I'm planning on upgrading my current system:
CPU: AMD FX-6100 Black Edition.
RAM: G.Skill Sniper DDR3 2x4GB @ 1600MHz.
Motherboard: MSI 970A-G46.
GPU: SAPPHIRE R9 270X Dual-X.
PSU: Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus 500W (RS-500-PCAR).
Case: Lost the box a while ago, but apparently it's a Codegen Briza, just like this one (without those handles).

Main Use: Gaming, I want to have the best experience possible in 1080p60 since I'm not planning on upgrading the monitor in the near future.

I'm on a kinda tight budget, so I'm planning on getting the new parts over a few months, so the first thing I was thinking of buying is the GPU. Right now my choice would be a GTX 1070 since it seems like a great alternative to the GTX 980 (which was my choice before I heard about the GTX 10 series) and apparently it's not going to be very expensive, but I feel like I'm gonna get really bottlenecked, so now I'm wondering what to upgrade next, after the video card. Should I upgrade my processor to a better AMD FX model or should I try and switch to Intel (and probably to DDR4)? I'm going to stick to 1080p for a while, so maybe it's not bad to upgrade to a faster DDR3 and AM3+ processor...
Also, since I'm probably getting the video card in Europe, what online German stores would you recommend?

Just make sure when you upgrade CPU you don't have to go to DDR4. My upgrade required me to get DDR4.

Going for the 1070 instead of the 980 is the right move. More power and vram for less money is always a good idea.
I'd recommend changing your cpu. The fx 6100 is seriously outdated by today's Standart and often enough outperformed by an i3.

The build is fine, but how far in the future are we talking? With how frequently prices change (sales and whatnot) it's not really worth planning a build until you're a couple weeks away from ordering or sooner, imho.

My Noctua package dropped today and I couldn't be happier!
Replaced my exhaust fan and the two fans of my Noctua NH-D14 with NF-F12 2000 PWMs and case fans with NF-A14 2000 PWMs. Finally I can reliably regulate rpm of each fan <3
They also look nice and sound great (no grinding or whatever). Super happy with them, I'll set up a custom fan profile for everything tomorrow.
The 3pin fan controller I used did a decent job, but the supplied case fans are just trash compared to these. Couldn't regulate them as low as the Noctuas and they made awful sounds.

One thing I notice is that you are going MicroATX in a case that is an ATX case. Maybe you would want to go with something smaller...?
Or with an ATX board, you would probably have some more choices...How about something like an ASUS Z170-a...?
That's fantastic. PLEASE, PLEASE come back here and post some impressions and pics. This is one of the most interesting new case lines to come along in a while. I would love to hear what you think after building in it.
Cost is the only downside, since the performance won't be massively noticeable.
Remember the HDD random 4K read was 0.1MB/s. A mid range SSD hits 50MB/s random 4K read, so it was a humongous increase compared to going from SATA SSD to M2 SSD.
You're going to need an LGA 1151 board that supports DDR3, of which there aren't as many. Here's a budget one.

I can't really find any other motherboard with more than 8 USB ports.
EDIT: A couple of Gigabyte motherboards have 10-11 ports. But it seems that 8 is the norm.

so between these two which is more preferable, I'd imagine they are both pretty similar in what they can do. Or is there something else in the price range say give or take 30 dollars that is better?

This cases's whole deal is the GPU is mounted vertically and the case has one giant 140mm fan on the bottom pulling heat in. It uses the blower on most reference designs to suck the heat out of the top.
I'm moving my GPU to an external daughter case witha PCI riser cable since the new cards are too big and hot for this case. Which is gonna give me some interior room to play around with which wasn't there before. I'm thinking right now that I'm going to get an all in one cpu watercooler. So in addition to a shiny new GTX 1080 I can finally take my i7 3770k well past the 3.6ghz its been running at for the last three years.
My plan is to flip the giant fan over so its blowing out the bottom and I'll mount the radiator above it with one of the supplied 120mm fans on top pushing air through. Will likely require a teeny bit of custom mounting work but shouldnt be too crazy.

The whole monitor section needs reworking, but there is probably some stuff releasing soonish so it's on hold.
That actually seems about right cost wise for a high end gaming build. You have one of the most expensive cards on the market plus one of the more expensive monitors. Those alone add ~50% of the cost to the build.

Has anyone had experience with this Broadcom Wifi + Bluetooth card? Seems like you wouldn't need an ugly external antenna with them. But I wonder if I can install it on my Asus Z170.

You're right on the bulk of the cost. I think I'm going to shave down on some of the overkill stuff:
- No optical drive
- Cheaper memory
- Storage drive
- Mobo
If you want to cut costs here and there, those are definitely some suggestions. Others I would make include:
- Cheaper PSU. You can go bronze or gold rated and save another $30+ easily.
- Buy a Windows key from Reddit for $15-$25.

So, I'm a first time builder. Haven't even had a PC in years, I've stuck to my Macbook. I have a ~3500 budget, but I'd really like an Acer X34 Predator and a decent mouse and keyboard so that cuts it down to about ~2200ish.
I'd like to be able to comfortably play AAA games (Witcher 3, Fallout 4, etc.) in ultra settings on the X34, and also on my 4k Vizio M-55, preferably at manageable framerates. I also need this to be a workstation PCI'm a science student and I need a lot of power for crunching numbers, making multimedia projects, etc.
So, about the build. First off, I know 32gb is widely recognized as being stupidly unnecessary for gaming, but I put it in there for the workstation part, and to future-proof a bit. Similarly, I know most people don't think optical drives are valuable anymore. I'd still like to have it there as an option for me to buy physical games or to watch blurays.
Mainly I'm looking for feedback on my case, cooling, motherboard, and PSU. I'm still torn between the Fractal R5, the Cooler Master Pro 5, and the Enthoo Pro/Luxe. I want to maximize cooling performance, but also keep it as quiet as possible, and I don't know which one of those cases will best help me do that. I'm also super paranoid about cooling due to my being a first-time builder. That just seems like the part that can go most wrong to me. I don't think I'm going to be comfortable unless everything in the case is running 20º under spec. Hence the AIO cooler.
Also, the motherboard and PSU are both probably way overboard, but I built it planning on adding another 1080 after a while (or maybe immediately, depending on what people think I need). I also like some of the features like built-in ac wifi, enhanced sound, and one click overclocking on the motherboard. Honestly I have no idea if I would ever actually need a 1000 watt PSU, but I wanted to leave room for overclocking two graphics cards and a CPU, and everything else that I would put it in.
Last question, should I wait around and try and go for one of the new processors that were just announced (6900, etc.) or is the difference not really worth it? If I did that, would I have to change anything about the system besides the mobo?

So, I'm a first time builder. Haven't even had a PC in years, I've stuck to my Macbook. I have a ~3500 budget, but I'd really like an Acer X34 Predator and a decent mouse and keyboard so that cuts it down to about ~2200ish.

I went with kaspersky but Norton and trend Micro also seem to be good.

That power supply is overkill unless you'll be doing SLI some day. Your specs would have plenty of margin on a 650W supply.
