It's supposed to be a porcupine. Thing is, until Gen 3 Pokemon had a really bad localizing group that you get shit like Shellfish Pokemon on a fucking Squirtle. It's why you get "Fire Mouse" on Cyndaquil as a literal translation even if it would actually mean something different.

Then again...you are normally some one, who one shots gyms (their no dialog stating that you are trying again if you do wipe on gyms), spent most of the game styling on them, saved the world..and by the end become the champion. You kinda are a celebrity lol

1.Held back against Mega Man (even if you won) in BN2 (post game)

2. first fight with him was unwinnable (BN3) until you finally get a win on him at the end of the story and in the post game area

3. Swiped alpha from Mega Man after he defeated Drill Man

4. Mega Man tried to use the Giga Freeze to stop him, but Bass ends up catching the program/attack with one hand. Seeing that Mega Man was capable of using something so powerful, decides to let him live until the end.

5. Absorbed Gospel (BN3, which ends up giving him amnesia), absorbed Dark Power from the Nebula area (BN5 DS), absorbed the power from the opposite version's Cybeast (BN6)

6. Dr. Cossak (his creator in the battle network series) attempted to sacrifice his life to stop Bass from helping Wily succeed at his plan (BN3), but bass ends up kicking him out of the net, sparing his life. It's implied that a tiny part of Bass still cares for Cossak

7. killed Regal by blowing up his submarine (in the manga)

Mega Man doesn't really seem hate him, but he knows damn well that he has to fight him no matter what. After BN3, bass just wants nothing more than to delete Mega Man. It helps that he was fleshed out in BN3, so he wasn't completely 2 dimensional.

I thought the change came around in DP though? Like it was how the whole Old Gateau localization idea. I remember reading it from an interview posted in /vp/ and SA I think.

Barry from the gen 4 was the last rival to have a full set of team that would grow with yours and that was nearly 10 years ago.

They really need to stop making the Rival so weak and carrying only 4 Pokémon, with them having a full team post game.
