inspiration.

I'm not picky, also what you're doing is stretching definitions to fit the criteria, hence why I brought up Delphox and Typhlosion.

There's definitely going to be more islands, because if you compare those places with the gameplay shots we got, it really shows you how small it is. I think we will get ~6 islands, but this one will be the biggest one.

I think we gotta be. Region based on Hawaii, which has multiple islands. Perspective-wise with the characters, etc., there's not a lot of space on that island compared to a full region. Also, big boat in the harbor city in the bottom left.

In his defense, you are supposed to improve the designs.

Grimer, Muk, Voltorb, Electrode, Magnemite and Magneton were basically fillers from the 1st gen, and I'm sure we can find some others for 2nd gen.

This is a FIFTH gen pokemon.

And yeah, the starters have been mostly hit or miss from gen 3 until now, which all 3 are just plain bland.

Maybe if 70% of Chesnaught wasn't that horrible beige-like color and was something less bland then it'd be loved. It just was a massive disappointment for a lot of people when the chespin line had real potential for something... something else. :S

Still, i think we'll have a similar situation with litten ending up as obnoxious as delphox, rowlet going to hell and Popplio delivering the badassery.

How is it "embarrassingly" bad? I mean, yeah, it's a cat, but sometimes simplicity right away can be okay. Its hair sticks up when attacking (like a real cat would do when hissing) and the symbol on its face seems to match up with the symbol for brimstone/sulfur:

It's not my favorite design, but it's not embarrassingly bad.

I never understand why people just start hating on the first evolution starter, if first gen was revealed today, many would complain.That goes for 2, 3 gen as well.

I always choose the starter based on the final evolution, because while the owl is super cute, it might end up like a Mr. Mime, and that'd be horrifying!
