It's not a fantasy if someone wants to invest more into more powerful hardware. However, there still good reasons to go with a budget PC over a console even if the difference in performance is going to be negligible.
I was thinking.
I wonder if they'll have multiple iterations of Scorpio at launch or relatively close to each other.
Scale from something aimed at the mass market to super premium user.
What if I told you a console is a budget PC?
nah only two versions ( high and low.)
Since the occulus is higher res that will add prob $20 to the cost but in reality its pretty similar to ps vr so the cost will be similar to build. So add another saving of $50 for that. Id pay $100 extra for occulus as i can use it on a pc as well. Its obvious it dosent cost as much to make as they are preparing for a price war once they have mass production. Its hard to say who will build n sell more but both will be mass produced and get economies of scale. Occulus is a hardware company with far more money to invest in this than sony.
Not everyone has a gaming PC. Some people prefer consoles.A budget PC where you pay more for the same games, have to pay to have access to online games, doesn't have all the functionality of a PC, etc.
There is no way any device sharing the same library with PC can be more attractive in general unless they give the hardware away for free.
If the Nintendo or Sony console had the same library PC has I wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole.

No shit, but someone made the claim that a console is a budget PC, which is nonsensical because of all of the reasons you quoted. Not everyone has a gaming PC. Some people prefer consoles.

As its shaping up, MS is going the way of Steam Machines.
Same here. My oldest son games on the PC, while the rest of us use the xbox/wii/ps consoles.Conversely, I have a kickass gaming PC and I still prefer consoles.
The whole having to listen to people preaching the virtues of gaming PCs gets so tiring in every thread.
For Scorpio or is low the XB1?
If MS wants to do a generation reset (unlikely), multiple Scorpio SKUs make sense.
Games you may not even want..I'd rather choose the games I buy thanks and enjoy the free online.where you do pay $40 to $60 bucks for online a year but get two free games every month which makes it a good value..

A budget PC where you can buy used games, trade games, sell games, get discounts and GCU at Best Buy, where you do pay $40 to $60 bucks for online a year but get two free games every month which makes it a good value. I can't play Madden or FIFA on PC either.
I think its a good thing as well, not fox Xbox(in all likelihood Xbox branded PCs won't be a success, but for MS it doesn't need to be) but for MS and most gamers its probably for the best. They got into the console market more than 15 years ago and they now are in a very similar situation to when they started. This isn't necessarily a bad thing IMO. Scorpio will be one of the ways you can play Xbox games and content. Windows 10 will be another.
Seems like a win/win all around. PC gamers get to play on the hardware of their choice. Console gamers will still have the simplicity and accessibility of a dedicated console. MS gets XBL revenue and a cut from game sales from each platform.
Who thinks they'll announce a trade in/up program for anyone who buys an XB1 from June 13th onwards?
Me.
Gears 4 is coming out this fall, they really don't want to mess that launch in any way and I'm sure they know Gears 4 has huge potential to sell boxes but if Scorpio is on the horizon well, that's going to seriously hinder things.
A trade in program will certainly help.
Especially if there's a 4K Scorpio version that's included with the vanilla XB1 version.
Controversial?
Not everyone has an Xbox. Some people prefer PCs.
that has nothing to do with what I was saying, I was making a direct comparison between PC and an Xbox(not PC and consoles btw).
A budget PC where you pay more for the same games, have to pay to have access to online games, doesn't have all the functionality of a PC, etc? Sweet deal.
There is no way any device sharing the same library with PC (worse actually, since PC exclusive games will still exist) can be more attractive in general unless they give the hardware away for free.

So what are we talking about today then?
I thought Spencer said there would not be a 1.5?

Seriously man. General consumers are not going to buy components to build a gaming PC.
That's of course ignoring that some people just prefer console gaming.
The plug and play aspect of console will continue to appealing.
Again, why would a Scorpio announcement hinder people to buy the XboxOne NOW for Gears 4? If true Scopio is a YEAR away. Not some months/weeks.
A Scorpio Announcement wont kill anything.
And Gears 4 most likely wont even have Scorpio upgrades. You want 4k Gears 4? Get the PC version (which will most likely be announced at E3 or GamesCom)
The same as every night, trying to take over the world. IT'S PINKY AND THE BRAIN BRAIN BRAIN BRAIN BRAIN BRIN BRAIN BRAIN BRAIN BRAIN BRAIN BRAIN BRAIN.

Yes, general consumers will just buy a PS4. Laugh all you want, no way Xbox Scorpio can do better than Xbox one give how MS is also focusing on PC now.![]()

The mobility alone for lan parties, so far that is possible is a big plus.
I wouldn't even want to think about moving my big tower desktop.
That's...financially silly. Stand on your own two legs and sell to folks ready to upgrade like me. You don't lease these things like a car. Trade it on to gamestop if you want though or sell it to a third party.
Hi. Welcome to the Scorpio speculation thread. Why are you coming in here with your PC insecurities? PC is cool man. We like it too.
Im not sure if having multiple scorpio sku would make sense right now.
Just seeing how many people are already pissed about mid gen upgrade rumors.
And Fanboys get to endlessly post "why does anyone buy an Xbox? PlayStation and PC for me!"
Every hour of every day for all eternity.
I don't think it can work if this is a mid-gen upgrade.
But that's what's so fascinating about Scorpio. It's so powerful, that it makes me think that maybe it's not an upgrade, however unlikely that seems.
In that scenario, I could see multiple Scorpio SKUs.
would xbone and scropio be cross platform ?
I don't play on PC, haven't had a gaming PC in more than a year. I'm insecure for speaking my mind? To me it just seem people are tripping in Scorpio hype, will hardly change anything.
If what I think bothers you that's on you.
Then why were you talking about Sony & PC for you? Well if I remove the PC I'm just left with Sony and your intentions become quite clear. Not to mention in the thread with the guy asking if he should get an XBOX One you said you would only in situations like if someone put a gun to your head.

I intended to be clear, I don't see how Xbox consoles can be viable without exclusives.
I thought Spencer said there would not be a 1.5?
Consoles aren't viable without third party support and exclusives, with that I could agree.Consoles aren't viable without third party support, like your WiiU example. The console will still have plenty of console exclusives that can't be played on other consoles. For many gamers that may as well be a full exclusive because they don't game on PC. Like yourself apparently.
Not everyone has an Xbox. Some people prefer PCs.
that has nothing to do with what I was saying, I was making a direct comparison between PC and an Xbox(not PC and consoles btw).
In that situation most people would just chose a PS4.
So Xbox is a console targeted at people that don't like gaming on PC and prefer Xbox exclusives to Sony's or Nintendo's? No wonder it has had such a limited success.
Also, why can't you play Fifa on PC?

Read the thread title, then read the OP, then read the source article. I think then it should be pretty clear that this isn't just a Scorpio thread, although I've seen some persons insinuate that it is. Now you are free to create a Scorpio only rumor and speculations thread but i doubt it'l prevent other people from posting in it. But they will likely get banned if they shit post and derail the thread. If people cannot simply talk about Scorpio in a Scorpio thread, and instead feel compelled to evangelize for another manufacturer, then perhaps the conversation is done at a 100 plus pages.
Regarding the Scorpio, I hope that the console itself has a built in mic so we can still use voice commands. Xbox Record That is the best.
