I wonder what kind of backlash there will be if the conference ends up being just ''ok''.

Last year PSX I thought was very good and I was shocked to see the amount of lukewarm or negative reception to the conference. Event that is not E3 and yet still had:

-Uncharted 4 new footage
-Final Fantasy 7 R first in-game trailer
-Full Throttle
-Nioh announcement trailer for west
-Ratchet trailer
-Ace Combat 7
-Yakuza 0
-Ni No Kuni 2

And bunch of other games. Sure, there were some pacing issues, awkward VR demoing and I wouldn't have ended on Paragon CGI trailer when there was a gameplay trailer they had anyway. But I thought it was easily better than many E3 conferences from the big 3 I have seen. I can't imagine what the reception for E3 2016 will be if it's as ''bad'' as this.
Seriously. PSX was great. People just wanna whine regardless.

so this pretty much means the game wont be delayed into 2017 correct?

I hope so. Maybe they will slap the release date on it after E3

Last year was amazing all 4 Press.

It was a pity Sony couldn't bring Kojima to PSX cause it'd create that megaton people wanted.

Anyway, I hope Sony continues with PSX.

But then zoetis came in and chaos ensued, so I'm going to wait until official confirmation.

He really didn't say anything to refute Shinobi's claim, though? And is he credible like Shinobi? Obviously we'll wait and see but I'm not sure I've ever seen Shinobi stick his neck out and then be wrong.

That "goodbye" chain was really funny, and I didn't expect my post to get so many replies
I don't know why, but I feel previous years there was more buzz or leaks of exciting games.
Funny thing is people say this every year.
It's been so long since Verendus hinted at it. I fear it may well have been quietly cancelled at some point. We don't really hear about stuff like that with Japanese studios like we do with western studios like SSM.
Verendus mentioned it in Sept 2015 (which is honestly not that long ago) saying it would not be revealed at a show like TGS as they are targeting the worldwide market with that JRPG. He also mentioned after last E3 that he doesn't need to talk about that AAA JRPG, as we'll be seeing it soon enough so there's a good chance of it showing up this E3, especially after Gopher's poem.
If Verendus' hint is any true, then the game won't be release anytime soon. I expected it to be at the end of PS4's cycle.
Verendus said that JRPG3 was in pre-production, and JRPG4 and 5 are likely late gen titles. JRPG2 (the AAA, FF-like RPG) seems like it could release as early as next year just based off what Verendus has said about it.

Would an E3 marketing poster have a release year on even if it was 2016? Black Ops 3 had one last year, but it didn't have a date, if I remember right anyway, but new IP vs. huge series and common knowledge that Black Ops 3 would come out in 2015 is a counterargument to that. Can't think of any other marketing posters, but I don't recall them usually having the release year on them.

PSX 2015 was fine, but 2014 was a lot better in pacing, and having first party content. Shawn Layden also fucked up expectations, by having that Crash shirt, and by going "if Uncharted 4 is what we're starting with, think of what else we're going to have." I thought the Crash shirt was fine, and it may have been an E3 tease if Crash really is happening, but hyping up the rest of the conference might not have been the best idea. Also no Shuhei is just wrong, and it felt like something was missing, the way it ended felt weird, but that might have been part of the pacing problems. At the end of the day though, I think it's the pacing that hurt it, and I don't think E3 will have a pacing problem.

My guesses for Sony's conference. Hope at least some of these happen :).

-Crash Returns is announced. Sony either bought the IP back or went into an agreement after a great relationship between Sony & Activsion that has been building the past few years. Either Naughty Dog or Sanzaru Games develops the title.
-God of War IV is announced.
-GT Sport detailed further.
-Gravity Rush 2 gets new trailer and western release date.
-PS Neo/PS4K gets introduced and promise of more information later in the year.
-Rockstar Game's 'big' title announced on Sony's stage.
-Destiny Expansion announced.
-Call of Duty gets shown off with new trailer and some exclusive stuff.
-Square Enix has new trailer for both KH3 and FFXV to show off at Sony's event.
-PS VR gets at least 10 minutes of coverage, with a full-out PS VR event announced for later in the year.
-Show has other announcements (stuff from Capcom, EA, 2K and the like).
-It closes with a teaser for Sucker Punch's Spider-Man game/New IP/Infamous Title.

To go off some posts in the last few pages, I don't think Dreams 2.0 implies that it'll top last year, just that the level of announcements (and how many) will make the fanbase happy to a considerable level.

The Holy Trinity covered a broad range of fans (with overlap ofcourse). Not everyone cared for all three but chances are, you at least cared for one announcement.

Similarly, something like Crash plus a host of smaller more directed announcements at specific fanbase (All-Stars by Capcom for example) would result in a fantastic follow up.

Don't think anything will ever beat 2015 in a title for title bout given that HL3 is the only game that could be put up there and that's not happening.

Nice list but this is way too early.

I hope, hope, hope that Horizon gets delayed.

I think its better both for the quality and sales of the title if it gets a less stacked month (preferably early 2017, Feb-Mar) release date given that it seems to fairly ambitious new IP.

I think they really would want for it to be a launch title for NEO. I guess GT Sport has to do.

What's your preferred method of execution?
It pains me to say this as a HUGE SOCOM fan.

Doesn't matter.... Just bury me in the Blizzard map.

Shame people called covering exits, entrances, vantage points, protecting VIP's, backing up your teammate... Camping...

I also loved the campaign... good missions and voice commanding your squad.

#bringbacksocom

I'll ask for a new socom every E3

2017 is fine.

Sony doesn't like to compete against the big hitters during the holidays. Understandably so.

It gives us big game releases during the generally slower months of Spring, so why not? It'll also result in a better product.

Yeah, I don't think this will be Dreams 2.0 in the sense that the announcements themselves will be topping the big three last year. I think it will be more that the combination of showings for previously announced titles and the announcements for new titles will put it on par with last year.

Give me an extensive Horizon showing, Crash announcement and 2-3 more first party reveals and I am set lol.

Didn't Gopher say "challenge accepted" in regards to this?

I feel it in my bones that Sony's one more thing moment is going to be The Last of Us 2.

New announcements in the vein of:

The Last of Us
Bloodborne 2
GOW
DMC5
Crash Bandicoot,

will indeed make this E3 year of dreams 2.0

Didn't Gopher say "challenge accepted" in regards to this?
Indeed. He did. I just don't see how that is possible though. Crash and Agent wouldn't even be enough to top that.

He could be saying it will be better because those same games from last year will be getting extensive showings so that will technically make it better than last year. I'd disagree with that but yeah.

I feel it in my bones that Sony's one more thing moment is going to be The Last of Us 2.
I'm losing my shit if it is. It doesn't matter if it gets leaked or not. TLoU2 getting announced is going to do me in regardless.

I think the wording was "live up to."

I'm not sure. That doesn't give me the impression of surpassing.

He's just realistic. No one expects Sony (or anyone else) to surpass their last conference. That said, I hope they manage to deliver a show which literally lives up to it. And to do that, they do need one or two unexpected announcements. A new Bandicoot or an Agent revival for example would qualify for that.

I guess the difference there is that TLoU2 would be something that Neil and Bruce would lead, and they've been busy with U4 and will soon be busy with the DLC.

Who's to say they didn't lay the foundation for TLoU2 when Amy was still there, and a small team within ND took the mantle while Neil and Bruce shifted their focus U4. Maybe even the game got new directors (Neil probably wrote the story a while back).

There's really no telling what's going on inside these studios so yeah, I don't a TLOU sequel announcement is out of the question for sometime soon.

Uncharted 4 credits has no "Special Thanks" to hint that there's a group of staff there who are not working on another game, unlike U3 or TLOU.

Maybe and hopefully a Final Fantasy XVI teaser.

Folks, this is the developer that managed to put and hide that massive Easter Egg in Uncharted 4. You can't really count anything out with Naughty Dog.

Anything is possible. I'm just not in the camp that believes they're working on TLoU2 right now. I think that team we know they have doing pre-production on another project is working on a new IP, and that will be their next game.

Goddamn it, you fools done it now. You got me hyped for The Last Of Us 2 although I know it won't be there. But on the slight chance that it will, oh, boy.
