Street Fighter V - Ibuki reveal

Capcom said:
That’s it for today, but we have a lot of exciting news coming very soon! June is going to be a huge month for Street Fighter V, with the highly-anticipated Story Expansion and more surprises planned, so stay tuned and be sure to follow us @StreetFighter on Twitter for the latest updates!
It can be interpreted like Ibuki is releasing on June and not May...

Which still boggles my mind. If it's something related to how Sony & Valve operate their online communities, then I'd somewhat understand. But it's still weird how your CFN doesn't carry over between platforms.

EDIT: Btw, I'd really love to know Capcom's meaning of the word "surprise".

June didn't originally have a character release planned so I wouldn't be surprised at all if Ibuki got pushed to June. The release schedule would still be on track.

Why does she have a school girl outfit ?

Because she is a school girl. She has been a schoolgirl in Third Strike and he school girl outfit was shown in her win pose as well as her cutscenes. Hell she wore it in the SFV cutscenes and we know from Guile the cutscenes designs are their main costume. The fact that people ae surprised by this is what shocks me. I think the school outfit is fine with a mix of the ninja stuff fused with the schoolgirl outfit. Sakura also isn't in this game so it's not as if we a bombarded with schoolgirls. This is all coming off from someone who is not a fan of schoolgirl outfit.

Probably announcements at Evo.

They talked of "surprises" in June, not July.

But "surprises" means nothing in regards to SFV when we consider its current state, the details they already planned for it, what still isn't available, and the fact that an Ibuki reveal trailer was a "surprise."

Right. They just decided not to remix one of her old themes and made a new one that sounds like the most iconic song from one of the most popular anime in the world from the last 16 years by accident.

That's probably the stage theme (Japan stage, cherry blossoms). Her character theme will probably be a remix.

The surprise will be Capcom actually using common sense and implementing some stuff we expected at launch :P
Man, I haven't been playing as much and I'm afraid my Nash is not as good anymore, I need to start playing again but there are too many games coming out and so little time :(

Have you ever heard someone say all punk rock sounds the same because it uses the same four chords and the same instruments?

That's what you're doing right now. The music isn't actually as similar as you think it is, you just have limited enough experience with the type of music that everything performed with the same instruments and tempo is going to sound the same to you.

Or could not be in the game at all. Alex's trailer included music not in the game (like all the character trailers but Guile's). I do like the song so I hope you're right.

They could have done anything for the music in that trailer, but chose to do that. You really think it's a coincidence that they used the same instruments and tempo as in The Rising Fighting Spirit in a trailer for a Ninja character doing a bunch of Ninja things that Naruto also does, BUT DID NOT INVENT?

No, I don't think it's a coincidence.

I think they're drawing from a shared pool of inspiration. As I said, the ninja tropes you seem to associate with Naruto have been around for hundreds of years. They aren't even an important part of Naruto; they stop doing most of them before they even hit Shippuden. Naruto included them for the same reason Capcom included them with Ibuki: because they are iconic ninja tropes in Japanese culture.

I do think her Critical Art is an intentional homage to Naruto. I think everything else is a freaking rubber-stamp for "tropey ninja" that you could see in a dozen anime and a few hundred Japanese traditional theatre performances before Naruto ever existed, and the weird insistence you have that it must be solely and distinctly because of Naruto is entirely irksome.

Naruto is the most famous ninja-related media, so people are going to associate unrelated ninja characters with Naruto no matter what. I remember people saying "OMG NARUTO!" when Greninja was revealed for Smash Bros. as well.

"Forehead protector? I don't need one of those... Maybe you should stop watching anime..." - Ibuki's win quote to Lili in SxT

Capcom ain't stupid, they KNOW what they're doing in these streets lol.

You say you don't think it's a coincidence and then explain why you think it's a coincidence.

Geninja is really more like Strider.

Naruto didn't invent forehead protectors. Why are you saying Naruto invented forehead protectors?

So it's not just one bomb, she can throw multiple as long as the gauge is active. Throw in the 3 different timings, and wheww. Alot of potential there. He says that you can set them off in other ways too (a kunai?).

I wonder if that theme will even be in the game most of the trailers have songs that are just royalty free or bought tracks. She may have remix of her new generation theme hopefully.

I like Kanzuki estate but Ibukis stage just being a day version is super lame and boring. At least bring her 3rd Strike one back. It's simple enough.

Yep. Tbh it just seems like people don't want it to be connected to Naruto more than anything, it's obvious. It being a reference to Naruto isn't a negative, it's a positive and adds more to the character as a whole.

Hell, people should want it referenced to Naruto. It's not like this game was getting casuals anyway lol.

What money?!?!

Fuckers cannot deploy the real money store.

Also her V-Trigger is 3 bars but can be used multiple times?

Multiple bombs can be thrown or maybe only one allowed on the screen?

Do note that she has a timer bar for her V-trigger.

I assume the bar depletes a little every time you use a bomb. Or maybe not! but spamming bombs may not be the best idea.

I'm liking her new costume more and more.
I actually feel like her new costume has more of a "street fighter" look than the original(which I still love). It feels more like they took a traditional outfit and made it into a battling suit, similar to Chun and her spiked bracelets or Vega with a mask and claw. I know everyone doesn't follow that, but I find it more in line with the theme than her SF3/4 get up.
