Ready at Dawn unveils Deformers (PC/PS4/XB1, online/local MP, GameStop) [Previews]

It says in the eurogamer article that only 20 people are working on this. Can the OP include this info and tag this as a side project of RaD?

They're working on three games. This, a VR title, and a new game in preproduction.

They're not a very big studio in the first place though (something like 75 people?). I probably wouldn't expect anything like The Order given their size and that they do multiple projects now.

Looks like fun! Can't wait to have some friends over for some local multiplayer (if that's included, which it sounds like it is).

The fact that they're also developing a new, large AAA IP needs to be in the title or something. Seems many can't read lol.

Yeah, this game may not be what people wanted or expected after The Order... But I suspect there's an excess of gleeful "revenge" posts in here from people who fell on both sides of that debate. I liked the Order... And I think NeoGAF in general came down too hard on it... But I don't see that as a good reason to shit on this little indie title which is obviously a labor of love for some of RaD's people. If you don't like what you see with this little title maybe wait and see what the bigger project turns out to be.

Looks fun. The Order was a technical marvel (which this doesn't look like) and I did like the concept but the execution felt average at best. Hopefully they execute well this time.

Looks like a bit of quick and easy fun.

I don't really get the comments about how RaD have "fallen", it's hardly like they're now in mobile dev hell or anything.

Wow......Sony were ruthless with those budget cuts

I don't get this comment.

Isn't Ready at Dawn indpendent, even if most of their work has been with Sony? If Sony owns them, why is GameStop publishing? And why is the game releasing on Xbox and PC?

Can atleast one person leaving comments like this give an actual reason why its "sad" or "unfortunate" ???
Well, if you had waited a few seconds for my edit, you would know the reasons I think its unfortunate. They were competent at many things and their previous games were good.

Looks like a much better GAME than The Order. Local multiplayer games are a dying breed so I'm genuinely interested in this.

Guess that's it for The Order then...? enjoyed it even with all its problems.

This looks good and all but not my type of game lol...

God the people lamenting the fact that this game exist are fucking crazy. It's not that because a studio makes a colorfull game instead a photo realistic game that they got down graded. If anything this is a major step up from the Order.

I'd say it wasn't the finest moment as a developer...

No grudges, just memories.

You probably can't talk about it, but I guess it could be because Sony might have forced your team to turn it into a Vita gimmick's tech demo...

The original concept was great. Out of the Vita reveal games, it was my favourite and I had a lot of hype until it was revealed to be a minigame compilation...

Looks like fun to me.

People complained that The Order focused too much on visuals did not have enough gameplay, now the same people are complaining about this even though it looks like the exact opposite.

Hell, if they have an actual hit on their hand here they could go in on The Order 1887 and know what to go for.

Looks fun to me, like the StreetSmash minigame from SSB on 3DS. I'd certainly pick it up one way or another.

Sorry i can't read minds? didnt know an edit was coming...

But even with that edit... Who's to say they aren't using that technical/artisitc prowess in their separate AAA game, and whatever the oculus game is... This is a side project (not some desperate cash grab theyr'e forced to do to keep the company afloat) and the gameplay looks fun (the ppl who've played it enjoyed it)

There's nothing unfortunate about a studio making a different kind of game.

Given that the upside of RaD's previous dev experience is technical competency and enthusiasm, while the down side is a pattern of making 2-hour narrative games that play like the hottest games of five years earlier, this seems like a pretty smart diversification to me. The upside on success with a game like this is high and it's much easier to deliver an expected level of polish on a multiplayer arena game with a small staff.

Movement feels slow, but this is quite refreshing given how uninspired the order 1886 felt in terms of gameplay. It still feels like they don't have a very good gameplay design sense, not just ideas per se but how good gameplay should feel.

According to rumors, RAD is said to have three games in development. This is one of them, a VR game is the second and im still a believer that the third is a sequel to The Order: 1886.

Have no interest whatsoever in this game and is it really surprising? GameStop is publishing the game. Do people really expect some $100M AAA game? LOL. Like Song of the Deep, all of the games that GameStop publishes will be smaller titles with small budgets.

Disappointed? Yes.
Surprised? Not at all.
