I thought it was common knowledge that gotenks couldve destroyed fat buu? It was only when he went super buu on gotenks that he was out matched. Or is this one of those things where that was filler?

Gotenks would have wrecked Fat Buu if he actually tried and went SSJ3, but he screwed around got smacked.
exactly. Gotenks was toying with him. he was going through his combo list, trying out skills on him. Gotenks was beast af.

ONLY BECAUSE TRUNKS was apart of the fusion. Not because of Goten. Just had to get that out there in case anyone was confused on where that power came from. >:3

To be fair, Gotenks has virtually no Goten in him. It was just Trunks controlling that fusion. Trunks' personality is too dominant compared to Goten.
And he was toying with Buu, when he got bored he was about to finish him off with Goku's plan against kid buu.
Except they ran out of time. (Goku didn't have enough time either, ironically)

Eh, Mai and Trunks didn't become a couple in Super like they did in the movies, so I doubt it. Sure, they could make them a couple later, but why remove it from BoG and RF arcs, if you're going to end up doing it anyway?
Because they had no idea what Toriyama would do with the Trunks arc back when they were writing episode 4.
They completely ignore any of the Pilaf gang parts from Toriyama (them stating they wished "to be young again" backfiring, them mistaking goten for goku, the hold up, mai and trunks...)
Everything that made them funny was ignored and instead we get those awful gags. Yay.
I kinda want Trunks and Mai to be a thing just to fuck with Toei.

It should be noted that Goku learned the Metamoran Fusion Dance in the afterlife. That is, dead Metamorans taught him the technique. In the afterlife. If it was a useful technique maybe they wouldn't have died in the first place

I always chalked that up to Goten and Trunks being more talented but ultimately having less potential. Unlike the two younger boys, Gohan tends to need guidance/help in his training whereas Goten and Trunks pick things up really, really well on their own. However, I do think Gohan's ceiling/potential is higher which isn't a bad thing, Gohan's potential is greater then most characters in the entire series.

Their circumstances are vastly different though. Gohan had faced battle after battle, threat after threat throughout his entire childhood. Very strong opponents. He was forced to learn how to survive on his own at age what, 5? Then fought against foes on Namek and got power boosted several times over. Training for 3 years with piccilo and Goku prior to going into the HTC with Goku to become super saiyan and beyond.
Whom has Gotek / Trunks had to face? Themselves? What training have they really had? That little bit of fusion training to try going up against Buu?
Comparing Goten/Trunks against Gohan at this age is pretty unfair. Not even close to the same circumstances. Neither of them have shown the capability to grow 1000x stronger via an explosion of anger either ala Gohan
True I forgot about this. He essentially chickened out twice from passing the legacy to the younger generation. I never really entertained the idea of Goten and Trunks as the lead over Gohan, but I think it could have worked really well. Gohan could have been a mentor and Vegeta/Goku could still have crazy adventures while dead. Exploring the multiverse actually makes more sense continuing from a plot like that than now.

Like SSJ Goten + SSJ Trunks --> SSJ2 Gotenks
Where SSJ2 would essentially be Gotenks's "base" form which trains to unlock SSJ3
Thus when they get stronger and fuse again, SSJ2 Goten + SSJ2 Trunks --> SSJ4 Gotenks, and then SSJ4 Gotenks goes "Super Saiyan" into stage 5
That way we could quickly jump past 4~

Btw, was anybody else so pleasantly surprised by the nice reference to the Saiyan Saga in the latest manga chapter? Still one of the best finishing moves in the series.

It was one panel in a 30 page manga. Come on guys. Also I like how cabba looks in the manga more than the anime. Has a lot more style.

In the Super manga, it's not actual tracing. The lines don't match, even though the poses and angle are roughly the same. He did use tracing in his AF doujin though.
I wonder if we might get some convoluted situation/plothole where Future Trunks was dating a Future Mai who somehow had wished for youth like her present self, even though Piccolo dies too early for that to work right timeline-wise in Trunks' future.

Maybe they had wished for youth before the Android saga. Hell, maybe they were babies during Buu and only now they reached an age where they can actually walk around and do stuff.
It's not like the Pilaf gang appears much in DBZ around that time.
