Wtf? Beyond that, she's a decent actress. Watch newsroomThey never focused the camera on her too long but her body isn't lean/long enough and she looked like she was wearing a one piece bathing suit. And her acting is terrible and she just ends up looking dopey. At the end when she glared at the xmen and wandered off. just terrible. Very miscast. Maggie Q could have done this better.

Got back from X-Men: Apocalypse just now. Found it to be a really enjoyable film. I've loved the previous two films and X2, and I felt Apocalypse stacks up just a tad below them. Definitely not the disaster the critics and so many more have said it is. Far from it. Going to give a brief rundown as to what I liked and didn't.
+ Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy as Magneto and Charles Xavier, respectively. The two best actors in the X-Men films. They can easily act circles around 99 % of the cast, and that of MCU as well. They're that good.
+ None of the stupid humour you'll find in other Marvel films. The humour was there, but it wasn't of the cheap split-second Downey variety, which is a huge, huge plus these days.
+ Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse. While I would have liked a more direct adaptation from the 90's cartoons, he was still good here. Was a great feeling seeing the character finally on-screen after years and years of hoping.
+ Quicksilver, yet again
+ Some strong character moments.
+ Metallica's The Four Horsemen
- Some characters underutilized

Just got back from the cinema. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I look forward to the new team's future endeavors. I was really excited when Xavier called for Jean's help and the resulting sequence was pretty nice.
Just wondering certain things...
- Just a minor thing but how did Quicksilver know where to locate the cerebro basement?
- I was thinking that if getting Xavier's body was so important, why did Apocalypse not postpone Magneto's mission to wreck catastrophe till the transfer was completed? Wouldn't the chance of completing the transfer be a lot higher under the protection of the most power horseman?
- Apocalypse's treatment of Quicksilver is really OOC, even though everyone knows Quicksilver has plot armor.
Regarding the next sequel, I wonder how are they going to top Apocalypse's threat level? TBH when Moira Mactaggert's son was mentioned I was hoping that they feature Proteus as a future villain.

Also, someone fill me in on this. When Wolverine was recovered at the end of the last film, wasn't it Mystique posing as Stryker? What happened there? They never addressed it in this one.
That's what we thought, but the writers have a bad memory so they probably thought it was the real Stryker who did it.
Hey, Mystique is a hero to mutants. Except that one time she posed as Stryker and a ducted Wolverine, and Stryker kept Wolverine and didn't think it was strange that he suddenly had a mutant he'd never caught in custody.

Seriously, they pretty much could have put anyone in her spot as a horsemen. I like how she did all that katana training and she didn't even get to use it lol. She used a psi whip more than she used her blade.
This movie was lacking so many things, I can't believe they didn't notice how bad it was while shooting. Going from BvS to Civil War to this is a huge eye opener. They really need to let anyone take over the directing role, I can't stand how Singer has destroyed this franchise.
There was no character development aside from maybe Jean and they still did a half ass job doing that, I didn't care at all for anyone in this film other than Magneto. They didn't ground this movie in the real world at all, I didn't see a single civilian anywhere aside from the opening in Egypt and during Magnetos scenes, nor did I feel anything over this "Apocolypse".
They need to do another soft reboot that takes place in the 90s with everyone at the end but get rid of Jennifer Lawrence please. She doesn't do anything for me at all. If they do keep her make her a semi villain like she is supposed to be. Put it in the 90s with the real X-Men just starting out and make it about mutant racism and show how the real world hates these Muties after all that has happened while the X-Men still tires to save them unconditionally. Just please keep the new costumes at the end.

The world is falling apart. That's a real crisis. And they decide then to cameo Stan Lee looking hokey as fuck with aviators cuddling some old woman. I actually laughed out loud. They could have cameoed him in modern day egypt shopping or something but nope, put him in the only scenes in the movie with real people. And made it seem like a joke.
The film was just bad - "mr president scene" at the end; i mean, non of the humans did anything so I dont even know why they bothered to even have that and the guy looking relieved.
I really enjoyed DOFP but this just tanked. The quicksilver scene seemed to go on for too long (the 1 joke of people frozen, with funny faces etc repeated 3-4 times, and once with a dog (I did really enjoyed it too) but it seemed to play off the strength of the last movie's quicksilver scene and played to cute 80's sweet dreams soundtrack; cheesing the shit out of it. Fun though.
The funniest thing about this movie is the jubilee (?) line where she goes "we all know the worst movie is the third one" -a dig at Ratner's film but this is quite terrible also and the worst of the 3 prequels.
Add: If Apocalypse is going to wipe out the world anyhow, why not cause all the nukes to explode or something. Very peculiar scene with all the nukes being kicked to space. I doubt mutants will survive the visions jean saw with the world burning up.

The term "soft reboot" is so nebulous at this point (it's almost pure marketing) that essentially, all it really means is "a sequel that doesn't really talk about what happened prior." First Class was considered as such for awhile, and then Days of Future Past was also considered as much due to its ending, even though neither of them probably should have been considered as such.
I don't make up the marketing terminologies! I just surrender to them frustratedly.

Nah, the destruction scenes made sure to include little digital humans getting sucked up along with the rest of the buildings/debris.
My thoughts as well. Magneto's arc doesn't really make sense.
Also, since the next movie will take place in the 90's, will it be the last of the prequels? The next movie should more or less lead into the original X-Men trilogy, unless they really want to wipe out the entire thing clean.

Someone in the OT pointed out how weird it was that Magneto's storyline pretty much begins with him losing his family, and Quicksilver's entrance into the movie is focused solely on him connecting with Magneto.
And the film ends with nothing on that front having gone anywhere at all. Neither of their stories lead to any sort of resolution. Quicksilver actually retreats from it when presented with the opportunity - TWICE.

There seems to be a misunderstanding of the sequence. It's not terrifying, it's supposed to be beautiful. It's 1983, and someone managed to take over every single nuclear warhead in the world and is sending them all into space to dispose of them safely. How is that terrifying?
