Trump v. Bernie Debate

Honestly if I were ever going to vote for Trump it would end up being because of a portion of the people who support Hilliary. The condescending arrogance that comes from many of them does nothing positive for her in my view.

I don't like any of the clowns trying to run this circus though.
Reverse BernieBro-ism. They said it couldn't be done, but we did it.

That's an awful idea. Hillary (rightfully IMO) isn't doing the last debate with Bernie, you don't then go and attack someone as a coward for doing exactly what you did.
Ah yeah, that thing. Unfortunate timing. But I don't mean the Hillary campaign specifically, I also mean supporters of both Hillary and Bernie (diehards excluded) finding common ground.

So if I understand the series of events...

1. Bernard's camp floats the question of a debate to Kimmel's team to ask Trump.
2. Trump: Yeah I'd debate him, whatever. I guess for charity (winkyface).
3. Bernard immediately tweets: It's On Mothafucka!
4. Trump responds; Lul wat, it was a joke dude.
5. Bernard's camp: But but, you sure you don't want to, c'mon?
6. Trump: Dude you're 2nd place, you're done, bring me Hillary.

Bernard, youplayedyourself.gif
*slow clap*

Trump basically debated Bernard without actually debating him. Made him look foolish. Fucking mastermind. Trump is nothing if not immensely entertaining.

I mean...dear lord. Obama's eloquent speech at Hiroshima compared to this...

Right in the moment, I think it looks more like Trump is ducking it. Or at least that his mouth got him into a position he had to back out of even if no one seriously thought it could happen.

But it's all a wash and will be completely forgotten within 24 hours, if that. Just the 8,000th weird-ass thing to happen in this weird-ass cycle.

Bern made a fool of himself.

Imagine if this was the GE matchup.

If your just jumping to the assumption that I'm a supporter of Bernie your not helping your case. I knew from the beginning that Bernie wouldn't make it because the U.S on average is not going to elect a socialist. Considering the U.S instituted witch hunts against citizens representing a communist movement only a few decades ago it's not surprising that so many are still only interested in the two parties we currently have.

That being said I stand by my original statement in that I don't like any of the asshats who are currently running to govern our country because they all carry major flaws that disallow me from standing by any of them completely.

There's a difference between pandering and lying. You really don't see that, due to the venue, the hot sauce comment could have been seen as pandering? Come on, man, you're not being genuine here. On Black Twitter it was widely seen as pandering. It's not just me, or posters here.

Because he's polarizing? These aren't mutually-exclusive.

The hot sauce that she's been carrying for decades and decades?

That's some long game pandering lol

I can understand finding some Hillary supporters online pretty insufferable (just as many of them probably find some Bernie supporters online insufferable). But break down what you're saying here: you're willing to cast a vote for Donald Trump as President of the United States, with all of the absolute buffoon shit he has said and done and proposed as policy and doubled down, because you had the displeasure of reading things written by a couple jerks online?

C'mon man. Annoying people are annoying, but elections have consequences for millions and millions of people. If you vote for Trump, it should be because you legitimately believe he's the best person for the job, not because you want to spite a handful of strangers. Perspective and all.

And if electing a buffoon to be the most powerful person in the world for four years is not bad enough, it's the supreme court nominee that could lead to an even worse outcome. That decision is FOR LIFE.

I wonder how this move will play out for Bernie supporters who threaten to vote for Trump in the GE if Bernie doesn't get the nomination.

Do they see the "Crooked Hillary and DWS have rigged the system to steal the nomination away from Bernie" as a reason to go in the Trump camp? Or do they see the retreat from a debate as an offense to Bernie, which turns them off to him?

I think, given the increased public attention to black citizens killed by white police officers and the range of issues that that's connected to -- from gun control to Black Lives Matter to institutional racism -- then failing to reach out to the families of those victims is actually quite tone deaf.

I mean that was the only time he was particularly tone deaf for AAs, right?

Or you know when he called voters in S. Carolina not "smart enough to vote for him." How he failed to reign in his supporters after being confronted by BLM. Instead of community outreach he wheeled out Killer Mike the great speaker of black issues to talk to his people. Kept making his point of MLK marching with him expecting unconditional support.

At best he is tone deaf to the AA community.

Nailed it

That rich boxing promoter said 80% profit to charities of debaters choices, minimum of $20 million. The downside? Well as I said in another thread, he's angling for it to be on pay-per-view. Most of the remaining Sanders faithful probably can't afford it after giving their last $27 to the campaign.

Add this to that. https://youtu.be/KL8BpbWP7_8

Now, can someone point me to Bernie mud-slinging? And to some Hilary support of the African American community/lower class families?

Because, in my head, I have "Super Predators" (A while ago) and her turning away a young, black woman wearing a #BLM sign and asking her tough questions.(Recently)

If you need the videos, I got 'em.

Bernie supporters really need to stop summoning Marissa like a Pokemon to beat down anyone whose against Bernie to any degree considering how many death threats and MLK (more summoning) quotes they threw at her when she interrupted Bernie.

He released a partial return of a single year. She has released full returns spanning many years. The transcript is already a double standard to begin with but the equivalent to Sanders "release" would be to release a couple paragraphs of one speech.

On this issue, you are lacking critical information.
I'm not aware how its a double standard. Has he given private speeches to Goldman Sachs? Is that, and not allowing the public to have access to transcripts, something you wouldn't question of the person you want to be the President of The United States?

It isn't an equivalent exchange. I never asked for tax returns. Neither did Bernie, if I remember correctly. And, to be frank, and maybe childish, I asked first. I want the Goldman Sachs transcripts, as an America citizen who is taking part in choosing the next president, and the shell game of trying to divert my attention to tax returns isn't working for me.

I'm not really what you call 'patriotic', but I want the person that is going to run our nations highest office to have integrity, honesty. Maybe you're right.

There's been a definite shift in the Sanders campaign from early in the race to the last few months. It's been much more vitriolic. You don't see it?
I see it as his constituents being upset at the fact that, its over, and he is probably THE best candidate to run this country, as his primary focus is infrastructure, which is both his strength and his flaw. I want America to focus on America; how do we propose to meddle in foreign affairs, when we cannot fix ourselves? And yet, some countries depend on us. I don't have an answer for that one.

I wasnt aware she spoke when she was an active senator. Do you have a citation for that. I tired googling. As far as i know, she only spoke while not in any office.
I wanted to address this one the most, because I did say while she was an active Senator, and that is completely false. I don't want to make any excuses for it, because I was simply being lazy and did not do my proper due diligence, and for that I sincerely apologize. I will edit my statement as such, and will accept whatever punishment is necessary. Thank you for pointing this out to me so I will not make this mistake in the future.

Did Bernie's campaign actually ask Kimmel, or did you just create your own "Bernard" fanfiction?

It's been common knowledge that the question came from the Sanders camp.

The Vermont senator, who is trying to make a last stand in the final throes of the Democratic primary, on Wednesday planted a question with Jimmy Kimmel, asking the presumptive Republican nominee to debate him before the June 7 California primary.

Kimmel had the Trump campaign do the same thing. Trump got Kimmel to ask Sanders if he'd run third party

...I really do not understand why Donald Trump chickened out from a self-serving practical standpoint.

Sanders was hardly going to school him.
Yeah, it's really bizarre. It was really seeming like it was going to happen there for a moment especially since if there's one thing that pretty much everyone can agree on regarding Donald Trump it's that he loves the spotlight and media attention, and this would have given him exactly that.

The only way I can really make sense of it is that we've somehow crossed into the universe where Donald Trump of all people has more tact, decorum, and regard for the basic political process than Bernie Sanders does, and truly does understand more than Sanders that the winner of one party debating the loser of the other party's primary, and such a debate happening before the primary's even over and the people have all voted and made their voices heard, isn't a thing that happens or makes even the slightest lick of sense (I mean, it makes sense that Sanders would be a whole lot more desperate for attention than Trump at this point, since Sanders is a long-shot for his primary whereas Trump just finished locking up his, but still...). ...I can't believe I just typed that. Eww.

...Seriously, what is this primary....
