Pokémon Sun and Moon Starters Revealed. Releases November 18th 2016.

Rowlet is the best starter by far.

There's no way that Game Freak can turn any of these starters into a half fighting type this time.

Never forget.

Not sure if someone already said this, but how the fuck did they not choose a dolphin for the water starter?

There's still no dolphin Pokémon and Hawaii is known for its dolphins.

There are lots of different kinds of seals in real life too, although I'll admit their differences aren't as exciting as the ones you get in a Pokemon game.

I like that stuff. I want there to be multiple species of Pokemon who might sort of be part of the same clade, just like we've got in real life. We've got millions.
Exactly.

what zodiac thing?

Yeah, popular theory that the fire starters are all supposed to be based on the Chinese Zodiacs. It doesn't always match up completely, Fennekin is a fox but people put that one in the dog spot, but it's been way too close for me to consider that all a coincidence. I mean Litten fits again.

I love all these starters already. Can't wait to see them evolve.

If I had to pick just one right now though, Popplio would edge out Rowlet for me. But honestly, I want all three.

Maybe they just want to have a standard for the character in the beginning for the anime

Im with you, it is quite strange.
I think its for promotional purposes for the default designs, as Ash will be traveling with one of the MCs, and probably because children want to dive right into the game and not spend time customizing. Kids are so used to booting a game up and playing straight away thanks phone games, so perhaps GF took that into consideration

And I can understand that much, but still state that they could be doing this much better.

I mean, I hate to make this kind of comparison, but I think MonHun Stories (Capcom's attempt which seems to blend monster raising RPG with some MonHun tropes still in effect) did this the right way. Even from the first promo trailer, the "default" boy character was prominently displayed, with a default girl character following suit soon after. These are likely going to be the stars of the animated adaptation that will debut around the game's release, so kids already have someone to identify immediately.

But then at a recent MH fan event a nearly two months ago, they made sure it was known that the game still did have a pretty robust character creator. In short, the game is in a good place to cover both bases well enough.

So, that said...it still makes me shake my head that TPC puts out these "heartwarming" videos about how much PKMN brings people together around the world...but the ability to make an avatar that decently represents the player themselves requires jumping through hoops. And it's just like, c'mon, now...

Dolphin would have been a tricky animal to use as a starter unless it was given legs, which would be terrifying.

I'm sure there will be a dolphin pokemon at some point in the game. I can already picture them swimming alongside the boat as you travel from one island to the next.

Close enough for me too. Can't wait for the snake

I really hope so, I'd love a proper dolphin Pokémon. I want a whole shark too. And a koala, but that's for some other time.

A proper Dolphin that's Water/Psychic since dolphin are said to be super smart

Doesn't Pokemon company do these things in their own accord?

I always feel like they do what they want

I don't know honestly. I just find funny that most social media is full of people talking about Pokemon than Uncharted (at least for now)

This is the starting island, obviously. The area where you are welcomed to the island and given your pokemon is in the north part of the island. You also access the falls from the starting island. The route south of the starting town is probably the first route.

All of the islands of Hawaii are volcanoes, so there's gonna be a shitload of volcanoes. Diamond Head is an extinct volcano, hence people built buildings in the crater:

That's crazy, didn't even know what existed in Hawaii

I wouldn't be too surprised Popplio turned into a Water/Fighting walrus-esue Pokémon i.e. it being strong enough to carry X like the strong man circus performer stereotype but the clown/acrobatic motif seems more pronounced than its physical strength.
