Quantum Break PC performance thread

Ok, so based on these Hardwarecanucks benchmarks results those ones at pclab.pl were with upscaling enabled.

And damn, a GTX 1080 cannot even reach 40fps average @1440p.

Well, sure, they've said that they are using "Ultra" preset which means that upscaling is on and some other options aren't maxed out either. You can make that out from the framerates as well as there's no way a 980Ti will hit 55 average in 1080p with upscaling off here.

What's the word on this?

I know the latest patch worked well for AMD but did nothing for 970s.

Any change since then?

Hopefully I'll be able to play this on my 1080 with decent IQ/Performence.

Does the live action stuff still stutter on PC too?

This game was amazing on XBO, and it's sad to see the shape of the PC version, which was what I originally intended to play this on.

What a sad mess, can barely manage 60fps with upscaling on with everything on medium. The live action stuff stutters like crazy too, I really wanna like the game but it spits in my face at every corner. 970 i7 6700 16gb ram here, the 30fps cap doesn't even feel like 30 to me, feels like 25~. I'm gonna just sit here and pray for a patch because having a top end gpu like this fail with the game really saddens me, just such a poor showing from remedy.

Is it possible to get the game playable and looking good with a GTX 970? Or should 970 owners just avoid this one.

I played it at 1080p30 without up-scaling on an overclocked 970. I would say 60fps isn't really possible at this time on a 970 no matter the settings. G-Sync would probably help a lot but it's not supported yet. I also recommend 16GB RAM and a recent i5 at least for the CPU. People with the 2500k have reported problems. It's a shame it doesn't look like the next patch will address performance at all. It's clear that many systems, even high end ones will simply never run the game well/properly.

I wonder if overclocked 1080 will allow to play QB on all setting maxed out in 1080p without upscaling at a locked 60fps without drops. I fear it will not, which would be a testament to how badly this game is (un)optimized on PC.

Tbh from what I've seen no, it will not. But there's still the 1080 Ti or "Big Pascal" GP100 which pretty probably can do that if not more but we'll have to wait for it a while longer.

Well, judging from Hardware Canucks bench of 1080 @ Ultra in 2560x1440 it should hit just below 60 average in 1080p at stock clocks on the same settings but you have to remember that "Ultra" isn't actually max settings here and average 60 doesn't mean that it's locked at 60. So probably no unless we're talking about some extreme overclock (~2.5GHz).

Is remedy still working on patches? I have the game but waiting on the 1080 first.

The latest patch went to certification process in the beginning of the week and Remedy expects it to be released by the end of next week if it passes. Don´t know if it will include any performance optimizations though.

They confimed on twitter it will not.

Yes, that's why I wrote "maxed out", not "ultra". And what's the point of having "ultra" preset which does not have all options set to their highest? That misleading.

Launched game on Friday. No continue game option? Thought the saves were cloud based. Quit game. went out of town on Saturday and Sunday. Tried last night, game boots with first image of the faces and after that it just sits on a white screen. The only thing that happened to my pc last week was windows 10 insider preview build updates. There was a major update last week too as well. Anyone else have this issue?

Just checked, save is still there from when I played it a few weeks ago. I'm on Win10 Stable though.

Hoping to get the patch out by the end of this week. It mostly contains fixes.

I know you won't show the patchnote yet, but at least will it contain G-Sync support?
Update 3 with Gsync / FreeSync support on its way

"Close meaning within the next two weeks, hopefully sooner."
Yep

I have a 980 and i5-4690k.

I can play the game at a locked 30FPS with mostly high settings at 1440p. It plays much, MUCH better than the Xbone version because that SKU has some of the worst impact lag I've ever experienced outside of the UC2 launch. The game looks genuinely incredible at points but man, what a flustercuck.

Ouch. Wonder if the Window store is slowing things down again. RIse of the Tomb Raider patches were always slower there than on Steam unfortunately.

Thought I'd share my impressions now that I finally got around to playing a bit of it.

I have a Core i5-3570T, GTX 960 (4 GB), 8 GB RAM and a SSD. Settings are 1920x1080, everything on middle, upscaling enabled, 30fps lock enabled and film grain disabled. I didn't check the framerate with any tools but it's smooth as far as I'm concerned, except for one noticeable dip when you enter the time machine room with Serene for the first time.

To my (positive) surprise, my 6 MBit/s internet connection is actually able to stream the TV episodes and doesn't have to buffer constantly like I initially expected. For some reason, though, the episodes aren't quite smooth all the time. Feels like they were filmed at 24fps and are being played back at 30fps or something. Bit jarring but I'll survive.

Nice. Now to get the Windows Store app to fetch the update lol

This exactly, something strange is going on with the store on my PC. When I check the store for updates it just hangs there and doesn't complete the update check. Loading circle just keeps spinning for all eternity...

The Windows Store still has issues and it's beyond frustrating for everyone involved. The seemed to have fixed a lot of it with the Anniversary Update, but it's embarrassing that it's still in this state. Windows 8 launched in 2012, they should've gathered more than enough experience by now.
