Sony E3 2016 Press Conference: June 13 at 6 PM PT/ 9PM ET

It is pretty much a given that I will be busy as hell during E3 every year. I will be driving an RV around upstate New York with the family and inlaws for the week.

Going to be really tough to catch up on all the news.

Really want to see what Dead Don't Ride is all about.

It's cool Sony is planning to give Dreams 2.0 but please don't make epic game announcements unless they are at least one year left for release. Starting to dislike that trend of announce games literally when they just got greenlighted. Let's just take a look at the trifecta from last year:

-The Last Guardian: Everyone is fearing it'll be delayed till 2017.
-FF7 Remake: Not even a release year has been given to it. I predict at the very very least a holiday 2017 for just Episode 1... Wich will probably be a 3 hour long game and will have to wait another 6 months for Episode 2 and so on.
-Shenmue 3: The same and this one seems we would have to wait at least 2 more years because this perfectly resembles the example I stated above about announcing games when they got greenlighted, even if this is funded through Kickstarter.

Yeah, it was last year too. HYPE!

I'm curious what new stuff they'll post to the blog before E3 for things that won't make the conference if they do it like last year.
Yep, interested to see what gets shown next week.

Well, TLG recently got reconfirmed for 2016. It doesn't matter what everyone else thinks.

And no, FF7R episode 1 will not be 3 hours long.....

As far as your general complaint, I get it. However, I want dreams and megatons and meltdowns for E3.

As current rumors go, it is a higher-tier PS4: resolution, graphics & CPU should see an upgrade. Every game starting in October will ship with a "base mode" (for standard PS4's) & a "Neo mode" (upgrades that'll only be seen on the Neo), but no game will separate the community, so everyone can play in the same pool no matter what. VR will benefit from these upgrades as well.

Thank you very much - this helps a lot.

Do we know the generally expected release window for the PS4K/Neo?

Sure they announced FF7R early but they showed gameplay 6 months later. My guess is the first part will be out next year anyhow to lineup with the original game's 20 year anniversary so a 2 year wait isn't all that bad.

No. People should stop spreading this.

TLG: It will come out this year.

FF7R: It was always going to come out in 2017 at the earliest since it's supposed to release on the original's 20th anniversary. These "episodes" are full on games (like FFXIII-2 and Lightning Returns), not short chunks ala Life is Strange or Resident Evil Revelations 2.

Yeah. You know since FFX-1 and FFX-2. Or FFXIII-1 and FFXIII-2 were all about 5-6 hour games.

Alright - if Odin Sphere Leifthrasir and my current White DS4 will work fine on the PS4K/Neo, I'll likely sell my current PS4 before E3 to minimize loss.

Thanks for the help.

fwiw if U4 and Odin are the only games you're interested in then I wouldn't consider upgrade worth it since U4 is the only one likely to get upgraded out of those two.

Since when is E3 limited to those games that will come out within a year of their announcement? The whole purpose of the show is to have a SHOW, for God's sake...

Wich will probably be a 3 hour long game

We should expect 12 to 15 episodes then...Yeah, it makes absolute sense.

Who is this everyone fearing it will be delayed? That is unlikely at this point.

3 hour game for episode of FF7? lol

Games not coming out for awhile after reveal is the norm, doesn't mean people can't be excited, not sure what point you are even making.

fwiw if U4 and Odin are the only games you're interested in then I wouldn't consider upgrade worth it since U4 is the only one likely to get upgraded out of those two.

I also plan on getting Persona 5 and possibly other exclusives down the line. (Namely Gravity Rush 2 and future Valkyria Chronicles/Revolution titles.)

Would an upgrade still not be worth it? (Those are the only exclusives off the top of my head I'd want, since my PC can run games at higher settings for everything that isn't exclusive/comes to PC)

"Year of Dreams 2.0" people overhyping themselves. I'm going to temper my enthusiasm. Hoping we get that rumored Spider-Man game and a release date for The Last Guardian / Horizon: Zero Dawn. That would be enough to make me happy.

Also hope they reveal the PS4K. Think they'll add any ports to the back of the chassis? I need USB ports on the back plus external HDD support. The Xbox One got that right...

Gravity Rush and U4 will probably get Neo upgrades since they're first party. 3rd party upgrades for stuff like Persona and Valkyria will be up those developers if they think the extra work is worth it.

F that. Go big or go home.

Screw that. Gimme all the announcements.

I can wait patiently for games.

TLG was confirmed as a 2016 game more than once this year, and good god, FFVIIR wont be that kind of 3h episodic game, I thought people understood that already

any chance we'll see more from Housemarque at E3? Specifically, their AAA project or their Eugene Jarvis project?

I dont think that project is a AAA game..

Gravity Rush and U4 will probably get Neo upgrades since they're first party. 3rd party upgrades for stuff like Persona and Valkyria will be up those developers if they think the extra work is worth it.

So knowing this, and assuming the updated PS4 pricing goes as follows...

  • PS4K/Neo: $399 US / $429 CDN
  • PS4 Classic: Lowered to $299 US / $359-379 CDN
Do you think I should sell my PS4 for $350 CDN and wait for a PS4K/Neo?

Agreed, not bad at all. Even more than normal since we got that gameplay update at PSX 6 months after the E3 reveal.

I thought so too. And yup, TLG was even reconfirmed for this year just recently in the new media blowout for the game.

Square Enix has gone on record saying FF7 will get multiple full games similar to the FFXIII trilogy. Whether that pans out or not is up in the air, but that's the plan.

You could.

Just depends how long you want to be without your PS4. If you can handle it, I would sell it.

The website has been in the process of an update. Wonder when it will go live ;)

It's been like that for a while now. I remember checking it a few days ago.

This year no leaks or hints , i am happy with this , fuck all the leakers ruining surprises to get clicks on their sites or idiots that do it to get attention on twitter.

There's still enough time for shit to leak. And there will be leaks.
I hate it as well, would rather know nothing going into E3.

I mainly play PC games anyway, and the 4K will be out by the release of Persona 5, so it should be fine.

I'd be missing out on Odin Sphere Leifthrasir if I sold it now though, for what that's worth.

It seems to be called Statik Institute of Retention

Wonder if that is the logo of the facility where Yellow (the protagonist of Hunger) is. Maybe its for another project tho

Assuming they do announce EVERYTHING in production(not likely), what are we looking at besides the stuff we're already assuming?

Bloodborne 2?
Sucker Punch project?
???

I suppose Bloodborne 2 isn't happening any time soon. From Software were going to'stop' with the Souls (etc.) games didn't they? If a Bloodborne 2 IS going to be announced.. I'll run naked around the neighborhood screaming !

Star Ocean is already coming out this month

so if we have Horizon and TLG both coming out for fall/holiday (with GTSport and DQ Builders as well)

then we basically got things spread out quite well.... seeing as likely a bunch of digital titles are likely to be spread out throughout the summer

So close yet so far..
What was leaked before the event last year? Pretty much no leaks this year, kind of worrying.

Kinda worried about Wattam, especially after what happened with Rime. Been MIA way too long.

I kinda am too. The game was playable at their booth last PSX tho.

But the things that intrigues me when it comes to Wattam is both that is no listed on SMS page (all their other external dev games are) and also this

The trademark has been dropped for a while and was never renewed. Adding that to the absence of the game on SMS page, now I do fear that this game might been dropped.

I tried e-mailing Robin from Funomena back in April for a status update. Just mentioned that I'd noticed the trademark was abandoned by Sony in September and that the game isn't listed on Santa Monica's website with all their other indie efforts. I told her I wanted to know if the game is still being worked on with Sony. I never received a response. =/

Tweeted Shannon, Shu and Robin on this. No response.
